After Effects versions (since forever) to 24.4.0 ........ long menu pickers don’t scroll with the mouse wheel.  The only option is to click and hold the up/down triangles which are very slow (8 lines/items a second on average).  Doesn’t matter where the menu is - in an effect chooser, or even when parenting in a comp with many layers. Other interface components in After Effects respect the scroll wheel (effects list, project panel, comp layers, etc.) - please fix this so menu list pickers use the mouse scroll wheel. 

Working with AE more for the last year there are a lot of strange things about it. Performance is generally not great, even on a fast machine and it seems to be irractic when it runs well and when it does not. No other apps open, sometimes improves, other times no difference.However, one of the more odd things is the app steals focus and will not let it go. I have to move dialog boxes to my other monitor to continue working.  Cleaning Cache often takes a very long time and both the preferences screen and the progress screen refuse to hide, remaining on top of all applications. Why? No other app does this. How is this not a bug? 

After Effects is constantly giving me the low memory warning, I have a Mac M1 with 64 gigs of RAM.  After Effects has always been a memory hog but this is ridiculous! I am using Particular, maybe this is contributing to the issue.  I clear the cache constantly, but still do not have memory cleared up for previewing. So, seeing the green lines to show, cached frames is not accurate, sometimes these do not show and do not update.  I also get warnings at launch that my cashe does not have enough space, but there is enough space, I have 90 gigs of cash allocated and I have 150 gigs available on my hard drive. Why does this keep happening? 

The Wave Warp plugin breaks down when larger sine waves are used - it almost appears to use a raster map to distort an image instead of procedural math.   Been like this for several decades, finally getting around to asking for it to be fixed.  Doesn’t matter what bit depth the project is in - this happens with 8, 16 bit etc.. at Best layer quality (though it looks like Draft, doesn’t it?)  And antialiasing in the effect is already at High.   View below is actually zoomed out, not in despite how pixellated / chunky it looks.

Pretty sure it happens on every Windows device. I personally had this bug happen on at least 5 different Windows devices and 2 were my own PCs with different hardware. Happens on Windows 10 and 11. This never happens in Premire, Photoshop, Illustrator, all other Adobe apps work fine. Only After Effects goes to windowed mode and only when the project is opened from outside AE.

When setting up Adobe Color Managed, AE remembers your project settings after closing AE and re-opening a new project.   When you set AE to OCIO managed and pick ACES 1.3 Studio config, close AE and reopen, a new project defaults to the first option in the list ACES 1.2 with no working and output space selected.     Running latest beta build as of this post but this behavior existed ever since OCIO's implementation I believe.

Hello gang, I'm surprised that no one has caught this or mentioned it, or maybe it's not been that important to note. But I make a lot of templates and utilize a lot of music/sound effects in my templates. These layers are all controlled vie expresions and conditional statements so I don't have to click around so much and turn on/off layers.I noticed that when I write expressions on audio layers and hit the keyboard shortcut (U,U) to reveal the expressions, it does not work on the audio property like it would on any other object property.Is this a bug or intentional?

Is absolutely annoying that every 2 days you have to be updating your apps, just send a pak weekly for the updates.Ae is glitching with effects after the latest updatePs for some reason after the update is having conflict with the prompts for the generative fill and do whatever it wants.  

How to fix "unknown exception" in After Effects?Every time I open this message appears non-stop several times regardless of the project.

If i try to open up an .mxf file it will shut down After Effects. I can't open other projects that contains .mxf files. 

Hi, I had AE 24.3 then installed update to 24.4.1 and ALL workspace setting has been reseted to default. All custom shortcuts gone. Why working with AE is such a friching pain when it comes to updates!

Hi zusammen, ich habe aktuell folgendes Problem:Seit 3-4 Wochen ist AE extrem langsam bei einfachsten Textanimationen. Insbesondere bei 3d-Texteffekten (Animation Composer aber auch bei den "herkömmlichen" Texteeffekten).Es wirkt so, als sei der Rechner "verstopft" und kommt mit den kleinsten Animationen nicht klar. Gilt auch für komplett leere Projekte wo ich nur zum Test eine Textanaimation ausprobiere. Effekte ohne 3d, etc. laufen hingegen flüssig.Task-Manager zeigt immer nen Peak in der CPU-3D an... Hat er vorher aber auch nie gemacht....  Rechner ist knapp 1 Jahr alt und an der Hardware kann es nicht liegen, da es bis vor dca. drei Wochen noch sehr flüssig lief und ich auch keine EInstellungen verändert habe. - Speicher auf Festplatten sind gerade mal zu 10 - 15% belegt. - Disk Cache und Footage auf unterschiedlichen Platten hinterlegt (so wie es Adobe empfiehlt) - Grafikkarte ist ne GeForce RTX 3080 (Treiber aktuell - Studio)  Ich hoffe irg

After Effects 24.5.0 keeps crashing everytime I initialize After Effects Camera Tracker.I tried several videos with different codecs and also tried to disable all third party plugins and effects.What may be going on here?

Hello,i have a problem with AE 2024 with the Rotoscopy tool, it keeps constantly crushing and im not able to finish my work, could this pls be fixed? has anyone had the same problem?thx in advance.Rafael S.

i have two main problems, which i literally have no idea how to fix. each time i open ae, i have to press alt+shift+ctrl while opening it, otherwise the program will crash. my second problem is when i open any project file, the project file just crashes. it doesnt even load or anything, just gives me the unexpected error popup and closes me out of the program. ive searched this problem up and tried many things and it still can't get fixed.

