After Effects

Hi, Each time I convert an Ai file into shape layer it changed it name with  an extra word 'Outlines' with it. I dnt want it. manullay removing it from many layers  is so waste of time. How can I get rid of it. Thank you

After a short searching, i couldnt find any gloss contour effect or layer style in AE So is thier any alternatives for that ?A couple of effects or external plugin etc... ?I dont know why a beautiful feature like this isn't included in the AE

Using after effects used to be incredibely easy. I would use very complicated comps and 3D room building and plugins constantly, 3D texts etc. I have done way more complicated projects and it's worked perfectly fine. But recently all I'm trying to do is import previously rendered mov files into the timeline and it won't even play. Disk cache is empty. My performance settings are at where they should be (or at least they've never changed from what worked well for me before). I got irritated and thought maybe it's the project file itself. So I rendered everything I had so far, created a whole new project and imported the rendered footage. And it still can't play, pre-rendering is not working (glitches and breaks). I get RAM errors when there's nothing wrong with my RAM. Pressing play doesn't work sometimes. Sometimes the audio breaks and doesn't play. I have to turn the entire PC off and restart for the audio to work again. And it'll stop responding and force close when I try and mo

I have some 3d extruded characters (numbers) that I want to float into the scene from a distance from different orientations coming to rest in front of the camera. The issue I'm having is that when I ease the Z axis so they come to a gentle stop, the characters start to curve out of the frame. I can't wrap my brain around how to maintain linear motion on the z axis, but change the speed of the character. I've included the video for reference. I need the 2 to come to a stop simultaneously with the 1 without swinging wide. Note - I don't know how I managed to get the 1 to do this, and when I copy it and try to change anything it no longer works. What am I not doing here!? Link to video: https://imgur.com/6OjIAHC

Hello, all! I am experimenting with a new workflow and have come across an issue. I am a wedding videographer who works with lots of clips and do not want warp stabilizer and Neat Video bogging down my projects. Instead of transcoding all of my files in Media Encoder and then applying these effects in my Premiere project and then having to toggle effects off to allow smooth playback, I have decided to apply these effects directly to my log footage in After Effects and then use a script to render all layers seperately. This way I get my most hardware intensive effects out of the way when transcoding. So I imported all of my files and then opted to open each clip as a seperate composition; If I didn't do this I would have to either toggle visibility on each clip as I make my way down the layers, or add one layer to the timeline at a time as I go. With each layer as a composition I can simply click the next project as I go. I then complied all of the video files and newly created comps in

While editing I pressed ctrl + Z and not sure if I pressed another shortcut but shortly after I lost all the media in this window. When I play it still shows the video playing but I am unable to see it in the window highlighted. I restarted my AA, and reset workspace view... nothing worked. Any help? 

I'm trying to figure out why this blue line appeared around my composition window in After Effects. And I haven't been able to figure out the source. Has anyone else run into this issue?  

Hi Guys,I've written a script for myself to output a folder of presets into a comp, staggered at the current CTI point. SO for example I get a comp with 3s of each preset. Then I can render it out for a preview type file. Amongst other uses. It works great apart form one problem.If i have a mix of presets that use either a text layer or shape layer or solid, i cannot work out a way for the script to know which is which whilst creating the layer for the preset. Currently I am grouping the presets that I know are shape layers, solids/adjjustments, etc and text layers. But I donlt think this is ideal.Is there a way we can parse the ffx to find what layer type it was built to use. Or can you apply the preset in some way that that in applying the layer type is determined, just as if you did so in the GUI.Does anyone know how to solve this, I'm interested to hear a solution if possible.

Hi, Made a project with around 100 objects moving, with (shadow, wiggle, lightkey green screen clips moving with objects) effects - it's battle maps. Now naturally, there is no way for me to preview further updates that I'm making. Preview is near dead. And I am new to After Effect. My PC system:Ryzen 3950X4070Ti 64GB RAM (albeit I plugged in a bit slower 32G RAM which de-clocked the whole RAM setup)Nvme SSDs So my question is, having burdened the project as much with everything, how am I supposed to now tweak things and not wait for 10 hours for the video to export, to see what I've done? Turning off effects one by one is an option I imagine, but having so many objects, it's a bit time consuming. Is there a better way? Particularily, because now I have to add the heaviest effect, a number counter of army numbers that dynamically move with the armies. There is just no chance I can add and preview that on top of having all the other effects running. Thank y

Hello guys, I am slowly trying to learn after effects and there is a big question that always bugs me and I can't figure it out. Say I have this comp, which is too cluttered, as you can see.So I want to pre-comp it in order to clear the space, and of course in order to animate the whole spaceship at once.The problem is that, when I pre-comp and then try to add a background image, the image doesn't appear and the new composition background stays black, no matter what I do.Blending modes don't help.And I don't know what to do. I have tried the shift channels effects and the linear color key effect, but i can't get them to work. Also, transparent grid is checked as the images show.What is the solution here? Thanks for any input!!

