Hello there.Here's the problem, yesterday I was working in a project in 24.0.3 version of AE and all was fine.Today I opened same project on the same PC and got ERROR imprting MOV files. "CANNOT READ FROM SOURCE" "UNSOPPORTED COMPRESSION" etc.HOWEVER, if I import SAME mov files in the NEW project all works like a charmAny advice?

Hi all,I've developped a plugin that uses OpenGL, and as a starting point, I used the GLator sample plugin, which works great in all cases except one:Say I open a project that uses my plugin, and is currently processing a frame to preview it in the viewer. If I immediatly do File > New project, it will make After Effects crash with the following error : "Crash in progress. i_context.unique check failed".  Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this ? Thanks a lot

I'm posting this in the hopes that there are others who can go back to a some-what familiar workflow and also to announce that, at least in my use case, the flagship feature of AE 22--Multi-Frame Rendering--has been the cause of my Dynamic Linking issues and quirks for nearly a year. Disabling Multi-Frame Rendering in After Effects solved nearly ALL of my Dynamic Linking issues. Windows 10-ProIntel i9-9900K, 8-core (3.6GHz)RTX 2080 Black Edition (8GB GDDR6)64GB RAM (3200 Mhz) I am a relatively early-adopter when new software updates come out. I trust Adobe does its due diligence and would not release professional software to its subscriber base without extensive testing. Sure, some bugs are part of life, but things that can be found, patched, and fixed. Hello, how are you doing today? I have new MacBook o laptop and I will need to transfer all my Adobe creative suite programs, plug-ins, preferences, workspaces to my new laptop from my old laptop. The older laptop has all my older version of my programs, plug-ins, etc. that I want to keep and use in the newer versions. The transfer is what is preventing me from using my new laptop. I never have done this before and I am just really confused with the process. What I am asking for help is if anybody can please explain to me where I need to look to find my plugins, preferences, workspaces so I can export them a and import them into the new laptop? Also, would I have to install the plugins again on the new computer? I would appreciate it very much. I am going to have to do this for each program now. I wish there was a way when you install the new versions that it would automatically transfer your previous settings you used before using the same account.

I want to know how we can make our own customised noise layers and add them to the list of electric , turbulence, flame noise layers to name a few I'm guessing that they would have to be png sequences with alpha or gif & transparent back ground or something similar & where or what file would they need to be added into ?

What I am trying to do is access information through scripting such as files that have been imported into the project. Is there any way to open up after effects in a non-gui mode the way nuke can be opened in terminal mode?

Hello! I am trying to find the solution to be able to apply different fonts when I have an Asian and a Western text in the same text layer. So far, I have only been able to change it by selecting those characters and changing it in the font selector. My idea is to automate the font change but for this, first I need to find a way to change in a single step using scripting or expressions. For example, in this text 2023年11月27日, that the numbers have one font and the Japanese text have another different font. Does anyone know any solution?

When I decide to Freeze the render of the Roto Brush, it sets what seems like an arbitrary limit to the number of frames it'll freeze.  So this is the full timeline of footage that I'm trying to rotoscope out from the green screen: You can see I have like 20-25 secs total. But it stops freezing just after maybe 8 or 9 seconds.  Here is a screenshot of the frame count when I click Freeze: How/why did it pick 235 frames to freeze when it should be so many more (20+ seconds worth)?  Finding this very frustrating because it seems so arbitrary each time, and it's not consistent in terms of how many frames it caps it at. Is it a cache issue? Storage or memory issue? I think I have plenty of RAM allocated and storage right now. But curious if anyone knows.

I sent a clip over from Premiere Pro to After Effects.  I added Advanced Lightning to that Composition (I did it on top of a Black Solid actually).So, first of all, when the Lightning flickers, it keeps on flickering WHITE and GRAY.  I don't want it to flicker GRAY. But also, I tried changing the Lightning color with the Curves effect, but the Curves effect is doing absolutely nothing to the Lightning color. I'm thinking I must have a setting that's affecting this, but I can't figure it out.  If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated!!

HiI am quite inexperienced with after effects and created a project using a template.  I have gone in to make a few changes and it seems that the fast blur effect is now obsolete.  Can someone tell me how I can fix this in this template?  Any help greatly appreciated.

HiI have a simple graphic made up in Illustrator of two outlined shapes that blend in 10 steps from one shape to another. It both changes colour and line thickness. How can I go about animating this in AE and create a fluid 3D motion effect of turning inside out, twisting, rotating and manipulating each of the paths to create new shapes. I'm just learning and not sure where to start looking on how to do this or even if its possible in AF. Any step by step info would really help. Thanks

Hello. I ended up finishing a project that already had some problems. Then after effects asked to make a copy of the project and reopen it. Therefore, I thought there was no longer any need to use the first .aep of the project so I deleted it. Now at the end of the project, there is no problem with lack of content. However, when I leave it at full resolution, the composition screen goes black. But if I set the resolution to half or below that, it returns to normal. At the moment I am rendering the project in half mode. But could anyone tell me what the problem is with my project?

But right now I'm struggling to pass data between the CPU-side of the plugin to the GPU-side (e.g. data allocated and set during PF_Cmd_SEQUENCE_SETUP).In the GPUFilter I tried to use GetProperty( kVideoSegmentProperty_Transition_TransitionOpaqueData ), but always received an suiteError_IDNotValid error.I also tried to call prSuiteError suiteError = mVideoSegmentSuite->GetNodeProperty(instanceID, kVideoSegmentProperty_Transition_TransitionOpaqueData, &buffer);directly with instanceID == kVideoSegmentProperty_Transition_RuntimeInstanceID, but received the same error.Then I tried to use the PrSDKOpaqueEffectDataSuite. Wondering if this is possible. Specifically, I want to add the roughen effect to a thin stroke in front of a wider stroke. Ultimately I could apply this strategy to the fill and stroke separately. My workaround if I wanted to change the shape of path would be to delete the top layer, modify the lower layer, duplicate, and apply a saved preset to the new layer. Thanks all.

So i had element 3d on my pc for about a month and it was working, and then one time i opened it and when i opened scene setup nothing appeared and i had to press f4 to access after effects again. Can anyone help?

Freshly updated Ae Beta v24.2.0.19:Project that worked fairly ok yesterday now freezes to semi-transparent white on timeline playback for long time.1st time it didn't unfreeze and ended up in crash. 2nd time unfroze after approx. 10 seconds...
