Audition

When my partner and I record a podcast through Audition, I rarely have the application front and center. I'm either moving to Spotify, Chrome, or iTunes to access research materials or play media. If I flub and need to mark the spot quickly, pressing M in Audition is great for immediate referencing. The problem I have is that, if I add a global keyboard shortcut through System Preferences, it doesn't want to work. I just get the "donk" (uh oh) sound whenever I run it outside of the app. I've tried both applying it to All Applications as well as Adobe Audition CC 2019. Neither will accept the key combo outside of the app. If I'm in Audition, both the default "M" or my custom keystroke (⌃⌥⌘M) will call a marker. It's being applied to "Add Cue Marker" which is under Edit > Marker. What am I doing wrong?

So, in order to describe this as best as I can, I may be using a few metaphors. So please bear with me. In Audition CC, I have recorded my audio through Audition, and I am currently working on the multitrack section. Whenever I start playing the audio, there will be distortion that the sound will bounce back and forth between both the left and right speaker in strength, and when replaying the same portion of the audio, the distortion may disappear. Let us call this effect something akin to debris in a glass of water. When you shake it, sometimes it will be on this side of the glass, sometimes it will be on that side, but there will be enough distortion that it will not settle on a position, but instead pop up from time to time. Fun, right? But I thought to myself that if it is inconsistent, it may just be my speakers acting up for whatever reason. Hi, So I downloaded the creative cloud package so I could work on my uni projects from home but I am opening up Adobe Audition and it won't let me do anything because the verify your email message comes up but my email is already verified and it won't let me go any further than that as the message won't disappear , I have a project on audition due in in two days and this is a serious problem for me now so any help would be much appreciated , thank you. 

I used Audition CC 2017 to burn a CD for my Truck. The album in question was "Speaking in Tongues" by "Talking Heads". I put all the tags in the CD-Text, except for Message. After putting the CD in the Truck and all the tags show except for Artist, showing a ▯. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or does either Audition or the Truck not support the tag?Here are some images...

I spend a lot of time with two Audition files open at the same time. Two questions: (a) Can I open each in a separate window, and then cut and paste/drag parts from one to another?(b) Currently I have to click on the little 3-bar icon in the Editor header to show me which other file(s) I have open. I then select the file I want and it opens. To go back to the original I have to reverse the process. Is there some quick key combination (i.e., like CMD TAB) that allows me to quickly switch between two open files??Thanks.

Hi, I'm having problems with a very basic function of Adobe Audition.  I'm trying to record from a midi keyboard.  My sound source is a software sampler - Miroslav Philharmonik 2.  The audio interface is a Presonus Audiobox USB 96 with a driver listed as ASIO. I'm playing on midi channel 1 from the keyboard into the computer to the sampler and it's coming out of the speakers through the Presonus box.   I've attached a screenshot of the input device page from Audition.  I see I can only add one screenshot but I have a similar one for the sampler program. I promise you I have been trying to solve this on my own. The tutorials all go for very cool things you can do with your recording but don't seem to talk about how to get  instruments to talk to the software.  If you can let me know where to go to study this information I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

I currently have the most recent version of Audition on my Mac and have been having a hard time getting my interface to talk to Audition. I have updated the drivers for my interface and I tried it out with another DAW, so I know my interface works. The issue seems to be with Adobe. Anyone else have this issue? I'm using a Scarlett 18i8. thanks

Hi all, I'm just now learning Audition coming from a Logic Pro background. So far everything seems straightforward, though like driving a new car, you kind of have to poke around for features and relearn shortcuts. Submasters (using a bus), and even sub-mastering several subs, was pretty simple.   But when I tried parallels sends, it seems that I can only do one send per channel. In Logic (and indeed any PA mixer), it is common to have 4 to 6 sends, so you can dial each channel into, e.g., a hall, plate reverb, and/or delay. It appears I can only do one parallel send in Audition. This seems like a pretty serious omition. What am I missing? 

A little background:I have A Shure SM7B microphone, a dbx286s preamp, and a Scarlet Focusrite Solo.I talk vocally through discord and everyone I speak with can hear me clearly. Recently I decided to try my hand at voice overs and to apply a filter layer over previous audio recordings. However whenever I try to record directly through auditions it does not detect my audio at all. I have read posts about making sure I have an "R" turned on, the audio hardware, and several others involving proper window settings and yet I still can't seem to have it pick up any audio.  I thought at first that maybe I needed to up the db threshhold on my preamp so I turned everything up a few times for several attempts until everything was max and there was still no detection.

Hello! I am new to using Audition.. I use it to edit art tutorials that I record - just simple noise reduction and amplify is all I really know how to do. I did a recording today and I don't know what happened to the mic but in this one (very large) section I've picked up a whole bunch of static so something must have gone wrong. I've tried noise reducing it but I can't get rid of the buzz in the background.  Is anyone able to help or suggest what I can do 😞 I can't re-record it as it's an art piece and I've moved on from this point in the tutorial but I have to do it for work due in 2 days so I'm stressing haha. Thank you to anyone who can maybe help 🙂 Alyce  Link to faulty audio wav 

Recently installed a trial of the Sugar plugin and it required iLok to run. Didn't have a use for the plugin so removed it and uninstalled iLok, and now my Audition has slowed to a crawl when opening/exporting. Anyone else have this experience? I've actually uninstalled audition and ALL VST plugins and reinstalled and the issue persists. 