Last week I took this GLTF file from Envato elements https://elements.envato.com/3d-golf-illustration-AK77GX7 and dragged it raw into my After Effects project with no issue!!! fast forward to this week, I tried to import this GLTF into After effects https://elements.envato.com/sport-3d-illustration-RR3ZXUY and it told me "After effects error: could not load". Why not? Whats the difference between this GLTF and the other? Does it accept some GLTF files but not others? UPDATE: private message from adobe stated "One thing I'm noticing is that there are no related files for the .objs or the .gltfs. Objs need an .mtl file and a folder of textures (pngs or jpegs) to map to and gltf files typicapply have a .bin file and a folder full of textures to map to."

Na versão do AE24, o source text quando utilizado com expressões não tem uma boa performance, fica travando o preview e o programa. Baixei a versão mais antiga (AE23) para testar e o mesmo projeto funcionou perfeitamente sem travamentos.A Adobe deveria atualizar o After Effects 2024 para solucionar esse problema.---In the AE24 version, the source text when used with expressions does not perform well, causing the preview and program to crash. I downloaded the older version (AE23) to test and the same project worked perfectly without any crashes.Adobe should update After Effects 2024 to resolve this issue.

I've got a tricky one. More than one of my text layers are not visually in the correct position, although their position property is set to the correct position value and the bounding box sits in that correct position value as well. It is the result of an expression that I use often, which I've added here:t = thisComp.layer(4); p = t.transform.yPosition; r = t.sourceRectAtTime().height/2; s = t.transform.scale[0]/100; m = 40; t2 = thisComp.layer(2); p2 = t2.transform.yPosition; r2 = t2.sourceRectAtTime().height/2; s2 = t2.transform.scale[0]/100; m2 = 10; clamp(p - (s*r) - m,p2 + (s2*r2) + m2,thisComp.height/2) De-activating this expression solves the problem, along with soloing the layer itself. I've reset the text properties, tried variations of every possible character and paragraph property to no avail. There was an error reading the mxf file in the recent updates to After Effect 23.2 and Media Encoder 23.2.Link is broken for mxf files pre-imported to the project.An error message occurs when importing a new mxf file, saying it is not supported.The file has a preset of MXFOP1a XDCAM HD 50 NTSC 60i, and the codec is XDCAMHD 50NTSC (4:2:2) file.This codec is the standard setting used by my company.The same file will be read normally in Premier Pro's latest update, 23.1.It also works fine with AfterEffect 23.1, the previous version update of AfterEffect.Currently, all Users in my company are experiencing the same issue. I asked the local customer center in Korea about the issue, but I couldn't get a proper answer.

AE creates illegal folders in windows when naming a comp with a . (dot) at the end of the comp name and exporting to an image sequence.THESE FOLDERS CAN NOT BE DELETED!!!!!!BE AWARE BEFORE INITIATING THESE STEPSthe folders are corrupt and can not be deleted!!!1. create comp with name comp. ( dot at the end of name )2. export to a drive as png sequence in a folder3. look for the path in the export que ( is some cases it will not create a path )when it does pres render4. there will be an error but the filder with the dot at the end is created.5. this folder can NOT be deleted and I have not found another opion but formatting the drive( which in my case is no option )

Hi.. My device specifications are Windows 11, 128 GB RAM, Nvidia 4090 graphics card, Intel i9 14900k processor, and I have had this problem for four days. I have reverted to multiple and different versions, but the same problem every time. afterfx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I used cracked programs, but the same process and the same message appear. Note that I have not added any script or plugin for about a year. Can you help me with this problem?  

So, this bug had been ever since (5 years ago) the new curves in Lumeri Color effect (this applies for both After Effects and Premiere Pro) have been introduced.Steps to reproduce:Add any two points on any curve that is 'something vs something' (Like Saturation vs Hue) Try dragging one of them horizontally passing the middle of the widow where they could be dragged. Notice how the point jumps as the cursor passes the middle and no longer sticks to it...I've recorded the video preview of this event

After Effects' main window is not a real macOS window, which impacts accessibility apps. I use the app AltTab, which simply lets you switch between open windows using a shortcut. The app is not able to properly detect the AE window because of this issue. Quote from my bug report to AltTab:Then it means AE windows are not real windows. It's a bug on their side. You should open a ticket for them so they fix it. If it affects AltTab, it must affect other accessibility apps.[...]To insist again: this is a bug on AE side. It should be reported. Screen readers and other apps are probably broken with AE.

I'm working with a multi-layered EXR file from Maya 2025 and V-Ray 6, I get this following error when importing the file.  The file does then open in AE and all of the passes unhighlighted below open fine, but then nothing is visible in my light mix passes that hold each individual light pass.  I had created a render a couple of days ago from the same scene (although using a different PC) that worked fine in AE. The only difference I can see is with the naming of the layers that come with the file, on the file that worked those light passes have much simpler names compared the lengthy ones above that show Maya's groups, transforms, and shape nodes. Any idea what might be going wrong here?  

I'm unable to use 'aerender' for a terminal render for After Effects versions 24.1 thru 24.4.1. But it does still work when reverting back to AE version 24.0.3 or prior. Operating System-- Mac OS Sonoma 14.5CPU--Apple M1 Max (Macbook Pro)This is especially puzzling because my Apple M1 Ultra (Mac Studio) doesn't seem to have this problem at all. It seems to be specific to these versions of AE and only on my Macbook. Running this standard line (with a path to the project):/Applications/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ 2024/aerender -project yields an error: "Illegal hardware instruction" Although this gives the expected result so it's not like 'aerender' is broken on the one machine:/Applications/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ 2024/aerender -version I have uninstalled AE and removed all library files and plist files. But the only thing that seems to make a difference is reinstalling AE version 24.0.3. This a viable workaround, but I don't really want to be stuck in that versi
