This has been a constant problem for the last year. Within minutes of working I get low memory errors on a system with 192GB of RAM and 2tb dedicated scratch disk. This error occurs at all stages of production and/or rendering.
Steps taken: Updated AE with each new release Stress Tested RAM and CPU Disabled plugins and extensions Full wipe and reinstall of the system Upgraded GPU to RTX4080 Super
System Info: Windows 11 Intel 13900K Nvidia RTX 4080 Super 192GB DDR-5 RAM After Effects 24.5 Dedicated System SSD, Software SSD, Scratch SSD
If anyone is able, we pushed a fix into the curernt 25.1 Beta build that is available in Creative Cloud Desktop that may address any remaining memory issues you are seeing. Give it try if you are able.
Thanks for collecting all of that. I can definitely see something is wrong with the preview and playback of the project that is causing the memory to be exhausted. We'll figure out what's going on and let you know.
I have been dealing with this SAME issue for over a year now. Absolutely insane that it has not been sorted out yet. I can't stand giving this company money anymore. This has been beyond frustrating.
I have updated AE to 24.6.1. I don't know if there is any change, but so far I have had fewer memory problems. Mostly with full frame 4K or larger frame size. Difficult to do problem-solving in the middle of a client project.
I will mail some more information as soon as the problem appears.
We've had one report that turning off the Disk Cache on larger memory systems seems to have improved the situation for the user. You could try that and see if it helps. We are attempting to reproduce the issue with the disk cache enabled to see what is going on.
I realized I didn't share the support I had in the past few days, but it sounds like the issue may be fixed on my end. I have had it for a few days now with no error. I disabled the Disk Cache setting, and it seemed to fix things and also operate smoother. Maybe these new M series machines just don't need that feature anymore because of how powerful they are.
I am continuing to monitor it but very happy to finally seem to have a fix. Hope that helps others!
I'm afraid I'm experiencing the same problem. Even with the simplest animation the low ram memory error appears and I cannot previsualize the animation properly. This usually happened to me before after several hours working on a project, which makes sense, but right now it happens just at the beggining. I tried as well turning off the Disk Cache but the problem persists. Hope you can find the solution soon. Thanks.
We believe we have identified a way where having the disk cache enabled may be causing the tracked memory to be checked incorrectly. We have a fix in testing that should be into Beta builds at some point. In the meantime, try turning off the disk cache to see if that helps resolve your issue until that fix is released.
I tried to open past projects (from 3 months ago), same problem. I am working on 2 different projects, one with PSD assets and another with Illustrator assets, both fail. I created a completely new file from scratch, it worked fine, but as I move forward, the error returns. I am animating 1080 compositions, it's impossible for this to consume so much memory.

YES. this beta version fixed the low memory issue. I tested with all my problem comps and files, no issues. Everything runs smoothly, no issues for now.
