After Effects

Shorts are becoming an increasingly popular "product". I inserted a few recordings directly from my mobile phone without any problems. But I want to elaborate some "SHORTS" in AE. When I export them, even though they are less than 1 minute long and vertical, YB inserts them as a video. What am I doing wrong? What are the correct settings I should do??? HEEEELP please!!!!

My project audio keeps skipping/fast-forwarding when I hit preview. I tried bunch of videos and posts about audio lagging and stuff but nothing is working right now. I'm using the latest 2024 version. I closed and opened the project several times. It didn't work.I tried switching audio hardware device class from MME to ASIO like one post did, and it didn't work.I changed preview settings and composition settings (frame rates, viewer quality, mute audio when preview is not real time, etc). Didn't work.I tried clearing cache, whatever that is, and it didn't work.... I'm really new to this software and would wholeheartedly appreciate any solution to this problem. Thank you in advance!!  

Everytime I try to render the video it renders as a blank file, a zero second white screen. My video is 15 seconds long with no sound, but I'm not sure why this keeps happening, can't find anything about it onlineHelp!

Hi folks,I'm new to After Effects. Hi, I've created a shape with pen tool. It is rectangle like this. Then I select two verteces to the right and increase it's size to the right. It should become square like this. I couldn't find how to do this animation. Can anybody help me?

Hi I'm having trouble with my graphs. They were working completely fine until suddenly on only one of my projects the graphs just don't work. I have both keyframes being different, they have been easy eased and auto-zoom graph height is on. To have a graph I must change a value to be extremely high to have a big difference. My graphs also are different colours, the same colour as the value I have selected gets highlighted for some reason, instead of being gray like usual. I really don't know what to do. 

WHEN I IMPORT 3D MODEL IN TO AFTER EFFECTS IT COMES INVISIBLE AND I CANT SEE IT

Hi, I have a 20 second clip, where object (child) is moving only about a second.I'm trying to apply rotobrush, so that later I can change background.But rotobrush propagates to all frames. The part I need have about 20 frames.Rotobrush starts to propagate to all 180 or 200 frames.How can I apply rotobrush to only part that I need?

Hello,when i try to 3D Camera Track my footage, it says that AfterEffects is unable to obtain the dynamiclink proj.There is no dynamic link project. The only Adobe software installed is AfterEffects (and Creative Cloud) This makes no sense to me.Btw: CreativeCloud is unable to connect to my Internet (i dont know why)I already checked my firewall settings.Maybe thats important for fixing.

Hey everyone,   I'm a long-time Adobe user and I've been thinking:  Why is there still no quick AI-based video editing tool in AfterEffects? GAN and Diffusion-based models are rapidly improving and automated frame-by-frame editing has been around for a long time. Why is there still no quick, user-friendly aging, de-aging, digital makeup, etc available in AE? The tech is already here so it should be easy for Adobe to pioneer the market and release a user-friendly desktop version for professional VFX.    I expect Adobe to be at the forefront of AI advances but it looks like they are falling behind. The Neural filters are rather disappointing and useless in comparison to the ease of use and consistency of for example FaceApp. Why not build on the GAN-based technology that allows FaceApp to do quick and seamless AI editing and improve it by offering automated frame-by-frame batch-editing for seamless VFX in video production? I'm creating a logo animation where the below graphic draws-in with the 'end' property of a 'Generate / Stroke' effect. This comp sits within my main comp, but when I scale up the logo animation comp, the brush size doesn't scale. Meaning the 'Reveal original image' looks really thin. I think this is because I originally had the 'collapse transformations' setting turned on, so I tried disabling it and now the stroke scales properly. But now the problem is that the graphic gets really pixellated when I scale it up? 

I'm saving my project as an aep file so I can have it for future editing. Sometimes Adobe will kick me back to the original directory and insist I save it as an untitled project. If I try to save it anywhere else and give it any other name than the default of untitled, After effects will automatically kick me back to the original directory I was in when I started my project and revert the name back to the default of UNTITLED. What I have to do then is accept the defaults, close After Effects, manually move the aep file to where I want it with my mouse and rename it using Windows (right-click - RENAME). Doesn't always happen but whewn it does this is the only apparent fix. Any bright ideas? Be nice if I could do a video capture, however I can't make it happen, it does this at random. Thank you.

