@ThioJoe  Actually they do - it's in Preferences for PSD and PSB.   For TIFF it's in the secondary options dialog that comes up after the Save dialog.   But the main problem is that all the compression algorithms seem outdated. They work well for small file sizes, where you don't need it, but timings blow up completely when encoding file sizes of current standards.   For TIFF, zip is the only real option. The LZW algorithm was made for 8 bit data and doesn't work well on 16 bit data, where it usually increases file size.   The practical question is whether it's worth the trouble. Does it really matter if a file is 5 GB or 4 GB? Those sizes will eat up your drives in no time regardless, and it seems to be much better use of your time and energy to have a strategy for expanding disk space as needed. Because it will be. ... The video you're watching was probably made with Lightroom 6 (which had different colors in the histogram), so it's around 10 years old. You're comparing your version of LrC to a video of a 10 year old version. Videos don't have proper color management, so the colors you're seeing will not be correct.   In the 10 years that have passed since Lr 6 was released, Lightroom Classic (as it is now called) has come a long way. There are loads of new features that will not be covered in the video. Thank you for this post. This just happened to me and sent me into a bit of a panic. I couldn't find my original catalog anywhere and figured it had been overwritten or something. As it turned out it was on the external drive where I keep my photos. I thought it was on the interal drive and didn't look closely at the external one. In my case I suspect the external drive wasn't ready when lightroom looked for the catalog so it asked to load a different one and I selected the only one on the list. I didn't realize I was loading an older, empty catalog and once the upgrade was done everything was gone. I had the same issue and went back and fourth between editing, exporting, viewing. Not the best solution, but it worked for me. also setting a scong monitor as viewing monitor somehow showed me the image i would see after exporting. There simply is no real solution to this issue. I feel like Per wanted to help and comes from a place of a lot of experience which sometimes makes it hard to understand. We all had the same issue, you're not alone. Hello, good afternoon. But I have a problem when using Photoshop's Camera Raw Filter. I have the latest versions of both apps and nothing that is resolved yet. What happens is that when you open the Camera Raw filter it is invisible or not visible, and all Photoshop is locked until I give it the Esc key. Reinstalling does not reset Preferences, but before you do that, is this all the time regardless of what tool or function is selected?  If it was only with the Brush tool,  for instance, then resetting that tool would restore it to its defaults.   A full manual preference reset would be the way to go me thinks. https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually   Let us know if that fixes it.  I am not sure where we'd go from there though. ... Just using RESET may not get you back to the image without the import settings being applied.  RESET just resets the image to the imported state.  There are two  included presets in LrC and one sets the image to Adobe Default and is called ADOBE DEFAULT and is located in the Default preset section.  I placed this in Favorites and turned off the Default section.  The other is Zeroed and it is in the Classic-General preset section.  This sets all sliders to zero. ...