I used to be able to create a marker by pressing Shift + a number, and then jump to a specific marker by pressing the corresponding number. But it suddenly dones't work now. Here are more detailed informaiton:1. The other marker related shortcuts still work2. I reset shortcut setting to default still can't solve the preoblem(also turn off all other applications to avoid potential shortcuts conflicts)3. I tried different shortcut combination it works successfully, as shown in the image below.Anyone know the reasons? Thanks for your help.

Hello,  I've just exported a film I've made on After Effects but have found the shots have lost a significant amount of quality from the 4k originals (see attachments - the first is the AE export, the second is the 4k original), any tips on how to fix this? Kind regards

Hi , I am very new to after effects, I am open to learning anything needed. I need to make a Multiple clone scene ( the link i have attached below ) similar to the clip. I have taken the shots without the Mocobot ie just a left to right panning shot 7 times , as it involves 7 clones. Could anyone help me how should I edit it so that i can see mutliple clones in the clip. Also there seems to be a little problem with the timing of the 7 clips , one starts to pan early where as other starts to pan a little late ( which i believe requires frame to frame editing).When I masked the clones it does not overlap correctly over the Base Layer, I started editing frame by frame (it took hours for one sec ) but even then the results were poor and is there any way to do it better and quicker . Every clip was captured at 60fps 4k in an iphone. I own a laptop with 16gb RAM and 3050 graphics, I request you share your opinion on how to edit in simple terms as I am just a beginner. Lin

Hi, So I start The fish animation by making it a bit slanted. (0.6 degree) That was to be the original position. I thought I will apply angle control to animate rotation without hampering the initial potition ( slanted body position,0.6 degree). But when I apply angle control the initial rotation becomes 0. I Want the body to be staying in that slanted position and want another rotation animation on that slanted position and I want a loop out animation on that secondary rotation values and  also this new rotation loop needs to match the rythm of  position Y loop. How can I do it. any way? I tried making 0.6 a 2nd keyframe value, as pause, and start animating after that, it destroys the sync. It looks as if the fish suddenly starts rotating in a weird way. Thank you. 

Hello, I'm currently working on two projects and I noticed that the fonts are no longer available when I saved, closed and reopened the project to continue working on it. Version of AE: 24.5Windows Also the second screenshot attached shows the list of fonts not available that I have used so far on one of the projects. I have cleared my cache and restarted by PC but nothing has worked so far.These are Adobe fonts and they are active on my account from Adobe Creative Cloud. Please what other solution should I consider as I'm stuck at the moment. Thank you. 

Hi, I'm looking to create two effects, however, I couldn't find it anywhere. I want to achieve the effect of darkening a specific area. Particularly clothes in the rain, where I want to edit how the raindrops are absorbed in individual places. Also I would like to ask, how to edit a bulge effect in a way, where the center of the effect stay in place, but it will affect the layer only in specific direction Example: Thank you, Vojtěch 

Does anyone know of a repeater plugin that would enable me to apply a repeater effect to images like PNG or JPEG files in After Effects? I know how to do it with vector files that you then convert to shape layers. And I know there are workarounds for adding a repeater effect to images like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVOBkECRLKQ But I was hoping there might be some plugin I haven't come across yet that simplifies this task. I've heard of Trapcode Echospace but it's very expensive. I believe you need Trapcode for that which costs over $400.  Thank you in advance for any help with this.  

Is it possible to link a Layer’s opacity to more than one dropdown? For example if I want two specific dropdown options to be selected in order for a layer to be visible, what would that code look like?Right now, it's just tying the opacity to the second dropdown (Team 1) listed below. I shot some footage in HDR for a movie, but that movie is going to be edited in SDR and rendered in SDR, I only shot it in HDR because they were dark scenes with strong light sources, so although I didn't get the same result in SDR as HDR, the information was recorded and so I could see if I wanted to expose the footage for highlights or for shadows, and to simply have more information to work with.When I imported the HDR footage into the SDR after-effects, it didn't look good at all, but that's obvious, and I was already out of it, so I did what I'm supposed to, “Interpret footage --> Main --> Color) and changed the color space of the HDR videos to REC.709, because that was the one that gave me the best results, then I just adjusted the footage with some effects and it looked amazing.The problem is, only 10% of the frames look beautiful, the other 90% are totally buggy, and it seems to be totally random.I know for a fact that it's not the video, because the VLC player I use auto
