Hi After Effects Team,
Thanks so much for your great work on the programm throughout the years. Here's one (hopefully) small thing that would make our lives easier for project backups:
Please give us the option to define our own default folder names for (Footage) when collecting files through "File > Dependencies > Collect Files". My company works with an archive server that requires a file naming convention similar to web file names. Therefore it does not permit brackets and other special characters (including character spaces) in the file name structures to prevent problems between users on Macs and PCs.
So this generally poses the following problems for me (I'll be using XYZ_assets as a placeholder in the following):
1) Illustrator and Photoshop files are generally imported in their own folder "XYZ_assets layers". I manually remove the character spaces and change this to "XYZ_assets_layers" every time after import, and would be super happy if there was a way to tell After Effects to not use space in the automated naming.
2) Since the collection function automatically generates a folder named (Footage) and includes also aforementioned spaces into the subfolder names (e.g. "XYZ_assets layers") this means I have to manually rename the folders after collection, then re-open the project and reconnect everything again before archiving the project. It would be immensely helpful if it was possible to set a default collection behavior through preferences which lets me pick a name for the footage or just saves it as "Footage" without brackets by default.
3) If the file collection includes other importet AE-Projects, I have run into file paths character limits before on the backup server. While this does not happen as frequently as the other two issues, I would find it helpful if file collection does not nest folders into folders but rather keeps them next to each other inside the Footage folder. Or better even, allows a choice for how to handle them in the preferences.
Thank you so much for consideration!
