Sample video I'm experiencing issues with the preview in After Effects. When I move along the timeline, I notice flickering in what would be the render viewer. However, when I play the project and let it run for the assigned time on the timeline, it displays normally.This problem started on Friday, 01/16/2025. Today, Sunday the 19th, I haven’t been able to resolve it.Before opening After Effects on Friday, I updated the graphics driver (a single update). I’m using a notebook (Bangho Max L5) with an Intel i5 processor (Windows 10 Pro OS), Iris Xe graphics, 32 GB of RAM, and three drives: (C) 222 GB, (D) 931 GB, and (E) 1.81 TB.Here’s what I’ve tried:Uninstalling the graphics driver and reinstalling it... AE 2025Windows Hello, I experienced a few issues while creating an animation. Expressions wouldn’t work, animation I created disappeared on 4 occasions and had to be created again. Once I finally completed a task that should have taken my 4 hours, but was all day, I am not able to render in either Media Encoder of the Render Que in AE 2024 won't open the file. I see nothing on the forum, bit Co-Plot let me know that there are issues. I thought it was my laptop. all my drives are up to date, and I regularly clear cache.  Do we know if these issues will be fixed? I am thinking of starting over in AE 2024, which makes me want to cry.   Dawn

hey, I need help with a very weird problem. I have attached a screen recording to show the problem as clearly as possible.So I have a composition ‘10PC vierkanten2’ whose trasform settings I adjust in the composition ‘S5 vierkanten’. When I put the composition ‘S5 vierkanten’ in the composition ‘2a’, sometimes the settings don't come through depending on which layer the composition is on.Should anyone see or know how this comes about, please let me know. 

I have duplicated a layer in the timeline. I then want to use the atttributes I have set up on that layer on another composition. The method to achieve this I am told is to drag the composition from the project panel  over the selected layer in the timeline. When I do this my AE 26.3.0 is only adding the composition as a new layer in the timeline, not nesting the new composition within the layer and updating the layer title with the new comp title as expected. 

Hi, I'm pretty new to after affects and have been using the mask tracking features, and for my project i am putting a image behind a tracked mask so it shows the image over the video but im having trouble with tracking the image with the mask(the image kind of moves away while the mask stays where it needs to be). how do I track the image with the mask. I have tried using a null object and linking it with the image while having the mask path pasted on the null image and I have tried linking the position of the image to the mask and nothing works

Has anyone experienced this issue when AE project even though it's not heavy or complex suddenly becomes slower and slower to the point you can't work with it anymore and have to start again a new one?I've already experienced it in Beta and the latest AE version on 2 different projects.It started when PSD text layers has been changed to text layers. Might be unrelated but after this not only the preview but the whole AE became sluggish.

Please help...I am a newbie when it comes to importing an .obj into After Effect and am running into an annoying problem.I have created a simple 3D model of unfolded book in Adobe Dimensions. On the top pages I placed a jpg representing a spread from a picture book. The material of these pages is a mat. In Dimensions, this goes well.Once imported into After Effects as an .obj, the material is no longer matte, but far too glossy. I have played with different light sources in After Effects, but since I want to rotate the object a little bit, a moment always occurs when the pages become tooglossy. Texts and illustrations become irradiated and are no longer readable.Doesn't an .obj include the material specifications (applied in Adobe Dimensions) when you import it into After Effects? I realize that it is a crossover of 2 software programs , however, I do not know where the problem lies. Perhaps it is impossible to change or fix the matte material.I asked the same question in the Adob

I'm curious to know if there's an intuitive way to accurately sync the scale, position and rotation of a textured GLTF model to a solid layer with Trapcode emitter from OBJ. I've animated the GLTF model in the advanced 3d settings of one composition and have brought that into a main comp where I'm looking to emit particles from an OBJ. The issue I'm having is eyeballing the Trapcode OBJ to be the same size and scale as the True 3D GLTF. Since the Trapcode solid is 2D, this is all done in Trapcode layer settings and it's not very precise. Any tips or suggestions are much appreciated!

all components object turn transparent once i change the comeponent render mode to Advanced 3D. in Adobe After Effects 2024 v24.2.1 My pc has a xeon processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of VRAM I don not have any  external plugins installed.Please i really need your help with this i don't know what to do again. 

Hello to everyone, i have some problem since yesterday:1- After I try to render video and the render starts is rendering 3-4 seconds and after this my pc crash and comes to the blue screen error.2- I try to export the compilation to the Media encoder but the problem is the same, rendering is starting and the whole pc crash with a blue screen error.3- I was searching the whole night for this problem, but every solution that I did via watching videos and searching in some forums the problem is still the same.4- I reinstall after-effects and also download the right drivers for my video card but nothing helps.My pc:I7 8700KNvidia 2070S OC32GB RAM 3200mhz2 SSD Samsung PRO970 and PRO980.

