Captivate

When creating a software simulation within an application, some screens display duplication on the mouse click. This could be the button/s being clicked or an area near the clicked button.This seems to have started since upgrading to version 11.8.2.254. Anyone have any advice please?

Hi, I have read a few posts trying to find a solution to this and most of them refer to an item being paused.  But I have gone through them line by line and there is no pause.  When it is played in preview it works fine. When previewed in HTML or published it does work. You have to press play after the recoding finishes for group 42 to play, then again for group 43 to play and then again for the next button to show.  Any thoughts?

I have had multiple projects in Adobe Captivate 2019 that fail to publish to my computer "all of the way," instead getting stuck at "Optimizing Content." Then, I cancel the publish and it appears all of the assets are there except for the index.html or scormindex. (I've tried to publish as both Html5 and SCORM separately).I've removed all transitions and checked my HTML tracker. I also ran the "CleanPreferencesWin.bat" and tried to run the project and save as the administrator with no luck.I then tried copying and pasting the first five slides into a new project and saving and publishing that way, no luck. Still gets stuck at Optimizing Content and the folders look like this (folder assets) below. I'm out of ideas here. My next step would be to uninstall and reinstall I'm guessing. Any ideas why it gets stuck and why some assets are published and others are not? 

I have a training module put together and everything is working fine but I discovered a bug that I can't fix. I am not sure if it is a problem with the quiz settings in the module, or a problem with our LMS, or a combination of the two. If the learner is in the middle of the final quiz (10 multiple choice questions), and they close the window exiting the module, when they go back to the module through the LMS, it will resume at question one, that was already answered (answers selected, things greyed out, nothing selectable), but there is no way to navigate past these questions to continue where they left off. So they are essentially stuck. On the screen there is a custom play pause button, which is set on the first slide of the module and carried through all slides, that if clicked repeatedly will make the answered questions slides advance one at a time until you return to where the quiz really left off. We have a lesson with a swf file (we do not have the original files for this swf) that plays a Naval Battle game.Since we are transitioning to HTML5 we are in process of making changes. In this lesson one player calls out a number and a letter and the opposing player lets him/her know if was a hit or not. As this happens questions are asked and answered (in the screen). For instance, I ask you a question and if you do not answer it correctly, I will shot and you let me know if I hit one of your boats or not. I was looking and reading everything I found online about simulations in captivate (mine is  8  and so far I have no idea how should I do this simulation/game.Has anyone ever done anything similar?Can anyone give me some ideas on how to get this done?I appreciate it.Maggie.

I have created a team-based game show style quiz which includes a scoreboard. It's intended as a resource for our trainers to use in the classroom. Everything works as it should - the quizmaster navigates to a question slide and allocates points to the current team based on the answers they give him/her. In doing so, they navigate back to the scoreboard which is now updated with the appropriate number of points being added to the relevant team's total. I now want to be able to manually add or subtract points from a team's total. I've added buttons to the scoreboard slide to accomplish this, and they do work (clicking on the + symbol for the blue team increases their score by 1 etc). The problem is that the scoreboard totals don't update immediately - I have to navigate away from the scoreboard and then back again to see the new score. Is there a way of getting the displayed scores to update as and when they change, without having to leave the slide? Specif

I was tasked with learning Captivate and turning a powerpoint into a Captivate module for caregivers. So far not so bad, a minor issue I am having is learning how to do variables. I wanted to have code that displays the amount of answers the user got wrong. EG this line shows the number they got right:   $$Topic02$$ I have no idea what this means. Any help is appreciated. Good day to everyone,I am using a newly installed version of Captivate 2019, and attempting to publish a lesson to HTML5, into a folder located on my desktop, part of the main drive of my computer.  However, during the publishing process, the system gets stuck in the Optimizing Content phase of publishing... and never completes the publishing and zipping of the file. At that time, it also slows down my computer from the state-of-the-art, fresh-out-of-the-box Core-I9 super highspeed laptop that it is, to something more resembling an i386, circa 1997.I have looked through the forums, and on Google, but I still have not been able to find an answer on how to fix this.  I would value any suggestions you amazing professionals might have on how to resolve this issue.Thank you!J. I'm creating a quiz, but I can't seem to edit aspects of it, namely the gray bubble text and the logo. I've looked in the themes section, tried clicking directly on the text/gray bubble. I aslo went the themes section, I didn't see a setting for it.  

