My time line every time I press to view it skips 1 second, it never plays from the beginning, this gray bar remains selected, can anyone help me? 

Hello! I have been using AE for a long time and never found a solution.  When importing any video to AE it looks darker, no matter the color profile settings, I have tried sRGB, Rec709. Then when exporting, the final output file mp4 looks fine, same as the source video. So my question is, Why does AE make the video darker? what if I want to do a Lumetri Color Retouch in AE? or any retouch. Color displayed is not accurate. See attached image as example. how to make the wave warp effect be like the top part of the wave warp is high in strength and the bottom part is low? I tried the mask + compositing option but that made it look like the layer was cut off and mask feather made it a little weird.I actually saw a solution about displacement maps but I really don't understand it at all. Please Help 🙂

I am experienced audio playback issues when RAM previewing in the latest version of After Effects (17.5 Build 40) on Windows 10. This issue was not present on the previous build of After Effects. When I hit Numpad 0 to initiate a RAM preview playback, the audio does not start to playback immediately. There is a delay of about one second before the audio kicks in. I have tried several different audio hardware configurations on my PC including two different external USB audio interfaces and the onboard audio directly from my motherboard and the problem remains. Anyone else experiencing this? AMD Threadripper 3960X 64GB RAM Windows 10. AFter Effects 17.5 Build 40. 

Any suggestions regarding state management and long-running functions in AEGPs?If I try to run a function that is long running from the command hook or the idle hook, it cause AE to become unresponsive.Is this a normal limitation?Any ideas regarding alternative approaches to long running AEGP processes?

Hi, Can anyone help me create this...I want to have a travel route which has a circle travelling along the path but I want that circle to be fixed/stationery in the middle of the animation and for the route to moved around it. Kind of like if you put your finger on the start point of a map and then instead of moving your finger you moved the map beneath it with your finger always in the same position. 

Hi if anyone could help out very quickly that would be amazing. Earlier today I had a sequence that I converted to an AE project, i was using the paint tool to add effects to the sequence in AE, i had to close AE for a little and when I opened it up, everything was fine in AE but it was unlinked from the sequnce in premiere pro, and any attempt to link it says some thing about an "generic import error" and if i try to do a dynamic link from AE back to PP, it gives me a blank sequence so I'm lost, any advice?I have the lastest versions of bothModerator note: I changed the title to reflect your issue. Not going to lie, After effects is not my strong suit as an editor but I'm in the middle of creating somthing and I need to know how I can link the shape path of a mask to a shape layer (rectangle). Just to be clear I need this to be linked so when the shape changes so does the mask. Thanks in advance 🙂Danny

after effects 2024 is stuck at "initializing required components" part.

Hello. I have hundreds of layers with a very specific opacity flicker on them. I have linked them to a 10 master nulls that have opacity key frames on them. To get variation and avoid repitition. The reason for linking to the nulls is to avoid lots of re-editing in the future. With hundres of layer you can't keep editing every set of keyframes.  The problem is I need another way to fade out each layer in a side ways wipe/wave. (and keep it flickering) As if I had another opacity which isn't overiden by the the exhisting opacity.  I have found that just adding a mask can achive the same result, but I can only add a mask one at a time on each layer. Which is very slow and labour intensive. Is there away of having two opacity controls on a layer? I have tried using expressions, even though they are good they seem to lack control an fidelity with easing. Thank you 🙂 Julian

Hi everyone! I was using the fx console as long as I started working in AE. With the new update it stopped working. I'm working on an m1 mac but I don't think that's the issue. It was working on the previous version of AE and the fx console was working normally. Is there some solution that I'm missing? Please help if you know how to solve this issue.

Hey guys,I'm running in to an annoying issue trying to apply "stabilize motion" from the tracker window to my clip.It starts normal and I can set the tracking point. But when i press the analyze forward button AE only sets one keyframe and that's it. First thing I tried was shutting down AE and restarting the computer and boom, it worked. Five minutes later I'm running into the same issue with another clip.Now, in summary, restarting the computer helps like one out of three times but the issue keeps coming back. Since I have to stabilize quite a lot of clips this is not an option.Any ideas?

 Clip won't render when previewing. This has been a issue for quite a long time now and i search and search and i just can't find a soulution.

HELP ! I have this bug I can't get out of, it's when I import projects into a working project. Its quite slow to import but the worst part is when it's there, everything in AE is not showing up in any comps...nothing is loading, playing and it often take 15 to 20 min until finally everything is working again..I did import quite a lot of project because I'm always using assets from templates here and there.. but still, it should not be doing this...sometime it's just a shape animation that I import and it's also super slow in the program afterward.. here's a video.It's a nightmare! I can't get my work done with this.I have a pretty fast computer Mac Pro, 16 cores, 96 Go RAM, AMD Radeon Pro Vega II Duo 32 GoAnd I'm on AE 2021 and always empty the cache

I'm running After Effects CC 2014.2.0 on Windows 10.By default, some of the following items in the timeline panel are not displayed by default.  For example, see the "mode" and "key" columns I've pointed out in red in this image:I also don't have the columns in the same order as typical (I moved over the column containing the "solo layer" button, for example, to the right of the layer name instead of the left, which is the default).On another machine, I copied the entire %AppData%\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\13.2 folder over to a brand new install of this particular version of After Effects.  Believe it or not, all those changes that I had made to the timeline panel columns appeared!So this tells me that, somewhere in this folder, in one of these files, this information is stored.  However, does anybody know exactly WHICH file?  I see this entire list, but I want to know which one in particular contains this information:If you know the answer, please share, and also

Hello! I am trying to animate a logo and having issues with copying the path of the shape layer and pasting the path into a new shape layer position. When I copy the path and paste, it is just pasting the path again in a different position but not making it a new path for the shape to follow. Attaching screenshots to show my workspace. I'm very much a beginner when it comes to After Effects. I've only ever used templates downloaded from Motion Array but can usually work my way through it enough to get the graphics to look the way I want. Today...not so much. I am trying to animate a map of the US to show all the locations of the company I work for. There are 15 locations in total but the template I downloaded (https://motionarray.com/after-effects-templates/maps-9038/) only has 10 location points in the Controller for me to edit. This feels like something so simple for me to do, yet I can't figure out how to duplicate the comp and add the additional 5 location markers. I have tried going into the Controller panel in the timeline, selected a location point that works, clicked Edit->Duplicate and renamed it to Point 11 but it doesn't generate any capabilities for me to edit it like the others. I have been staring at this for hours and can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advice is