I’ve been encountering a persistent issue with Expression Controls in After Effects, and I’m hoping someone here might have a solution or insight. Here’s the problem: I’ve set up Slider Control and Checkbox Control on a null layer to dynamically adjust some properties (scale and opacity) across multiple layers in my composition. While the expressions work fine initially, they don’t seem to update dynamically when I scrub the timeline or adjust the slider values. The only way I can see the changes take effect is by manually refreshing (purging cache or reloading the project).This issue becomes a real bottleneck, especially when working on more complex compositions. I’ve tried the following troubleshooting steps: Resetting preferences.Disabling and re-enabling hardware acceleration.Testing on multiple versions of After Effects (2023 & 2024).Purging cache regularly. Still, no luck!  While troubleshooting, I documented some of my findings on my websit

Currently running After Effects 14.2.0.198 and this is on both Macintosh and Windows.There will be expressions that do not visually update to what the value says it is.Example ... layer Opacity without an expression is 0%, layer is not visible.  Add an expression (if/else toggle) for either 100% or 0% ... the expression will be enabled (no syntax errors) and the value colored in 'red' showing it has an expression on it ... of 0% ... but the layer will be 100% visible.   Stunner is that if I temporarily turn off the expression the layer disappears because the Opacity without an expression is 0%.  Toggle back on the expression-driven value of 0% and the layer is visible again.Same with position.  I have Position expressions placing items in random locations.  If I dial in new seed values I can watch the 'red' expression-enabled position value change... but the layer itself doesn't move to the new position.Edit -> Purge -> All Memory / All Memory &

Hey there, this is very frustrating.  I don't know of this is because of the update to After Effects CC 2017 or what...I have been working for a client on a series of 'How To' videos shot in front of a green screen for the past year.  The files are all h.264 (not 422, which I wish they were), they have all been shot exactly the same, and there is nothing different except that I now have updated to After Effects 2017.  I use Keylight for my green screen needs.Every once in awhile (frequency is random) this error shows up: 'After Effects Error: Keylight out of memory. (4) ( 25 :: 241)'Now, thankfully, it never crashes the program.  I hit 'okay'... and then move on, until it happens again.  Same thing: hit okay and move on.  No crash.  It's so frequent now that I am now just used to hitting the space bar twice to move on and it's become a routine.  Unfortunately, it's hard to get into a flow because of it and cannot find any updated information on h

I'm making a mogrt in AE involving user-supplied text. "user" mean the person using the mogrt in premiere, who is also myself.In essential graphics panel in AE, before exporting the mogrt, I can choose to allow font, style, size, and faux style to be changed by the user. How can I also permit changing fill color, outline color, outline width, etc? This mogrt takes a line of text and performs an animation on it. To make it more general purpose, I want the user to be able to change as many text properties as possible.

Heya. I'm not that good at After Effects, so go easy on me.I have a video of me talking, and it has hundreds of jump-cuts. I do lots of visual effects like smoke and cinders, on different layers. I would like the smoke and cinders to match the jump-cuts of my master video so that it looks seamlessly part of the environment.I have a CSV file of all the jump-cuts (which frame it occurs at and how long the jump-cut is for), and I figured I could somehow use this data to create time-remapping for the particle layers.To be clear, the particle layers such as the smoke are all short videos, perhaps 10 seconds long, and it seamlessly loops, so I've been using loopout() to just make it repeat over and over for the duration of the master video.I would like this to be as efficient as possible, because this composition is a template for all future videos I make.Here is the layout of the CSV file containing all the jump-cuts from my master video (I extracted the data from Premiere):"Clip Number,Cut

I downloaded a video (MOV format )from adobe stock that says it has an alpha channel with a transparent background. I can't figure out how to use this when importing it into after effects in order to have the background show as transparent instead of black. So, I'm sure we're ALL aware of the fact after effects cannot run on sonoma (aside from 23.6 and 24.0) PLEASE, please pleaseeee tell me adobe is working on fixing this... I use AE2020 and I really don't want to switch 23.6 & 24.0, especially since we cannot use rosetta on 24.0 😕😕 I'm literally losing my mind here. I edit for a hobby, and the fact I can't edit right now all because of an ios update is just frustrating.  So please, anyone who works at adobe, please try to fix after effects & any other software to be better compatible for sonoma. it sucks not having to edit.

Im having this problem when i import any image (png, ai, psd, anything). AE is interpreting the image as offline.But when i close and open the after effects, the image is there.Anyone having this same problem and found a solution?thks !After Effects Error: Illegal XML character "”in string....    

Hello,In the last few months, since the 2025 update, I’ve noticed that the program lags significantly. I’m not referring to the preview, but to the operation of the program itself. For example, when I create a shape, it struggles to follow the mouse movements. Or, when I type an expression, it takes about a second for each letter to appear, and so on. I’ve tried all the settings, but nothing worked. I even reinstalled the 2024 version for testing, and it works perfectly fine.Could you let me know if this bug can be resolved?

Hi, Is there any plug-in or script just for zeroing out AE properties after I am happy with their position/rotation.I don't wanna do it manually every time with null. Or using Duik one. Any expert here knows any plug-in just for zeroing out AE properties. Thank you.

I am always having issues with this, and I don't know the solution. Everytime I use the 'Trim Time In' feature, the clip is cut at the in point based on my time indicator.But when I use the 'Trim Time Out' shortcut, the footage still extends a frame too far beyond the time indicator. How to I get around this. I am often duplicating layers and needing the beginning cut off one, and the end cut off the other so they match up exactly.
