After Effects

I have a 2D map of Europe that I pre-composed into a 3D composition with a null-parented camera. In my 3D composition, I'm adding the Sea as a background 3D layer. Is there an expression I can use that would make the Sea layer size match the Pre-Comp layer Map size, so I don't have to do this manually?I'm essentially trying to crop the Sea layer to the Map layer. Just wondering if there's an expression for that.  Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am learning expressions. I did everythng verbetim mentioned in the PDF am following, but am not getting what am supposed to. My expression never works and it makes me upset. I must have done something wrong. Please guide me.

Is there a way to see objects which are placed outside the canvas? (Outside the dimensions of the composition) Off stage. Like in Animate or Illustrator.That would be so handy for me, animating stuff which come sliding in/out of view.

Hey guys, I just update my AE software recently and noticed a huge issue with no solutions on web.Since the last update, AE is perpetually crashing with messages like: "not enough ram to render image" (I have 64Gb of DDR4 RAM and 42Gb of VRAM) whit 56Gb allowed only to AE with no other softwares open.And this issue is non stop. On Adobe and other sites, not only one solution proposed fix the issue.  Is it a problem from 24.5? Did you guys downgrade to 23.6.9 and this is solving the issues?  Is there an alternative for AE? Personnaly I am sick of this programm. Even with a war machine, this software is barely usable: 1 layer with just some keyframes, and you can't play the animation without lagging... Is someone try Fusion yet? Have a great day, Leo.

Hi gang; I have an idea of the answer but I wanted to verify. When developing plugins, I am assuming it is important to have each and every parameter named uniquely in the actual interfact, correct? If not, when creating an expression and adding the parameter name, if there are multiple instances of the same name, there will be issues, right? There are times when you don't need unique names. In my case, I have a plugin that has a start and end point, under different topics. So I have, for example: Start Point (topic) Position Color Width etc... Start Point (end topic) End Point (topic) Position Color Width etc... End Point (end topic) I am assuming that this is not wise and instead you would want unique names for each parameter like so: Start Point (topic) Start Position Start Color Start Width etc... Start Point (end topic) End Point (topic) End Position End Color End Width etc... End Point (end topic) Otherwise creating an expression which contain

Cinema 4D won't open from AE when I create a new Maxon C4D project. I have attached screen shots of the error I get when it attempts to open. Does anyone have a solution to fixing this problem? Thanks,EVH

I am wondering how to add depth to layers (extrude them) so that when they rotate they have a thickness? When I try to use cinema 4d as suggested in some tutorials I get the attached error message. "Frame dimensions exceed internal limits"I'm struggling to find a solution or a way to solve this error.  Any help would be super appreciated. 

Hi community. I have an a problem with my AE previwes.Not matter how the complex is the composition it only shoes only 2 seconds in a preview. I've tried setting up all the memory again, adjusting the resolutuion to third, deleting cache, re istalling AE, and have the same issue. Now I've update the las version and no fix at all. In AE Beta works well. But not in 24.6.9Can you help me??Running on Apple M1 Max64 GB  

I there a way to get 3D Cutouts within 1 shape layer just using the basic vector shapes to add vertex shape animations in 3D?  Is this not possible in the Advanced 3D yet?I have this setup in Advanced 3D but can't figure out where to enable the cutout options. Generally with masks, there are clear options, but being restricted to shapes is a pain. layers just seem to need to be stacked in just the right way like below.  

Part tutorial, part investigation of a classic effect.   After finding out that the DVDs for Star Trek: The Next Generation included an extra where the elements used to make up the iconic transporter look were shown, I decided to see if I could recreate them within After Effects. The original footage in the extra is not quite complete and is in SD quality. I saw it in a roundtable video on YouTube and the compression has not helped it either. So the challenge was can I use just the included effects in AE to get close. Hello, in PremierePro, I use the combo PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM/PF_CHECKIN_PARAM in various places (SequenceSetup, SequenceResetup, Render, ...) to get/set (read/write) paramaters value but in AfterEffects params paremeter is NULL in PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETUP, PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_RESETUP and PF_CHECKOUT_PARAM crashes the plugin. Is there a way to get/set parameters values outside of Render ? Thanks in advance David

Hi,My comp is 4000x4000, 30 fps. at 12.26 time  my frame is 386.so I created one light flickering animation with 3 frames, first and last color same, middle is another color. gap between them is 10 frames. so I want the light  flickering loop animation to stop exactly at 12.26 (time) frame (386).after some study I came to learn that  --- loopOutDuration(type = "cycle", duration = 0)--- this is the expression I have to use in such case. and in '0' I have to write the time I want the loop animation to stop. But if I put '12.26' in '0' flickering stops. nothing happens. if '0' remains flickering going on till the end. what am doing wrong? Please guide me. :'(

Anytime I have AE open, it causes my fans to roar. I owned a 4 year Corsair One that didn't cause my fans to roar. When I try to run After Effects, I get a message saying that there was a conflict with the last session and it won't run. I've been using AE for a few years now, but since I'm self-taught I struggle a bit with the vocabulary and how to search the "right" words to find useful results. I hope I'm communicating my question in a way that makes sense, and please feel free to educate me on the correct terms if I'm not using them correctly. When I use a mask, the handles(?) usually move as a straight line as I adjust it as seen in photo 1. However, sometimes they just stop working like that and only one side will move independantly, photo 2. I'm sure I'm accidently hitting a hot key or something that enables/disables this function, but I have no idea what it is or even how to properly search for a solution online. How do I enable and disable this function? Thanks everyone! 

Managed to resize font for menus, but cannot work out how to resize fonts for left hand side,Name Type File Size etc, and also trying to increase size of icons in timelne,  Audio, Solo, Lock Shy, Motion Blue etc. They are just too small to view properly. Any advice please.
