After Effects

AE gave a warning (I wasn't there - helping an employee - so I don't know exact verbiage, and he didn't pay close attention to it) that was something about a "Full Disk" and then crashed. Subsquently, AE will crash and will not open ANY ae projects within that client project file. Not just the one file that caused the crash. File will begin to open, get to 1% and then crash. I have tried importing the file into a new project file and it will still crash. Any suggestions? Please help! Project is due to client today and of course this is when it decided to completely act up. On a side note, when tested, other ae project files outside of that client folder will open in AE but it takes a while. Computer was restarted, cache's emptied and there is over 75GB full space on the HD. It shouldn't be due to a hardward problem. In both Photoshop and Illustrator apps, trackpad gestures function as follows: Pinch in/out with two fingers → Zoom in/outTwo-finger swipe → Pan tool According to this Adobe's tutorial video (https://youtu.be/Twp181u24Bc?t=102), the same gestures should work in After Effects as well. However, for some reason, when swiping with two fingers, the canvas zooms in/out instead of panning. So, both gestures result in zooming." I wonder if this is a bug or there is an option I need to enable to have those gestures work properly? I'm using v24.0.2.

Hey y'all, I'm trying to create tangents between two circles/ellipses in After Effects and can't find anything anywhere on the internet anywhere. I've scoured tutorial vids, AE scripts and expressions but no luck, perhaps I'm using the wrong search terms. If there is an already built extension/plugin for this then I'll gladly pay for it, or if anyone has the javascript math function already (where I can copy to a shape layer that I can then pick whip to two circles on their own shape layers), that would be ideal. Is it possible to change the gestures in after effects?I use a Mac 2019 and when I use two fingers to swipe i end up zooming in and out of the view - same as with pinching. so there are two relevant gestures wasted on the one same goal. if i want to move around the view i first have to press h and then drag around. Is there a way to change that?Thanks a lot!

Hello,I'm currently working on a project in After Effects and need some guidance. I'm using CC Particle World to create lines that represent ocean currents moving from left to right across the screen. While I've managed to get the lines moving horizontally, they're spreading out as they travel, which I don't want. I'm looking to either completely stop the lines from spreading or at least reduce it significantly. The aim is to have the lines maintain a consistent trajectory and density as they simulate the flow of ocean currents.Has anyone encountered and solved this issue? Any advice on how to adjust the settings in CC Particle World to keep the lines from dispersing too much would be really helpful. Thank you!

Is there a way to clear the list of projects in the the File / Open Recent menu? In the example below the menu lists projects that I have long since deleted, but also older versions of projects kept as a safety - ones that I certainly wouldn't want to accidentily re-open and start working on. I'd really like to reduce the clutter. 

Hi folks, I'm doing a day to night shot of a SUV passing through a field. I played with the colors, added spotlights for light ground reflection and created the headlights with lens flares. To animate all the lights, I created a Null and tied all the layers to it (I don't know if it would be better to move the Null only or to animate the position of the all the layers separately). However, the ground lights and the headlights' layer bounderies make the lights look just slightly cut off at the bottom edge of the layer. I've dealt with such a prolbem before, but I've rectified it with a subtracted, feathered mask, though this doesn't work now. Things that I tried, which didn't do anything: 1 - applied the Grow Bounds effect straight on the solid layers ; 2 - Precomped one of the headlight solid layers, and tried it with different modes. I also tried to create and feather a mask on the precomp and add the Grow Bounds effect on it, but still no luck. The only situation where

Sea & Boat is separate still images. A Wave Warp was  placed on sea layer to get wave effect. Is any Effects & Presets to place on boat layer to respond accordingly? video is attached.  

Hi community. Im trying to make a stragiht line, to bend from its middle axis. like the example I have attached.I tried with CC Bend it, but it cant figure out how to bend it from the middle axis.  As shown in this example, I have a diagnal line, and there's a pivot point in the middle, and I would like to be able to bend/animate from that position. so the curve can go in positive and negative direction.    Kind regards.

Is there any solution for auto resize paragraph text box fill in a fixed area or a container.

