One way to outline an object : object -> expand the second part of your question "HP logo" you can use "divide" from the pathfinder panel then delete the unwanted parts or you can use the shape Builder tool ( shift + M ) ( holde down alt to delete )

Reset illustator preferences settings : 1- quit illustrator 2- if you are on windows launch illustrator and keep pressing on ctrl + alt + shift until illustator opens if you are on mac ( cmd + opt + shift ) 3- try the type tool let us know if that helps.

first you need to convert the stroke to outlines : object -> path -> outlines stroke if the result was "compund path " the clipping mask will work perfectly , if not, convert the outlined stroke to a compound path object -> compound path -> make Now you can make the clipping mask please let us know if that helps, regards.

Here is what I do when dealing with Instances: *** add a NEW FILL ( black or White or Gray ) from the Appreance Panel ( Window -> appearance ) then set the blending Mode to Color as shown in the screenshot below, Hope this will help

As your screenshot shows and as I mentioned in my first reply, the Document color mode is NOT set to RGB to convert the Document color Mode for the Destination Document go to Menu : image -> mode -> RGB

in Photoshop : Go to window -> path, if the path is named " work path " double Click on it and click OK ( the work path will be converted to Path to be used inside InDesign). when you place the file in indesign, Go to Object -> clipping path -> Options or ( ctrl + alt + shift + K ) From Type: Select Photoshop Path as shown in the image below , Hope this will help.

you need to isolate the cut the object from the background first, there are many ways to delete the White background : 1- use the Quick selection Tool , then refine the edges using select -> select and Mask ( or refine edges if you are not on the latest CC 2017 ) then you may press the delete button or use the layer mask 2- select -> color Range , select the white 3- use the magic wand once you have the Transparent background, you can use any background color by creating a New solid Fill below are screenshots to demonstrate that :