In Audition CS6 on my Mac, I accidentally hit a key (I don't know which one) which caused the waveform window to fill my entire screen, blocking out the rest of my Workspace windows. I can't find anything about it in the Audition reference PDF or in Keyboard Shortcuts, making it necessary to quit Audition and relaunch to start over. Does anyone know what key would've caused this and whether it can be disabled? Hello,I can't work if I am just missing something here as I just want to do something simple. I would like to create a pure tone of 1000hz, 60dB, and 10ms rise/fall. But, I can't seem to find out how to make my dB go higher than 0, and I can't find where to change the rise and fall. Please help!Thanks

I've recorded a bunch of audio in a dozen separate sessions. Each one a separate file. Then I edited them all. They are .sesx files. Now I'd like to combine some of this audio. I figured I could just copy the audio clip from one file to another. WRONG! Why not? I can cut'n'paste clips within a file but not from one to another. Well, does anyone know how to do this? I assume that it is as common as any other type of cut'n'paste work. Hmmm, I've seen mention of a 3rd party program called SesxToSesx. I'm shocked that what seems like a common function would need a 3rd party program to make it work. I suppose that what I am missing is an appreciation that each .sesx file contains source files which are then edited. Well, there should be some straightforward way to combine files. I suppose I could Export a hopefully lossless file out of one .sesx file and Import it into the other. I also plan to do Post-processing, noise reduction and such...

I am starting to use noise gates in my podcast interviews. I usually take a quiet section at the beginning of the interview, then do Amplitude Statistics to see where the noise levels are. Then I apply a noise gate using the dbs around the peak amplitude, and then I adjust as needed to make it sound a little better. The attack is set to 1ms, and the hold is set to 1ms. Release is 100ms. I will get random "popping" in the silent areas of the track, and I am assuming it is something like bumping the table, or a mouse click, or something. But it makes a significant pop sound. Are there better ways to apply the settings so you don't get these types of pops? Also the person talking sometimes you can here the noise gate click on and off in between words. How do you make that stop? (It is like the noise gate goes on, then off, then on, then off). Thanks for any help!

I keep getting random errors saying "The File is Already in use by another application and cannot be overwritten." If I drop 6 files into the file bin, and work on each one individually (not in multitrack), I keep getting 1 that has this error. I have no reason why. Any ideas?

Hello!  I use Audition to record my podcast. Since I am new to this I don't do much editing... i use multitrack, insert the music track, and record on the host track with an audiotechnica mic. Then in the essential sound tab I label the music track, click ducking and label the dialog track, click Reduce Noise (5.0). It sounds perfect when I play it back but when I export and mixdown... the first 5 seconds of my host track are so disoriented. it goes up down and just sounds a mess before sounding good. Also I can't do any cuts because if I do then it will disorient the first 5 seconds of the cut audio as well...  Please help. I am including screenshots just in case...  Thank you in advance.  

I'd like to output my files to the following: MP3 64 Kbps CBR41000 Hz But Audition seems to force64 Kbps CBR files to be 24000 Hz. Is there a way to get to the specs I'm aiming for?Thanks!

Have multitrack templates disappeared from Audition? I used to be able to select a podcast template but there aren't any templates at all available any more (I'm using a Mac and Audition v 13.0... but templates were also missing on other recent versions).

Does the Adobe Audition 3.0 not support the 64bit VST-s?

I've just experienced a curious problem with auto creation of .mp3 tracks from a .wav master recording. The recording had been given cue marks to define 11 tracks. Four of the tracks (1005,1006,1010 & 1011) auto created in .mp3 format (using the merge/export tools) were not from that recording but from previous recordings located in other folders of different dates but with files of the same idents as the new ones. It's a weekly production which needs to output 1001 - 1011 and has worked accurately until now.  Any ideas why this week's problem? .. and how to avoid? Meantime I'm going to archive previous recordings so that they can't get used again.Alan from Shrewsbury

Beginner audio magician here, i just got the program a couple days ago, so explain like im five please.I have been trying to recreate a sound effect for a while now in other editors like Premiere Pro ( i know, not an audio focused program, but you can do some stuff in there too). With my limited audio knowledge it sounds like the audio waves are edited in a way that they move dramatically to low tone and high tone to create this " wavy" effect. Can somebody help me out please ? How to recreate it? Or just tell me the name of the effect?Thank you very much in advance!

 I've been looking for a better way to automate ducking and use a technique favoured by sound engineers where they “filter” the music to make the voice over stand out. I’m going to call it Deft Ducking( for digitally enabled frequency tunneling ) Basically, sound engineers, instead of just lowering the music track, add a parametric equaliser is to the music track and adjust to make a “hole” in the frequency spectrum where the human voice has it’s most power.This “hole” frequency will be different for a male and female voice. In older versions of Audition, before there was automatic ducking, one method of doing this was by using a side chain in conjunction with a “dynamic processing” effect.This allowed automation of the ducking and didn’t need key framing.Two things however:The “dynamic processing” effect is the only one that comes with Audition that works in the side chain.It takes some skill to set this up. So, along came auto ducking in Audition.Select your

Hi, I use a macbook pro 2019 and i have a lot issue whit audution. Usuarly ius very slow, if i press play a need wait a lot. I can make any configuration to improve the perfomance. Is something terrible to edit podcast.  Premier works well. All the sofwares is good, but audition is terrible. At my old mac pro 2015 I was ok. But whit this new one o lost a lot time waiting woks.  Help me 🙂  Tanks,
