Hi, I'm creating my first ever map of a country in a 'super' high resolution. My goal was to have the height at 50,000 pixels, and width would probably end up as around 70,000 pixels. I created about 30% of the map, and when I went to test it in AE, I got an error: ChatGPT tells that the max size in AE is 30k x 30k pixels. Is this true? Is there any way around this? Thanks,
Hi!! I REALLY need someone's help. I recently got after effects on my new laptop as well as the sapphire plugin and oftentimes when using s_shake or s_flicker I get this pop up reading, "after effects can't continue s_shake plugin generated an unexpected exception." How can I fix this? I uninstalled sapphire and installed it again but the same issue occurs. It does not happen right when I add these effects but in a more random and unpredictable manner rather. And at the same time my after effects does not respond 😞
I started using after effects and while i was adding the effects to my video then a pop up appeared which was saying After effects Warning std : exception. how do i reslove it and i can't restart my mac
Can't download it: it says my browser is not suppoerted or to old. But tryed it on 3 browsers...
After Effects error: unimplemented function
Ok Adobe has finally recently brought Smooth Zoom to AE, so I guess this is also coming sooner or later - I'm not gonna go too hard on them 😁😁 they're the best! From what I understand Photoshop was the only app to have a History panel, right? and they have implemented it along all Adobe apps now. Same with the Properties tab, which in Premiere makes a huge difference!
Always, when I ram preview in AE (even if everything is already cached), the audio plays just a couple of frames then there is no audio for a second or two and then it plays almost normal (sometimes there are other audio skips, it seems when starts another audio layer).I had this problem in AE CC 2015, then there was un update that solves the problem (CC 2015.3 I guess). But when I upgraded to CC 2017 the problem came back again, and now that I have tried to re install CC 2015.3 I still have the same problem.I'm using AE on windows 10. I've noticed that, if I uncheck "mute audio when preview is not Real-Time" option in Preferences, the problem disapper, but the audio slow pitch is very annoying. Please tell me how to solve it, I'm wasting a lot of time.
Hi everyone,Can I have some advice regarding this issue?I believe all my specs are valid for installment. I've updated my software to the latest one, and checked all my specs if it fits the requirement and it seems like I have it all correct. Yet this still keep showing for every attempts I try to download AE. Would like to receive some help ASAP T-T.
Hello. I am experiencing a persistent text rendering issue in Adobe After Effects that affects the lowercase Latin ‘i’ character (Unicode: U+0069) as well as some general letter case behavior. Issue Summary: When I type the lowercase ‘i’ character in After Effects, the text layer internally registers it correctly as U+0069, and this is also reflected in the layer name and Character panel. However, on the composition screen, the rendered character visually appears as the Turkish dotless ‘ı’ (Unicode: U+0131), even though I did not type that character. This behavior occurs consistently across multiple third-party fonts.I have confirmed that the same fonts display the correct 'i' character in other design platforms such as Canva, so the issue appears to be isolated to After Effects.Additionally, I’ve observed that some lowercase characters are rendered as uppercase in After Effects without any capitalization settings or transformations being applied. I'm a big fan of the layer based compositing and layer based editing After Effects currently has. That being said I'm well aware of the demand for node based workflows from other professionals in my field who use software like Davinci Resolve/Fusion/Nuke. From what I gather I have heard the excuse that AE is too old and integating such feature's would be too difficult. I'm no expert on software development but my suggestion would be to devide After Effects in two. Upon opening After Effects you are greeted with a choice of what kind of project you would like to make. A "Layer Based" or "Node Based" project. Selecting Layer Based will take you to the traditional layout. Selecting Node Based will launch you into a new UI that visually more akin to something like Nuke. Over time Adobe can work on ways to integrate the two halves together but by doing this they can cater to professionals or new enthusiasts who want to try out other methods of compositing.
Hey Everyone, I'm working on a project and in the project I am suppose to take a solid and make it into a ring using masks. I have no problem making the ring, but the next thing I have to do is make it into a 3D layer. Once i do that, I can see the lines for my mask, but the mask itself is gone. It becomes a solid again. The project has it set that the masks are set to both subtracted, and one is inverted. Can I get some help into what could be causing this and how to fix it please? Thank you. (Solid Shape as the Start)(Use Masks to make the Ring Shape) (Change to a 3D Layer, and I lose the Masks...)
Nothing is showing in my compositions, I've created new comps and added objects (see screenshot) and opened old compositions and nothing is appearing.I've tried:I've uninstalling and reinstallingUpdating my GPUClearing the cacheOpening in safe modeResetting my workspace
Hello,I've lately been importing Illustrator files into After Effects for animation. I've been running into an issue where I'll upload one file, and then every file I upload afterwards is that same first file. Sometimes saving the file in a different folder, or drastically changing its name helps.I've reinstalled AE/restarted my computer. This has been a problem for a few weeks. Thanks for any help!Deric
<Overview>When importing AVI files into After Effects, the import process takes a very long time, depending on the length of the video, and the UI freezes during this period.Importing a few hundred frames takes several seconds (although this is still slower than before), but importing several thousand frames takes tens of seconds. This refers to performance on a standard SATA SSD. On an HDD, loading takes several "minutes".What's worth noting is that this doesn't occur in After Effects 24.1 but has been happening since version 24.2.1, which suggests that a regression may have occurred between these versions.Furthermore, after importing, when the footage is placed onto the timeline, the preview remains black, and it again takes tens of seconds (or several minutes) before the preview becomes visible.<Steps to reproduce>1. Launch After effects2. Select New project3. Drag and Drop a AVI file (e.g. Not compressed, UT video codec, etc. , Full HD, 5000 frames) <Expect
I know this is a dumb question, but I am new to AE and can't figure it out. How do I open a project file without it closing the project that is currently open? Basically, I want to open a .aep file and have it show up as a new "tab" next to the composition that is currently open. Thanks!
