After Effects

I'm very new to AE. I was wanting to do a camera moving through my text. I parented the null object layer to the camera. Now, when I try to move the position of the null object, nothing moves. The sliders for the directions move, but nothing happens on screen. 3D is selected on my comp, text layers, and my null layer. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I can't find an answer anywhere. All the tutorials I've watched, I never see an issue. They simply add the camera, add the null object, link them, and when they move the position, no issue. Any help would be super appreciated. I want to have a shape move from right to left but be linear in speed then when it gets to a point speed up and then slow down before going back to linear speed again.I always struggle with understanding this. I thought I could have the first keyframe linear, the next one easy ease (hour glass), then another easy ease, and then finally linear, and that by selecting temporal (speed) interpolation to linear it would allow this. Problem is it changes the easy ease keyframes to linear.Essentially in the graph editor I want a straight line and then an n shaped curve which i can modify the handles for to create the speed up and slow down speed I want, before going back to linear again. I have done this before but I’ve never learnt it properly and AE seems to do different things each time. How do I do this because it comes up a lot and is rarely explained in tutorials on youtube etc.Also how do you move the handles so they have exactly the same percentage adjustment. Is there a way to use a video or another comp as a material on a 3D model/object?Kind of obvious but I’m trying to add a video to a 3D phone screen. I added the video to my scene/comp, and I can see the 3D phone material, but cant find a way to select the video as a material. I think I can fake it and make a 9x16 comp and make it 3D and have it aligned right on top of the screen. I know good ol Element 3D can do it, but I’m really hoping that the new native 3D tools in AE can pull it off.If anyone can help lmk, THANKS! 

Hi all. I’m a professional editor working with a UAE based editing agency and using After Effects for years on commercial and ad projects. Recently an entertainment website [personal info removed by mod.] contacted us for a short eye catchy promo ad video. While editing in latest After Effects, I started facing an issue with Multi Frame Rendering. Render gets stuck on a random frame, cpu still high but frames don’t move, no error shows. If I turn off MFR it renders, but very slow. Project is clean, no missing plugins, cache cleared, GPU drivers updated. This feels more like a render thread or plugin related issue, not basic settings. I searched YouTube and blogs but didn’t get real help. Saw many experienced AE editors here so thought to ask.

Hello! I am using After Effects. I synced the Adobe Font Config Variable, but I am not seeing it in the After Effects text options. I am able to use it in Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Photoshop. So I am a bit confused as to what is going on. Does After Effects not support some Adobe fonts? Thank you.

Editing Text in AE is very inconvenient and buggy. The font dropdown menu where you can see the sample text only shows the actual font for the sample for some fonts, but the majority has the preview in a standard font. I have to actual choose the font to see it in my composition - add to that that there's currently no way to scroll through fonts or go through them with the arror keys:I have to click on a font, which closes the dropdown menu, then i have to open the dropdown again, find where I left off and click the next font and so on. And after I pick a font, the name doesn't even appear in the window, it's instead replaced with a "-" It's also missing some filter options that are available in Illustrator, like weight, serif etc. I can only filter by Adobe fonts.   I guess this is a mix of bug and idea for improvement. The text editing workflow as it currently is an AE doesn't work well.

I’m trying to add a feature to my panels so they can be closed using the ESC key. The code below is just a basic test. When I run it and press ESC, it works the first few times. However, after about 5 to 10 presses, I start getting the attached error.I’ve tried several workarounds, including using scheduled tasks, but the error always shows up after a while. In order to achieve this, I used the SDK’s subpixel_sample function, very similarly to the shifter exemple provided within the SDK. HiDoes anybody else find AE's Paint performance, politely put, poor?Using Mac Studio with the latest AE version. Today I got really frustrated. Usually, AE starts to crawl and freeze after some +1000 Clone Stamp strokes. You may be able to continue by duplicating the Paint effect, clearing the strokes and resuming fresh.Now, I have a normal-ish 20-second 4K clip, (Prores 4444, Arri LogC3). AE freezes completely after 70 - 100 tiny strokes. Nothing fancy - just a basic clone brush. RGB, single frame stroke, clone source from the same layer.  I have tried:clearing caches,disabling all other layers and effects,Safe Mode (all third-party plugins disabled),changing METAL to Renderer to Mercury Software Only,using a small Region of Interest,opening a new fresh project and starting over,half resolution (you really can't work this way),precomping,downgrading AE versions... Nothing alarming with Mac's memory usage.Would not want to start over the fifth time. I’m facing an issue with my graphics card optimization in After Effects and Premiere Pro. I have the latest 2025 versions of the software installed, but my system keeps recognizing them as 2019 versions and doesn’t optimize my graphics card properly.

