I am running on a 64 bit machine with plenty of memory and disk space.. I am finding CP8 quite slow at times - particularly when saving files, preferences dialog, preview . Anyone else running in to this? Is there any trick to speeding it up at all? Thanks, Lori
The purpose I want to use Captivate for is as follows, A student sits down in front of the computer, they enter their name etc, a video plays and then they have to answer questions. Atthe end I would like to be able to print a form that has their name that they entered earlier plus the results from the questions. I know how to insert the video and questions and get results but I do not know if Captivate can allow students to enter their Name etcc. Can anyone give me advise?
Hello, I have made a simulation in Captivate 2 with click boxes and I have activated in the quiz manager the report by email. But, when I launch the simulation after publishing it, my Outlook opens itself each time I click on a click box... I remember that in Captivate 1, the report by email launches Outlook only at the end of the simulation. What is the problem? Thank you Eliser
We've just started using Captivate2 (v2.0.0) however we've already bumped into a repeating serious flaw. After recording a short web based software simulation (135 slides), we attempted to save the project using the usual "Save As" option and clicked ok. The file gets created (~7MB) in the target directory, Captivate shows it's saving and the save bar gets to the end but then just hangs using 99% CPU. Using the Task manager process window with I/O read, write and other shown, we can see that no data is read, written or "other". After a while windows changes the title bar to "Not Responding". This doesn't change even after leaving it for 2 hours. The only option is to end the application. On attempting to load the saved project, Captivate states that the project is corrupt and then closes - no storyboard is displayed. The machine is a IBM T42 laptop, 1GB RAM, 10GB free HD space running Windows XP and IE 6.0. The rest of windows XP patches are uptodate. Laptop screen as primary at 102
Using Captivate 5 on Mac OS 10.5.8 and have Word X (10) Service Release 1 installed.I get the following message when trying to publish a project to MS Word:Publish to MS Word failed Retry after ensuring that- The document is not open.- You have installed Microsoft WordNeither of the above circumstances is the case (document is not open, and Word is indeed installed)I hope that someone can help with a suggestion.
I'm getting a broken interface. Tested on a different station where it does not reproduce, so the error is local. Just updated Flash. Do I need to fix swz files as mentioned in a non-Captivate forum? Any ideas?Drag and Drop tab - Options tab- Set Correct Answers...Looks like this:
Hello all,I had a quick question. I've been browsing the web trying to figure out the best way to accomplish this task. How would I go about ensuring that closed captions are displayed after they have been toggled on a previous slide? On my file now it seems that it turns off after the slide changes, which causes users to have to re-enable on each progression. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi there, I was after any advice or input anyone could give me regarding audio editing. I have tried to do this in two ways, both times, similar problems seem to occur. I've tried either a single large piece of audio (recorded in audacity, import to captivate as wav file) or smaller sections. I spent all day yesterday using the audio > edit > project function within captivate to match my audio to the slide lengths, and amend the slide lengths appropriately. I've come to listen to it today, and the whole audio has gone whoopsie! it starts off okay, but captivate is repeating and looping certain sections of audio, sections are in the wrong order. So all the work I did yesterday is kind of wasted. I'd really appreciate any advice on the cause of this issue, or suggestions as to the best method of working. I'm still fairly new to captivate so am open to any suggestions. I am creating a training project where I have recorded the screens within my application and recorded the audio (
Hi, When I use Captivate to create a training movie for a PowerBuilder application, the first time I click on a button on the application I got the "Error Loading Library" message. If I click on the same button again, this time I don't see that same message. Then I click on a drop-down text field, the application hangs. At this point there is not much I could do but to kill the application. Can someone shed light on this issue. Thanks. Tuan
