After Effects

Hello, I don't know if I'm the only one having this issue... Everytime I try to collect a single comp from my project (Dependencies - Collect files), AE will make a copy of the whole project, even when "for selected comps" and "reduce project" is selected.  The screenshots show that the file size doesn't change, no matter if I'm trying to save all the comps or one single, rather small, comp. Using AE 18.2.1 in a Macbook pro M1  Anyone having the same issue / has a clue how to solve it? Thanks!  

HiI would love to shut up an annoying colleague....Het says, there is absolutely no way that we can create AE projects which later on clients can just customise... for example: different photo / logo / visual... without them having to work in after effects I believe I once read about something similar but can't seem to find anything... Anybody got a lead on something like this? thx

Hi,I have just started learning Adobe After Effects. I bought some tutorials from famous sites and also YouTube is a great help.I keep noticing something which I do not understand.people in some cases convert psd and ai file into shapes ( creat> shapes from vector layer).In some case the take three/four layes and pre compose them.Some times they directly use ai and psd files.I thought I alwys have to convert vector/psd files into ‘shapes’. But these people are giving me ‘confusion’.What is  the standard way to deal ai and psd file in After effect?

In the latest update of After Effects I noticed that when using Time Remap I don’t see the source timecode anymore, but only the time starting from 0 at the first frame.Can anybody tell me where I can change this behaviour back to showing source timecode?There must be some toggle somewhere, but I can’t find it.In Interpret footage the option ‘Use timecode from source’ is selected, but I still don’t see it.I’m doing a lot of VFX work with a lot of time remapping, and it’s essential to have access tot the timecode to match an edit.I don’t want to put the timecode effect on all layers, that is a mistake waiting to happen.Anyone knows where this toggle is?Thanks!

Hello, when I use after effects and press spacebar, the blue playhead is standing still and there is a red one moving.  I hope you know what i mean. The red playhead that is moving now is kind of choppy. The video is fluent but the red playhead isnt quite. Do you know a solution? I habe a good Pc so it cant be that.  Thanks.  

I just purchased a new iMac and loaded After Effects. While in After Effects 2020 an Apple message appeared saying something along the lines that "After Effects wants to record your screen". I clicked deny. The new Mac is running Catalina.My old system is Sierra with AE2019. I have never had this message come up before. It also came up in Illustrator 2020. I never had this message on old mac and older AE.Is this something new with 2020 Adobe versions?

I'm really struggling to make an image continue/loop in the timeline for more than 6 seconds. That was the maximum it allowed me to extend. It was originally 2 milliseconds long. Furthermore, there are some bits on the image that are supposed to be "see-through" with a transparent background but for some reason, when I apply the "fill" effect, it covers those bits up. Only to let them "see-through" again out of nowhere in the timeline, without me adding any other effect or animation to it. Could anyone please help me understand what I'm doing wrong and why this is happening?

Hey im sure several people have made post about this but ive had after effects for a while and have not had any problem with it until recently. for some reason it would just crash on start my old pc was pretty weak especially trying to run something as demanding as AE so i gave up after unsuccessful attempts to troubleshoot it. just last week i upgraded some stuff in my pc and decided "hey why dont i try my hand at some AE projects." but the crash still persist i uninstalled AE and reinstalled it and it still just refuses to work. i keep gettin this message: "After effects error: crash in progress. last logged message was: <15764> <NGL><5> GetAMTData returned mErrorCode = NglStatusCode:401 workflow required"  my pc specs are as followscpu: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHzRam: 32.0 GBgpu: AMD XFX Speedster Qick319 7800xt Radeon 16 gb vramOs: Windows 10 Pro 

