Hi beta users! Version 25.1.0 (Build 5 or later) of After Effects Beta introduces support for the Accepts Lights switch in Advanced 3D. Accepts Lights is on by default. When you turn off Accepts Lights on a 3D layer, that object will bypass all the lights and shadows in your scene and appear to be lit by basic ambient illumination instead, with only base color and emissive textures displayed. This allows for new 3D compositing and effect workflows and provides a quick path to simulating self-illuminated 3D elements like phone screens: [Accepts Lights On] [Accepts Lights Off] Accepts Lights is also supported in the Classic 3D and Cinema 4D renderers. Please give this new functionality a try and let us know how it’s working for you.
In the 25.00 beta the number counter effect that shipped with 24.5 doesn't work if you check the show group separators checkbox. Still works in AE 24.5.
Hi,I am using After Effect Beta since last week, all work like a charm. Today less. I had 4 graphic card crashes when I clic on another app (like firefox, discord or thunderbird). I have the proposal to render only in mercury and don't do anything, then 1 minute laterr, I have a BSOD with mention Video scheduler internal error. I'm using one 3rd party plugin (Shadow Studio 3), maybe this is it, but just in case, I report the bug. All the best.
Hello,Basically, im using this Extension called uwu2x and in the ae beta, after opening the Extension from the Windows tab it appears to be just a white screen. Nothing, else. I saw some people adding a PlayerDebugKey to reg editor and i tried that but it still doesnt work. Appreciate any help!

Might be a stupid question, but up until yesterday AE Beta 25 was working fine, now I can't open it. I'm told I'm missing some dll files (MSVCP140.dll, ucrtbased.dll, VCRUNTIME140D.dll and VCRUNTIME140_1D.dll). If I downgrade AE, it opens just fine. Every other Adobe program works as well, even Premiere Beta 25. After Effects Beta 25 is the only one I'm having trouble with. I've tried uninstalling every Visual C++ package and installing again, still getting the error messages.
Adding the 'Blend w. Original' property of CC Toner to Essential properties, then viewing that precomp with the Properties panel remaps the 0-100% range of the original value to 0-1%. Steps to Repro:Add CC Toner to a Layer in Comp A, then add 'Blend w. Original' to Essential PropertiesNest Comp A in Comp B, then use the Properties panel to adjust the 'Blend w. Original' propertyThe value range in the properties panel is now mapped 0-1%, with values between 0-100 being remapped to fit in that range. Expected behaviour:Properties panel would display the same 0-100% value range as the Effect / Essential Graphics panels for that property. Found in Win 11, Beta 25.0.0 Build 33, also confirmed in Release. Cheers!

Hi everyone, Starting with AE 25.0.26 beta, we have introduced a number of new Font fallback management APIs, to help with defining new default fonts, and to ensure that a font has all the glyphs you will need to render any given text. As always, we have updated the Scripting Documentation, where you will find more detailed information about these new APIs. Here is a quick overview of the new APIs: Fonts.setDefaultFontForCTScript() This function will set an instance of Font object mapped based on CTScript parameter. After Effects uses these mappings when typing or applying a font where it finds that the font does not contain a glyph for the character. In this situation it will attempt to map the character to a CTScript value and then use this default mapping to select an alternate font which may have a glyph for the character. Today we’re announcing a small but perhaps impactful change in AE Beta x28 and we’d really like your feedback on it. We are changing the font weight for many of the After Effects UI elements from bold to normal weight. This will make the text in After Effects betas moving forward more closely match the look of the text in previous stable releases of After Effects. We’ve done internal testing and found this increases both legibility and readability when compared to the bolder font weight; particularly when using higher display resolutions or lower display scaling. We expect you’ll notice this change most in the Timeline panel, but it’s also changing the Project, Effect Controls Panel, and some others. Please let us know if you find increased clarity in the text or if you notice any decrease in readability. If you do have any decrease, please tell us your operating system, your screen resolution, and any display scaling.
Version 25.0 x 28 of After Effects Beta introduces support for 3D Model Thumbnails and Previews. It’s a basic feature. When you import a 3D Model (.GLB, .OBJ) footage item into the Project Panel and select that model, a thumbnail will appear (as shown below). Similarly, when you <double-click> a 3D Model footage item, we will render that model in the Footage Panel. Please note that the process of generating a Thumbnail or Preview is asynchronous and, as some 3D models can be quite large, it could take a little while to render. I've been trying to figure this out since the v25 of the beta for AE came out. It'll open just fine but then the minute I create a composition and/or try to add a layer, beach ball appears. I'll try to open it in Safe Mode to see if any particular script is causing the issue but I also wanted to know where I could find crash logs for the AE beta to submit and hopefully someone could take a look.
Hi beta users! Beginning in version 25.0x19 of After Effects Beta, we’re changing the way 3D models are imported into the Project panel. Some 3D model formats (.gltf and .obj) rely on additional external files to render, e.g. .mtl or .bin. Previously, After Effects imported those linked files alongside the main model file and everything was stored together in a folder. Now, After Effects Beta will manage those external dependencies automatically behind the scenes, so you will no longer see them in the Project panel. You will just see the .gltf or .obj model on its own. Dependent files will still be collected as needed if you Collect Files. Please give this new functionality a try and let us know how it’s working for you.
I'm working on a custom extension building a cep panel. When updating to the newest version, 25, I can't open panels anymore that I've placed in the Common Files/cep folder. This includes the default project downloaded from the adobe cep resources github. Other extensions like motion4 and copy pasta open just fine.
I've tried to set a Keyboard Shortcut for both Reveal in Explorer and Reveal in Project, but neither of them work.