I am using a late 2013 MBP with 16GB RAM, and the latest version of Adobe Captivate downloaded with my Creative Cloud subscription, but I consistently find that Adobe Captivate runs especially slow. Enough to hinder my day-to-day workflow.I've noticed that it will only use a max of 3GB of RAM, and doesn't seem to be taking advantage of the full capabilities of the CPU, as my CPU % sits at around 15-20, even while performing presumably resource-intensive tasks. I could understand if it was maxing out the CPU and performing poorly, because at least it was using all the resources it could to try and deliver the best performance. But it is laggy and slow without even using the resources available to it.Does anyone know if you can adjust the RAM or CPU allocation settings for Adobe Captivate? I've used other software that performed poorly before, but I was able to adjust the settings for how many resources I allocated to it, and saw great performance gains. As an example
Update - Saturday, March 13th, 2021 10:30 AM PST Adobe Engineers have identified the underlying issue which was related to the management of assets in the Asset Panel. This is not the same issue that was identified related to the Microsoft Windows Update on Tuesday, though it may have presented similar error messages. On Friday, our asset team added a substantial set of additional sounds to the Asset library. A dormant bug in the Adobe Captivate code related to file management was triggered by the substantial number of additional assets. We are rolling back the additional assets for the moment, to restore functionality as quickly as possible, and are simultaneously working on an update that will remove the file management bug from Captivate. From a user perspective, this will mean that: 1. Those new sound files will not be available for a little while longer. 2. Captivate will simply start working again as it did before, with no action req
HiSince moving to Captivate 2017 we have started getting this message come up when a learner selects a link to a pdf (that is either on our website or in our online knowledge repository. I have checked using IE11 and Chrome - made sure the pop up blocker is off - but still get this warning. I'm certain the popup blocker is off because our LMS uses popups and I wouldn't be able to see the module at all if they were still on The pdf tab opens ok but this message is making our learners a little unsettled. Anyone else experience this? Anyone know if there is a setting in Captivate that needs to be ticked/unticked?
Recently whenever I attempt to print/publish to Word, I get an error message and the publish fails. It has worked in the past without issue but now it simply doesn’t work. I’ve included screenshots of the settings and error message. All programs up to date and permissions work on both. All other aspects of Captivate and Word appear to be operating perfectly. Using Captivate Classic 11.8.4.21.
I have used Breeze Presenter 5 successfully on my previous laptop. I now have a new laptop running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 and Microsoft Office for Students & Teachers 2003, SP2. I have installed all of the relevant Office updates. (Toshiba Satellite M100 w/intel Centrino Duo) I select the Breeze menu and record audio. I can get past the microphone test screen but as soon as I click the record button PowerPoint crashes. "Microsoft PowerPoint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have uninstalled & reinstalled Breeze, I have repaired it using the installer and I have used several different microphones - both USB and microphone jack. I have used the Windows sound recorder to test my mike and it works OK there. My Breeze info is: Breeze Presenter v. 5.0.207 build 207 Is there a patch for my problem or a setting I should change? I can't figure out what else to do. I didn't have this type of problem on my old computer
I am working with a CMS that can work well with flash files individually. They tend to be rendered just fine (therefore I get to bypass the html export). Upon trying Adobe Captivate 2, the publish feature creates 2 flash files (and others, but later on that) - one for the skin, one for the content. Is there some way to get AC2 to publish the skin and content into one file? Or am I going to have to do that in Flash 8?