The problem:I've enabled Time Remapping on a composition and am using the loopOut() expression to repeat a 16 second animation until the end of the video.When I apply the expression, it places a keyframe at the beginning of the clip and at the 16 second mark. When I look at the single frame at the 16 second mark, the composition is not visible. (The object boundaries are visible to scale/move but the image is not.) This also occurs at the 32sec mark, 48sec mark, 64sec mark...The solution I found (that's not working for me):Create a new keyframe one frame before the 16 second markDelete the keyframe at the 16 second markWhat happens instead:Once I delete the keyframe at the 16 second mark, the keyframe at 15;29 becomes blank. Guys, I have a question. I'm using After Effects 2024 and trying to use the Text Evo 2 plugin, but when I try to open the plugin, I get an error saying "unable to execute script at line 34026. null is not an object". By the way, I installed the plugin from aescripts + aeplugins. I had installed this plugin before, and it worked fine. But then I had my laptop serviced and they reinstalled Windows, so I had to download everything again using the same AE and plugin version, but this time it's giving me this error. I've tracked a shot and created a 3D camera, added a logo and text in the shot.  I've added drop shadow and stroke to the text, and drop shadow to the logo but they don't show up.  As soon as I turn off 3D in each layer, they're magically there.I did the same exact thing last year to a project.  As a matter of fact, I opened the project and there was the drop shadow. I've added them as an effect and as a layer style, neither work.I'm pull out what few hairs I have left.TVS 

Hi all! I am trying to create my own .mogrt file of a typewriter effect that's meant to mimick a robot speaking, with plans to move it into Premiere Pro so I can control the speed, font, colours, etc for future projects. The attached image is from a template that I downloaded, and the speed can be controlled via this slider and NOT keyframes.  The below image is my effect that I'm creating. As you can see, it has the normal 'slider' with the keyframes. My issue is that I want to bring this into Premiere Pro and control the speed in there, and that can't work with keyframes. Does anybody know how that 'speed' fx was added onto the first image, allowing the typewriter effect to be made without keyframes? Thanks! Every time I use extractor on an EXR sequence AE will crash on re-opening said project. My work around is to disabble the effect, delete it from all layers, then re-open the project enable it again, restart again, then re-aply extractoR at which point it will work until I close the project and re-open it. I have seen many people complain about this exact issue, and it happens regaurdless of the footage I use. So it's not that or some other effect. I have multiple projects that require EXRs at the moment and it happens on all of them. I have tried all the recomended solutions updateding drivers, disabling multi-frame rendering, clearing all cache and media files, updating AE/Encodeer updating windwos etc. Does anyone have a propor solution for this? AE 25.5Windows 11 

How do I install a version of AE 24.x now? Creative Cloud only has versions 25.x and later. Where do I go to download an earlier version? Thank you.

Issue - Shape Layer with Transform Effect using layer mask as effect mask – adjusting keyframes crashes AE. Steps to reproduce - Add a mask to a shape layer (created by Overlord in my case) using Layer>Mask>New Mask, add a Transform Effect, add position keyframes so the contents of the Shape layer are outside the mask and animate to the original position. Use the mask as an Effect mask. Notice that mask is not masking on first frame but otherwise appears to animate into position. Adjust first position keyframe to crash After Effects. Expected result - Shape layer contents should move via the Transform Effect. Actual result -  After Effects crashes. I have an .OBJ 3D model. Whenever I add the sbpar mesh, it turns my image flat. No matter how I shape the light, the image is flat. Looks almost like a PNG. When i turn the sbpar mesh off, the 3D details comes back.