I am using After Effects v24.0.2on pc, windows 10.I animate small gifs and after I finished, I exported and saved. I found out the next day I had to re-export in a new format for another reason. And when I re-opened the file, its all messed up and jumbled. At first I thought maybe I moved some stuff around and didnt notice after saving and accidently saved it that way. But upon closer expection after trying to fix it i realize the file is completely off? So i created a simple bonk animation of someone's character getting bonked over th head with a bat, the bat layer is now the flash image. The layer labeled hands is now the hair. the layer labled hair is now the tears. And the layer labeled spark is now the hands, but it has the animation that i did for the tears. It is so odd not sure what has happened.  Seems all the layers, and animation effects all switched and jumbled up and some have even dissapeared it seems like. I included original file, the messed up version now, a

I want to extract the inner side of this layer, and create a new layer out of it.    Just like this one below. The layer I want should look like it. Hi, AMD system (Asus X470 MB -processor r7 5800x, GPU 6800xt) Opening After Effects (24.0.0) will result in my computer restarting after a couples of seconds having it open.  Sometimes just launching the software will make my computer restarts randomlly. It seems to be a problem with my Cache, Event viewer reporting Kernel errors. FYI  no issues whatsoever with other softwares or games. Computer is stable and I've been checking with OCCT, Prime95 and everything is stable so far so it has nothing to do with my settings. I deleted cache and temporary files, reset preferences, deactivated multiple frame rendering and I haven't got a single crash/restart since. Could it be it? 

Hello, I have a problem. I won't hide the fact that I don't have the best computer, but recently I've been using After Effects without any major performance problems, or something loaded slower. But suddenly, for no reason, my performance dropped to about 1%, a regular clip doesn't want to load properly, and after adding an effect and clicking the spacebar, the program crashes. Anyone have any ideas

Hi everybody, I have to make a video for a horse race between 8 horses. At the bottom of the video when the race starts there are 8 png with number of each horse with the order they start. I would like to make a script that I could choose what images to use as the number of each horse. Then if for example at the 10th second the order changes I would like to have a panel that I will put the second of the change and the new order . For example at sec 0 the order is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 but at second 10 the order is 8,7,5,6,4,3,1. So if possible I would like everytime the order changes I would have the ability to enter the second of the change and the order of the images. At the final video I will have the horses running and the images of the numbers that show at the lower part will always show the order of the horses at the current time . Is this possible to be done? Hello. im trying to lock a layers property from moving on Y axis. I want it to move only on X and not on Y. Not even by accident and not even if it is lincked to another layer. I cant find any informatin anyware. Can someone help?Thank you.

Hello, I changed Format to Quicktime, Channels to RGB + Alpha and I still have a black background. Does anyone know a workaround? 

The subtle and random fade-in/out transitions in the 1883 title sequence are incredibly appealing, especially at the beginning. So I am doing my first animation and all of a sudden after using the marionette there are weird dotted lines on my one layer, that goes away after some seconds, but im not seeing where its coming from. Does anyone have an idea?

Hello, I have found something what seems to be a bug to me.... When I import multiple sequences at once by "Multiple Sequences" option in dialog window, I am not able to Reload them later on by "Reload Footage" option in the project manager in AE... This will ignore all new images in the imported sequence, I need to replace the sequence and then it will work as expected. Any ideas what happens here?

Hi there,I can't believe this is still an issue - or is it with the latest version? Is there any workaround or workflow?When users have different language versions of AFX, it's not possible to exchange projects with expressions because e.g. the "German" version of AFX is looking for "Schieberegler" but when you open that project in the original/English version, the expression is looking automatically for "Slider"?Thanks for any help (as I wrote, I obviously am missing something because this can't be an issue still?)

Hi ! I just began adding some 3D in my motion designs, but i have a huge problem with cinema 4D files location.My C: disk is full, and I can't install the app here.For other applications, I can choose an installation place on another disk, but for cinema 4D it's different because it's an add-on of After Effect. Does anyone have a solution to move the entire app anywhere else than my C: disk ? When i tried lonely the application was always broken and i couldn't even start it.Thanks !Sorry for my English that isn't perfect btw.