Hi guys, I've seen a lot of forum messages about overlarge project sizes and artifact information causing project file size growth. What I've just discovered, however, has me totally confused on this issue. In an effort to resolve other problems (my autosize caption issue from a previous message), I ended up creating a series of blank projects (as advised in many of the reduce-project-size solutions) in which to copy and paste the slides from my troubled projects (I first tested with one and not only achieved some success with better resizing of my captions but also got a whopping file size reduction from 9,000KB to 3,000KB). Before I even got to the copy-and-paste stage, however, I noted really strange behaviour with my blank project sizes. At first, I created a project (Step5, and somewhat later Step5_skin for the blank project with the custom skin) ... then since I had a lot of projects to move over, I thought to simply "Save As" the blank project to several names as a shortcu
We recently upgraded from Captivate 3to Captivate 5, with Captivate 3 we published all of our projects as .exe files and never experienced a problem. However, I just created a project in Captivate 5, published it as a .exe file (tried with both Flash Player 9 and Flash Player 10) and users cannot access the file. Those of us that have the Captivate 5 application installed on our PCs can open the .exe file without a problem. However, the users that do not have the Captivate 5 application cannot open it. All of us have Flash Player 10 installed, therefore, I don't believe it's a problem with the Flash Player. The error message that they are getting states, "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."My project information is as follows:Resolution: 800x600Slides: 13Slides with audio: 0Audio quality: MP3, 96 kbps, 44.100 KHzeLearning o
Can Captivate send the last slide viewed to an AICC LMS and retreive that slide number from the LMS. So a user won't have to go thru 40 slides again to get the point where they left off (Client demands this ability). In their words "True E-learning development software can send and receive data from an LMS" I know how to hack AICC javascript code to send, retreive and parse the returned data. Had to hack it for previous Articulate and Authorware courses. If Captivate can read from and write to a javascript variable in the html page, then all is good.
I updated to Captivate 5 and eLearning Suite 2 almost soley for the reason that I wanted to fix the issue wherein Captivate would play all play all the embedded animations in your project at the same time, regardless of your position on the timeline. What this essentially means is, on slide 1 you would hear the audio from slide 3, 4 etc, and by the time you reach those slides, the animation has ended. What's happening is the Captivate Timeline doesn't seem to understand the queue points for each animation, and just plays them all at the very start.Veterans of Captivate 4 and AS3 will remember this issue, and the way to generally get around it was to create custom flash loaders, which would load an external SWF. This was rather painful and time consuming, and I ended up programming a custom widget to do it for me, for a function which should have otherwise been quite a simple "insert -> animation". Whilst this was a clever work around, it never always worked as flawl
I've developed some ActionScript 3 widgets for Cp4 that I've used in my projects and wanted to share them with the rest of the community. If you end up using them, please post a comment on my blog.Customize the TOC Expander ButtonVideo in the TOC (or logo, caption, ..etc)Use a Variable as the default text in a Text Entry BoxReposition the Closed Caption Box (Gives you room for a logo or video)Reposition the playbar and show/hide its buttonsEnjoy,Jim Leichliterhttp://jimleichliter.blogspot.com
I have been using Captivate to imbed an audio recording of a presentation into the slides for said presentation. The audio is in the form of one large mp3 file. When adding the audio, I select the option to distribute over many files, and line up all the slides to the correct part of the audio. If i need to edit the slide times or audio (this happens frequently because captivate seems to be rather buggy when splitting up the single audio track into one for each slide) the resulting Captivate Project file rockets in file size. I believe this is because it is keeping a copy of all audio used in Captivate, ie an old and new copy of the whole mp3 stream, before and after editting. If this happens a few times the file size grows accordingly, and for a 50min presentation i'm looking at project files of 1.3GB. These are clearly pushing my (powerfull dual core, 2GB RAM) desktop to the limit. I have tried removing all unsed items from the library but this makes no difference to the size of th
I've just imported a PowerPoint presentation into Captivate 3. Most of the 25 slides have bullet-point advances and other animations built in to them. The live presenter advances the animations manually, as she talks to the slides. I've got her voice recorded, and want to trigger the animations in time with the audio. Does Cap 3 allow me to do this? It doesn't seem so. thanks!

I have just downloaded the new Captivate 8, but I an not sure how to publish a stand-alone, interactive file now. In previous versions, one could publish an .exe file that didn't require a browser to work. In the new version, there appears to be two options: HTML 5/SWF or video. The video option publishes a .mp4. Is there still a way to publish a .exe?Thank you!