Hello, I am very new to AE and trying to complete a project. I have been searching in the forum but am not finding the right questions as I am not sure how to word this issue. If anyone can decipher what I mean to be asking, I thought it would be worth a shot.  With the text and effects working well, I made a small edit to the wording of my text. I must have hit a key while outside the editing panel. You may be able to see in the image attached that -- while there is no motion in the images, the structure of the individual letters seem to flicker on and off. Not the entire character but just portions of them. For example the 'M' is missing the left leg of the letter, and the Y is missing the bottom leg, etc. This tends to 'flicker' but not as flickering is normally. Almost like there is another text strng floating over it or something, occassionally blocking out portions of other characters, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks!    

Sometimes when I open a project with multiple plugins, the screen crashes, becomes black, and then comes back normal. However, in the preview screen, everything is white. i never had this problem for 3 years but now it happens often.i dont think is a problem of my pc cuz it has a 2060rtx , 16gb RAM,and i510th . 

When I use the "replace with After Effects composition" option on text/captions, it removes the stroke effect from the text.   

Same applies to other effects, and even installing AE 2023 instead of 2024 and reseting preferences, turning off all plugins won't help. 

Say I've got various precomps in differing positions, depths and rotations in 3D space, and I want the camera to fly from one to the other, automatically rotating itself as necessary so that when it lands, the comp is perfectly framed square-on. What's the correct workflow to do that?I used to use VideoCopilot's excellent "Sure Target" plugin, that let you assign up to 99 layers as camera targets and animate the movement between them very easily, but that was broken a while back by AE updates and it looks like VC aren't going to fix it. There doesn't seem to be any kind of equivalent camera control plugin out there either.

I have watched the top youtube results and forum results for this question. The best I could find was a video of someone that would create a path, open the dropdown to select the path, then paste the shape. It works great in the video but I cant replicate it. Hi!! I recently updated my Magic Bullet Looks Suite to 14 which lead to all of my custom looks disappearing and being removed from the "custom" folder. I managed to download them again and place them back in the proper presets folder which should have made them show up in the app but they never did. I use MBL on After Effects by the way. I've tried to uninstall and install MBL but that never worked. I'm not sure what to do. Please help!!

Hey just installed everything ready for AE 2022 Mac version. I have some effects and presets ready a ton of them, and I want a custom folder so I can navigate from what’s basic and my “own” stuff, I tried making a folder called “Text pack” with the custom text fonts etc but it doesn’t show up in the after effects program, I've followed every step on youtube and i should've done it right, it appears as it should be in AE-Presets. (view pictures)

I'd like to use a soft matte on a pre-comp layer, based on its existing intermediate opacity map; i.e. starting from what's visible as-is, and give that soft edges.So I thought I could use the "Refine Soft Matte" effect to do just that, but this results in a black shadow around the layer contents, as if they're composed of a foreground pasted on a black background, and the background areas masked out by the mask that gets softened.The strange thing is, it's still a black shadow when I give the pre-comp a white background, I still get a black shadow.How do I get rid of that? The pre-comp uses a tracked 3D layer, but I turned all material options off so I think that should not be the problem.It feels like this should be solved by clicking one button, but I couldn't for the life of me find it &#x1f605

I have no idea why - but in AE 2024, they made it so that instead of being able to select a layer and press Alt+Shift+S,P,R to easily animate all three properties, they made it so that after you animate one property the layer DESELECTS. Multiple times now I've accidentelly animated a property on every single layer in the timeline out of sheer muscle memory. Why in the world would they change this? Is there a setting to revert it back to its old behavior?

Thought I'd post this for anyoen who might have the same problem I had. I'm not sure how it is in WIndows, but in MacOS, if you have your fonts installed from an external hard drive, and you unplug that drive, After Effects isn't smart enough to know what's going on. It just defaults to  "After Effects Warning: Unknow Exception", and won't launch.  For those wondering why I'd store my fonts on a secondary drive, those of us with giant font libraries, using font managers, it's quite common to store our fonts on a different drive than the OS. Also, using font management helps declutter the OS. Anyway, if you find that you are getting this error, and After Effects won't start up, check your fonts. 🙂