I have many quizes saved in captivate. They are in a custom template and contain text, buttons, and images.On saving and in some cases publishing the quizes (some but not all) will show blank if i re-open them to edit items. If i click where the text should be it will re-appear and i will have to go through each slide and click on every section that should show something for it to appear.I have cleared my cache, i have done updates, i have re-created from scratch but noting seems to be working.

Hi All,I'm working on Demo files in Captivate 11.8. We have a situation where the user's names have to be blurred on few slide which has type action.And the auto populate feature in the application for which we are creating the demo is very quick in showcasing the user names. So we find it difficult to add a patch for the video. Kindly guide me how to expedite this process as we have multiple slides which requires blurring user details. Thanks in advance!Regards,Pragadesh

I am using the new Captivate to create a training on ergonomics with knowledge checks throughout and a self-assessment at the end. For the self-assessment, I'm using graded questions so the results are sent to the LMS. I want there to be correct and incorrect messages on the knowledge checks, and that function is working as expected. However, I do not want the self-assessment to include correct or incorrect messages, as we are basically asking them if they have pain or are struggling to apply the guidelines we recommend in the training at their job. Is there a way to turn the correct and incorrect messages off for certain slides? If not, can anyone think of a workaround I could use?

Hello!  I'm a new user to Captivate having been a Storyline user for years.  My new role is for a company where they are using Macs and have Adobe licenses, so Captivate was the easiest choice for us to use for eLearning creation.I'm creating my first project in Captivate using v12, and have viewed tutorials for previous versions of Captivate where Variables were used to reveal the Next button on a slide after a user clicks all required objects on a slide.Unfortunately, those steps are not working in Captivate 12.On this slide in question, which I have named Table of Contents, I have used the Add Media Blocks function to add Images.  The user needs to click on each image before advancing. Because I needed 5 images, I had to add two Media Blocks.I will note that each image takes the user to a new slide when it's been clicked.  Then the user clicks a button to return to the Table of Contents, and the intent is that after the user has clicked on all 5 images the Next b

I misunderstook the "Shuffle Answers" option on quiz questions. I thought it would shuffle the answers on every presentation. I understand now that it only does that on retakes.As a result, I have hundreds of quiz slides in which the correct answer is always in the same place. Whoops! Is there any way to have Captivate shuffle them? Or do I need to manually change the order of the answers for all my questions. The quiz questions were all created manually (not using a pool or import.) Any way to make fixing my mistake easier? Thanks in advance! 🙂     (Captivate 2019.)

In the previous version of Captivate, it was fairly easy to enforce no retakes of a quiz after publishing to an LMS, but I just recently got upgraded to Version 12.2 and now I'm unable to do that. I set the number of attempts to "1" on the quiz results slide, but there must be something else I need to do? I also noticed that when I publish the SCORM file, I get two files: one is a ZIP file with the application icon and the other is a folder. I used to upload the folder to the LMS, but it is no longer a supported file type. Help!

Hello,I have the newest version of Captivate Classic 11.8.2.254.I am trying to Preview in HTML one of my projects which I created in 2022.When the system sends me to the browser there is only an endless loading icon and nothing happens.Second thing which I think is related to it is that I can't preview the file in my LMS. U upload the SCORM file and I see endless loading icon in my LMS. I can successfully upload the file but when I try to preview the project - again endless loading icon.1. What can I do to preview the project in HTML?2. What can I do to use my cptx file and "Publish" it to SCORM and use it in my LMS?Please help with this one.