Hi beta users! Starting August 5, After Effects betas will switch from v24.6 to the next major version, v25. We make this switch once a year when we get close to shipping the last dot release of one major version and switch to the beta of the next major version. If you open an existing project in v25, After Effects will guide you through the project upgrade process and automatically version the project file. Unless you specifically save over the original file, you will have a backup. Like previous major version changes, After Effects projects saved in v25 cannot be opened in previous versions of After Effects, including the shipping version (v24.5 at the time of this post). You can open your projects in an older version by going to File > Save As > Save a Copy as 24.x. It is also required to have v25 of Premiere Pro and Media Encoder to make use of Dynamic Link. As per title. De-installing Ae 2025 I was able to open Ps again.
First I couldn't use the expression "effect("Turbulent Noise")(21) + time * 2000" on Turbulent Noise because the evolution stopped after 15-16 seconds although there were no additional keyframes or other expressions on that layer and the evolution indicator showed that it was evolving. I could only resolve that issue by manually setting keyframes with an evolution setting of up to 100. When I entered 200 or 300 the freeze was back. Then, the layer in question suddenly increased in opacity randomly, again without any changes, keyframes, other layers etc. What could be the issue?
Starting with AE Beta 24.5x40, Camera and Light Options available in the Timeline are accessible in the Properties Panel. Simply select the appropriate Camera or Light layer and the available properties will be shown in the Properties Panel. Camera Options The Camera Options will adjust based on the composition Renderer (Classic 3D, Advanced 3D, Cinema 4D). Quickly access additional settings such as Focal Length, Film Size, Angle of View, etc., by clicking the Camera Settings button. Light Options Change the Light Type or any of the associated properties of a light directly from the Properties Panel. You can also change and adjust multiple lights at the same time. When the composition renderer is set to Advanced 3D, you can also choose the Environment Light Type and then pick from any HDR or EXR environment source layers from the Source drop down menu. We hope this makes it easier to set up and customize your Camera and Light settings for your projects. L
I have a comp with a Spot Light, and I separated the xyz Position dimensions. But the combined xyz position also remained, so I now have "Position, X Position, Y Position and Z Position" which makes no sense:

If I'm creating a mogrt in AE, and "Add Formatting" > Add Group, and put some things in that group, when I export the mogrt and import it into PPro, one or more of those things are no longer in that group, which is rather annoying. I've tried using the release versions of AE (24.5.0x52) and PPro (24.5.0x57) and the beta versions of AE (24.6.0x65) and PPro (24.6.0x75) but the problem is the same...well, I think it's slightly worse in the Beta versions - I seem to have two things "fall out" of the group, and it tends to be only one "fall out" in the release versions. Here's the mogrt in AE:...the "Growing Headline" checkbos is happily in the Headline group. But in PPro:The last one or two things in a group tend to fall out of the group. Deleting the old mogrt from my library, then re-exporting the mogrt from AE, then replacing it in the timeline (and saying "yes" to replacing all occurrences of that mogrt in the project) does not change anything.
