How do I access the Stock images I previously used credits on?

Hi,

Please could someone provide me with the "Complaints Procedure" for Adobe?  I have been through to the support channel and they are unable to help me with the very basics.

I feel there is a language barrier issue and they just give me differeing answers to my issue.

I have been told that if I cancel my Creative Cloud "Photoshop" monthly subscription, I can no longer use the downloaded photos, fonts etc and that I need to keep the subscription going.  So in other words any design work I do that is covered with a standard license whilst subscribed is legal.  If I cancel my subscription, I can't use those images.  This is just crazy.  I uderstand I would loose any "Credits" left as that seems reasonable.

I have kept a log of all my communications and would like to discuss with someone handling complaints at Adobe and not just someone from Support.

Any help appreciated.

What Downloaded photos? What do you mean by Downloaded?

Downloaded is a term used for Copying files from the Internet to the hard drive of your computer.

Do you mean Copying images from a cameras memory card to your computer?

You need to explain what you are doing, where these images come from that you have.

Basically any image on your computer that you took with a camera or collected, in any way, legally and have the Rights to you can use whether or not you subscribe to one of the Adobe subscription plans.

Now if you used Photoshop to Edit those images and Saved Them In the Proprietary Adobe Photoshop format as PSD file (FileName.PSD) then the only programs that Read that Proprietary file format is Adobe programs. So if you cancel your subscription to Photoshop you won't be able to open those images to either Reedit them or save them in a different format.

For this exact reason I save all the work done in Photoshop in the TIFF (TIF) format which many program can read.

So If this is what you are taslking about I suggest you use Photoshop to Save As all  the files you have in the PSD format to the TIF format.

If this is NOT what you are talking about then you need to Explain Exactly what your concerns are, how you used PS, what File format your images are in and the big question What exactly do you mean by Downloaded.

If you Downloaded images from the Adobe Stock system then canceling your subscription may also cancel the license you have to use those images you downloaded from that system. I'm not sure as I do not use the Stock system.

Hi and thank you for the reply.

I refer to "Stock" Images and Fonts etc of which I get a monthly credit of 20.  I use the Photoshop package subscription.

It is these images, photos, fonts etc that I refer.  I use the images to create artwork etc.

I save all my downloads locally and can use them ok but Support are telling me that once my subscription is cancelled, I will not ne allowed to use those images (that I have saved locally to my PC) again because I have cancelled the subscription.  I realise I can't download them from Adobe again but why can't I continue to use those that I have saved locally to my computer?  I know I won't be able to edit them with Photoshop again as I don't have access to the software.

It's crazy that I can't use the downloaded "stock" images going forward after cancelling the subscription.

So in a nutshell, from what I am being told "If I don't have a live subscription, I cannot continue to use any images I have previously downloaded from Stock to my pc."

Then Yes if you cancel your subscription you will lose access to the Fonts (Unless they physically exist as files on your computer in the OS Fonts folder).

As to the Stock images I do not know if once you Buy a license, or in your case are allowed to download X number a month that is included with your subscription, to them if canceling your subscription loses access to them for Future use. I would suspect it does simply because the only reason you have them is because of your current, Active, Adobe subscription.

That's a very expensive way to own images.  If you bought images from 123rf.com, you own the license for ever and don't have to have a subscription at all.

I understand that you can't work with the fonts because you have to have the Adobe App installed (The fonts don't go in to "Fonts" under Windows 10) but if you have already created something using that app then it is still in the file you created.  

I only want to own and be able to use my images / artwork etc after my subscription ends.  I just can't believe the licenses associated with thos downloaded Stock images would be taken away from me if I end my subscription.

There must be some miscommunication here as I just can't believe this is the case.  If it is then I'm sure a lot of people fall foul of this by downloading Stock images, using them for whatever purpose and then cancelling the subscription and continue using the images.

As I said. I am unfamiliar with the licensing of the Adobe Stock images. So check the terms of use.

It kind of explains it in the first sentence, section. Then goes on to describe the Restrictions.

Also as I stated above once you use one of those images your artwork or whatever you used it in doesn't get taken down or that image, asset get removed. But you LOSE the ability to use that image in FUTURE work

Thanks for the info.  I couldn't find anything to say that I need a current subscription to keep the license though.

I know that if I produce a piece of work for a client I would need to purchase another license for the next client etc.  If the work was for myslef though, I'd like to use the stock images as many times as I like (within reason) and without having to renew the subscription.

@JSM,

Not  accurate anymore.   Affinity Designer, Corel Draw, Paint Shop Pro, Gimp and others can read PSD files.

If you have licensed Stock images saved to your computer's hard drive, you can keep using them.   They won't suddenly vanish when your subscription ends.  But your access to certain online services might be effected.   So if you save assets to the cloud, you probably want to get those assets before you cancel.   Similarly, Adobe Portfolio website will go offline, Adobe web fonts will stop working, etc....

With the layers intact and other proprietary PSD file features?

Or are they like LR Classic that reads the Flattened version saved with the PSD file when Max Compatability is used?

In any event saving as a TIF file is a better choice IMHO.

PSD layers are supported in Affinity and others.

In my book, TIFF is a zombie file type along with EPS and static GIF.  I never use them anymore.
