Get help using Adobe Animate and creating animations.

The past month I've been working on an animation and it took a lot of effort and hard work, but suddenly today I tried to open the file and it says "An error occurred opening file "C:\Users\(my name)\Documents\The thing I'm wowking on.fla". When I click "OK", another error pops up "A JavaScript error occurred In file "Publish.jsfl": Error: File 'C:\Users\(my name)\Documents\The thing I'm wowking on.fla' could not be opened"After clicking OK again, Animate then shows me a black screen. The File, Edit, View, and everything else is still there. I tried finding how to fix this issue for the past hour but I eventually gave up.
I have a very simple animation that consists of a button as a move clip, than when clicked, goes to a certain frame. When I test this out by going to Control > Test, a Chrome browser opens but nothing shows up. I then open Inspect and check the Console, and there are errors. The errors I'm seeing are "Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ':'" and "Uncaught ReferenceError: AdobeAn is not defined". This couldnt be a more simple animation with an action so it is very frustrating that Animate cannot work as expected. Why does it add a colon if it breaks the animation from playing? Why does it try to refer to AdobeAn when it also doesn't even work? Does Adobe not test their products? I cannot find any fixes when I research these errors.
Hello! I am trying to use the brushes in the brush library, but when I double click to add to the document, it doesn't do anything. I've looked up tutorials but they're all older and from when Animate had a different UI. Could someone help me with this? Thanks!

Is it possible to undo an entire JSFL tool's script with just one press of CTRL + Z? For example, the following JSFL tool script allows a user to click on a shape and smooth it by running Animate's smoothSelection() method several times. Each time the smoothSelection() method runs, an extra undo step is added to the history panel. So is there any way to reduce it to one step while keeping the same logic? Thank you greatly for any assistance. var doc = fl.getDocumentDOM(); function configureTool(){ var toolObj = fl.tools.activeTool; toolObj.setIcon("ExampleTool.png"); toolObj.setMenuString("Example Tool"); toolObj.setToolName("Example Tool"); } function mouseDown(){ point = fl.tools.penDownLoc; doc.mouseClick({x: point.x, y: point.y}, false, false); smoothClickedShape(); } function smoothClickedShape(){ for (var i = 1; i <= 10; i++) { doc.smoothSelection(); } }
Whenever I open Animate, the hands-on tutorials show up, but when I click on them, the actual tutorial doesn't show up.
So technically, I have 2 problems here. The first problem is that when I export the final animation, it jumps from 1% to 20%, and then exports the rest. The final product shows that 20% of the video is missing. I've tried again and again, but nothing works. I've restarted the application, uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and even restarted my computer. Nothing works. The second problem happened when I looked into the publish settings at the left of the computer. (I'm using a Mac) I tried to export it as a swf, which worked, but I want to export the whole thing as a mp4. But when I clicked on Export on the top right, and then clicked on Publish, it shows 2 options, one where it SHOULD say "Video (MP4)" and "Animated GIF". But for me, it instead says "Video (3gp)" I got very confused and went to the publish settings to try and fix it, but there is no setting for exporting as an mp4. Does anyone have a solution to both of these problems? Please let me know as soon as poss
I'm very new to this program, and am wondering if there is a way to re-size an animated asset? For context, I animated a rig on a 1920x1080 stage, and want to import it into an 800x1080 stage. When I do that, it's very large, and despite the fact I select and transform all keyframes, it only applies to one. Is there any way to rescale the entirety of said asset?
I'm working on a project for a class and we need to animate shapes. However, we're not allowed to use anything other than the brush tool to draw (no shape tool, no pen tool). We're not allowed to have object mode on either. It's been a significant struggle for me to draw neat straight lines. I know that holding shift while drawing creates straight vertical or horizontal lines. Is there any way to do this with diagonal lines?
I’ve been experimenting with how motion and micro-animations can make simple data interfaces more engaging. Adobe Animate has been my go-to tool for prototyping small, human-centric animations — such as buttons, transitions, and data loading states.Recently, I used these techniques in a small personal project where users explore how unique their name is through data visualization. The challenge was to balance animation with clarity, ensuring the focus remained on the content.Would love feedback or suggestions from other Animate users who design for data-focused interfaces. i really need help, i downloaded a differenet fla to test it out and it worked on there but not on mine. why is this??
Hello, I've been using adobe animate as my main art program and it's been starting to crash alot from exporting images, I have the crash report below, I tried looking around and one source said that it might be something with my GPU and that I have to disable it when booting animate up. I have found a work around through the publish and legacy export image functions but the normal export image seems to not want to cooperate.Here's the report<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE AdobeCrashReport SYSTEM "AdobeCrashReporter.dtd"><crashreport serviceVersion="14.0.0.202310260823_2e78abe" clientVersion="14.0.0.202310260823_2e78abe" applicationName="Adobe Animate" applicationVersion="24.0.12" build="24.0.12.3" source="Windows-Client" crashType="n/a"><time year="2025" month="10" day="4" hour="9" minute="50" second="1" timeoffset="-300" timezone="Eastern Daylight Time"/><user guid="afaad467-be2c-4c62-b86d-1696708c36e3"/><system platform="Windows 8 Pro" osversion="6.2"
i think it would be a good feature for adobe animate to be more good because crashing and lagging every single thing i do isnt worth 22 dollars per month
when I export my video, it seems that some of the scenes display larger than the others. (the don't fit on my computer screen)is there a way to fix this?
Any suggestions to sharpen the visual quality of my video exports? I set JPEG quality to 100%. Would Premier Pro clean it up? Thanks
Hello Adobe Community,I'm facing a persistent issue with Adobe Animate: the software crashes every time I try to open any file, regardless of file type or size. This happens consistently and is preventing any productive work.Troubleshooting I’ve Already TriedResetting Animate Preferences: I located and either deleted or renamed the Animate preferences folders on my system, following Adobe’s official advice.Uninstalling & Reinstalling Animate: I’ve uninstalled both Animate and the Creative Cloud Desktop App (including preferences), restarted my computer, and reinstalled everything from scratch.Updating Drivers & Software: All system drivers (especially graphics) are fully updated, and I'm using the latest version of Animate from Creative Cloud.Disabling Firewalls/Antivirus: I tested with my firewall and antivirus temporarily disabled to rule out conflicts.Validating Fonts: I ran font validation to rule out corrupt fonts which can sometimes cause issues.C
What step am I missing to make this function work? The snippets I am using are "click to go to frame and stop". When published, these buttons are not taking me to a new frame. I have the latest version of Animate CC and am using OS 10.11.6. Please help.
Adobe Flash CS5.5 and CS 6 worked perfectly on my pc but a few days ago, they suddenly stopped working. They are not responding at startup
Hello, I'm new to Adobe Animate and have spent the past two nights setting up my workspace and keybinds so they work similarly to my set-up in prior software. Recently I've begun messing with the brush tools and specifically with the Classic Brush Tool; typically I really enjoy using a skinny slanted brush so I can apply both slim and broad strokes upon adjusting my pen tilt, but what I'm finding is the tilt sensativity often turns on a dime and I need it to be bumped down. After checking Animate's documentation it does claim there is a feature for this here, but upon looking in the properties pannel in my own instance of Animate there is no such option.