At 3 seconds in, this project fails exporting with an error message. I tried restarting AE, computer, png sequence also stops working. I do not know how to fix this. Please let me know. Thank you.
This is an intermittent issue and affects AE, PPro and rendering through AME. This may be related to cache issues and/or insufficient memory somewhere in the pipeline. Importantly, rendering from AME prevents the isssue about 90% to 95% of the time. But when AME fails, it's a lot finicky trying to fix the issue. Changing property vals seems to give it a required kick to get back to expected results but even this is a trial and error routine.Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to fix/workaround this?
Hi all,I am currently facing the above problem in After Effects when trying to add a 3D Camera Tracker to my clip. Here's my workflow and details of the footage I am working with. Footage: 3840x2160 resolution; 100 fps. Full duration is 15 seconds. 1. I am editing this footage on a 1920x1080 sequence in Premiere Pro. I am using only 5 seconds of the entire source footage.2. Replaced this footage in After Effects composition.3. The Comp settings shows up 1920x1080, and the MP4 file is in 3840x2160.4. Applied 3D Camera Tracker onto the MP4 layer and got the above error. Method I have tried:- Tried to create a pre-comp on the MP4 layer and applied 3D Camera Tracker to the MP4 layer inside the pre-comp and it's taking ages to analyze. Can any experts here give me some advice on my workflow? Am I doing anything wrong?Or is this just the way it is (that I have to keep waiting)? Just want to resolve this error. Thanks for all the advice in advance!
I'm copying this from Spencer Tweed's suggestion from December 2, 2019--of course, since the ideas forum is not searchable I couldn't find this in this forum, just the old features suggestion, so I'm cutting-and-pasting someone else's idea, as follows:It would be very nice to re-write the "Simple Choker" effect to perform more closely to the Nuke "Erode" node. Specifically the precision is much higher and the results more reliable. When using "Simple Choker" any feathering is lost and the matte becomes hard, it seems to exponentially get less effective the wider you go, and it does not keep the original shape of your mask very well (there seems to be a blurring effect which rounds out edges). On the other hand the Nuke "Erode" node works in pixels and no precision is lost in terms of your mask shape, so it is reliable and predictable. It is behaves much like "Mask Expansion" does for a mask (no precision is lost, it is measured in pixels, etc).
Add how like Photoshop has a depth map, but in After Effects
I'm extremely disappointed with my experience using After Effects 2025 and with Adobe's support. As a professional videomaker who relies on AE daily, I’ve spent over two full days trying to fix constant crashes and performance issues after updating to the 2025 version. I followed every official troubleshooting step (reset preferences, clear cache, reinstall, update drivers, test without plugins), but nothing worked. To make matters worse, when I contacted Adobe support via chat, the agent (named Sid) told me to wait for a remote assistance link — then suddenly shifted to trying to sell me credits for automated video creation. When I questioned this, the conversation was simply abandoned with no follow-up or resolution. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially from a company that charges a monthly subscription for professional-grade software. I'm now unable to do my job and have received no real help from Adobe.I’ve submitted a formal complaint and demanded compensation, but I’m
I wish to know whether Quick Time video is saved as a MOV extension. If so how to open this video? I tried to convert by using VLC but it didn't work.
Having issues with randomly not being able to make cryptomatte selections, the cursor simply doesnt change as it should when cryptomatte effect is selected. This can happen in projects which have worked well for days and suddenly it breaks and then i stays broken.Furthermore Im having trouble gettin cryptomatte working in already established AE projects - its like I HAVE to make my comp with the cryptomatte effect as one of the first comps in a project - otherwise same issue - cursor doesnt change when cryptomatte effect selected. My cryptomattes are generated with 3dsmax and vray and Im quite confident they are containing correct data its just the effect inside AE which stops working.Any ideas how to fix this?
Hello everyone, I'm encountering a persistent issue where I'm unable to use remote debugging for my CEP extension in After Effects 25.2.2 on Windows. The core problem is that After Effects does not seem to open or listen on the specified remote debugging port. I'm hoping someone in the community has encountered this or can offer new insights, as extensive troubleshooting has not yet resolved it. My Environment:Operating System: Windows (User: Pro980)Adobe After Effects Version: 25.2.2CEP Version (inferred from logs): CEP 12 (e.g., CEP12-AEFT.log shows PlugPlug version 12.0.1.2) Problem Description: When my CEP extension panel (or even a minimal test panel) is loaded in After Effects, I cannot connect to the configured remote debugging port (e.g., http://localhost:8089, http://127.0.0.1:8089, or other ports tested). The browser consistently shows a "site can't be reached" error. Critically, using the netstat -ano | findstr ":[PORT_NUMBER]" command in Windows command line