Hello,As a beginner with the new Captivate, I'm trying to set up an initial basic training course to better understand the possibilities and I'm already stuck on a feature that seems rather obvious to me.I simply want to insert an image of coloured waves and have this image aligned vertically with the top edge of the slide.And I'm trying all the different possible settings, but none of them gives the right result (see screenshots). Either the image is distorted, enlarged or badly positioned.If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for solving this problem, I'd love to hear from you 😉Thanks in advance, Sébastien 

We're running into this weird issue on cc2017 version, where the audio will start late, up to a couple seconds throwing off our timeline.It seems to happen when you first enter the slides. They're exported as html5, and I've never seen such a big delay before, especially from a file that isn't that big, or have that much content to slow it down.We're used this file before to make other courses, that had a lot more moving parts, Has anyone else experience this issue, or found what was causing it?

I am creating a Captivate that is mostly drag and drop slides. There are 5 slides with at least 10 drag and drop on each slide. How do I get the 10 drag and drops on each slide to count as 1 individual point displayed on the quiz result slide? So each slide should have 10 points, and if the student gets one wrong, I want them to at least get 9 points for that slide.  Right now if the students misses 1 of the 10 drag and drops on a slide, they miss the whole question losing the whole 10 points rather than just 1. 

Is there a proposed timeline as to when the new Adobe Captivate will be able to make and use hotkeys for actions?

Hello,I use Presenter 10 with Powerpoint 2007, Windows 7 Pro pack service 1, AME CS6 and Quicktime 7.When I import a video file, Media Encoder is launching but nothing happens and I have an error message "The file encoding failed".I tried with several video format (MP4, AVI, FLV ...) and with different files, even a new created file.However, the swf's import works.Thanks for your help.

I use Adobe Captivate Classic 11.8.2.216.When I export to SCORM I get an error message when used in LMS:"Error - unable to aquire LMS API, content may not play properly and result may not be recorded.  Please contact technical support". Anybody who knows how to handle this?

Hi all, I am actually pretty excited about Captivate 12 but I am quickly growing dismayed with the level of assistance I can find. When looking for more information here or on the eLearning site, I am inundated with Captivate < 11 questions and posts. For anyone makine the jump you know that these dicussions just don't carry over.Am I missing something? Has anyone been able to locate:Discussion board filter for only Cp 12 contentFeature RoadmapCP11 to CP12 How-to comparision? (i.e.: you did it x way in 11, you'll do it y way in 12)Advanced user guides I think there are some positive advances that Cp has implemented but certain "classic" features which have just.... vanished? Or maybe they haven't? I dont even know what I don't know! 🤣

Using Captivate 2019, build 11.5.5.553 on Windows 10 Pro.I've had very few problems with Captivate until yesterday. My projects use smart shape navigation buttons with simple advanced actions. Starting yesterday, whenever I copy and then attempt to paste a button to another slide, I get a message with: "A fatal error has occurred and the application is being terminated..." (image attached) and Captivate crashes. This was not an issue previously as I had copied and pasted the same button two days ago in the same project. Thinking something was wrong with my project, I opened a previously completed project and tried the same thing with the same result. This tells me there's an issue with the program, not the project.I cleared my cache and reset preferences to no avail. I hadn't even thought of updating until I saw something on another post. I updated to the current build and the problem remains.This occurs with most objects set to Use as button that also use advanced actions. I found a w

I want to create more VR projects and I am trying to find out the best way to create the images for Captivate VR projects.  What projection is best:  Cylindrical, circular fisheye?  What cameras work best:  GoPro Max, Ricoh, others?  What is the best stitching software for 360 photos?  Does anyone have experience with PTGui (www.ptgui.com) for stitching photos together for Captivate VR projects?  I am hoping that someone has discussed this, but I have not found a good thread yet.