When I upgraded to AE 24 and 25, I noticed that After Effects requires significantly more resources. I upgraded my RAM to 128GB, but it still uses up all the available resources and occasionally crashes, indicating that even 128GB isn't enough!Has anyone else experienced this issue? What should I do?I’ve already updated the After Effects preferences to allocate more resources, but it seems like the more resources I provide, the more AE consumes. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated! i use "Quarter" for preview not "FULL" AMD Ryzen 5 , 5600A550 Pro MotherboardHyper X 12GB ramGeforce RTX 2060, 6GBwindows 11 proSSD 2 TB, and the cache on a separte 1TD SSD   

I am looking to recreate this website's square based opening logo in a gif format for another website. The square stroke animation and then the wavy-like square perimeter that transitions to the home page. This is the first time I am working on a logo transition like this with vectors. Can someone on provide me with a good step by step instructions on how to recreate this transitional animation?

Hello!I am using the new Blinking Curosor Typewriter Console effect but would like to create a custom blinking cursor. I'm trying to mimick the interface of ChatGPT when it replies to a prompt. The cursor in that reference is more of a large blinking rectangle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 

Algum tempo estou tendo essa dificuldade.Alguns vídeos que recebo, quando importo para o After ou Premier estão com as cores totalmente alteradas, nos players do Windows elas rodam bonitinho, mas em qualquer editor de video que coloco as cores ficam completamente diferentes.Vi que em alguns casos isso ocorre por causa do perfil de cores de videos gravados com Iphone, e alguns tutoriais sugeriram a interpretação de cor para REC709, mas não adiantou nada.Alguém mais tem esse mesmo problema?Estou usando o After Effects E Premiere 2025No windows 11 PRO

Hi,I am working on a project where I have tons of texts , to be animated, all individual letter needs to be scaled from centre.  I dnt wanna move them from layer contets. Beacuse I will animate the layer as well. Is there any way/plugin/shortcut I can use to snap all these content's anchorpoint automatically (dnt wanna do it manually 😥 ) Thank you.

Please help! While I was editing the timeline disappeared and won't come back. I tried closing and reopening after effects but that didn't work, I tried switching workspaces and that didn't fix it either.

Trying to install and run AE 25.1. (or even the beta).  no luck.  the startup goes fine until it crashed with an error messaying  "Transmit plugin 'DecklinkTransmit' has crashed".25.01 started up just fine.   very frustrating. I've tired un-insalling, reinstalling  and starting up in safe mode,   no luck.tried to do a search to locate any plugin by that name, no luck.any idea?  thnks.

I don't know what this kind of function or effect is called; How can I track the luminance or lightness of a certain selected area, in a way similar to how motion is tracked, and convert the level into keyframes to apply to an effect on another layer?  For example, if I have a layer with an explosion or a candle, I would like to track the luminance of a selected area, and then use that data to manipulate a variable like Exposure (but also other effects) on another layer. 

Running Ae 25 on MacOS 15.1. I'm using a custom dual screen workspace in After Effects, and upon launch, my secondary window is outside the bounds of my screen, i.e. I can't grab the edges of the window to resize it properly. (See attached screenshot; entire screen is shown.) Running Mission Control makes the window disappear because it's the secondary window. I use the app Magnet to automatically resize windows, but it too is nonfunctional on this window. 🙃 How can I resize this window to the proper size?

I tried importing a .glb file, but AE reads it as a .fla file for some reason. Why does this happen? What am I doing wrong?

Hi everyone,I'm having trouble with an expression, and after trying multiple workarounds, I still can't get it to work. Maybe you have an idea or a hint?Here's my setup:I have several text layers (Item01, Item02, etc.), each with a slider called "Value."The slider values change over time on different layers.I want to sort the layers dynamically, so the layer with the highest value is always on top. If the values change, the order updates automatically. This part is already working! The issue is that the position changes instantly, and I want to smooth the transition using ease or linear. But no matter what I try, I can't get it to work properly. I've experimented with different approaches. This (below) method works for the first few seconds, but later in the timeline, the smooth transition stops working. I cant figure out to get the ease working with the right timing, the problem is (i guess) that the calculation for the ease time is wrong...but i dont know how to fix it...i
