Internal error code: (521764949:496+1) attempt to index a nil valueHow to fix this?

Hello, it´s been some time working with Character Animator, fine without any problems. Today suddenly all the artwork and some puppets appear like SMPTE color bars in all scenes. No internal error code appears. Please help I was about to finish this project, thank you very much for your time and support! Character Animator  Version  2025Macbook M3 Pro 

I have worked with the same puppet for nearly 2 years now with no problems. Then, last Friday, opening the puppet brings up an Internal error code.I have tried upgrading Character Animator, switching from normal to Beta, unistalling and reinstalling, starting a new project, creating a new puppet and leaving and coming back after a few days. I am still getting this error and don't know how to solve this problem.

久しぶりの投稿になります。 (1)最近、Premiere Proを使っていて、気になったことがるのですが、キャラクターアニメーターはタイムコードに直接入力できませんよね?(2)録画の画面やストリームの画面では、カメラをON/OFFできますが、リグの画面で、ON/OFFはできませんよね? (3)キャラクターアニメーターの本が欲しかったのですが、ありません知っていたら、教えていただけませんか？日本語があればいいんですが？ (4)なぜかはわからないのですが、イラレデータはずれていないのに、キャラクターアニメーターの画面になると、リグの画面で体の位置がバラバラになっているのですが、原因がわかりません。最初からそうなっているではないのですが、イラレのデータを触った後、保存し、キャラクターアニメーターに戻ってくるとなっています。どのタイミングで、なるかはわかりません。対処法などを教えて頂けると助かります。 質問は以上４つの質問になります。 念のため、日本語コミュニティの方にも投稿させて頂きました。(4)は日本語コミュニティには投稿していません。 長くなって申し訳ありません。答えて頂けると、助かります。  

I created a puppet using the Puppet Maker in Character Animator. I wanted to make changes to the mouth but "Edit Original" is not working. I click it and nothing happens.  As per a previous post, I have Creative Cloud plan and it automatically updates the apps.  I checked and I am up to date on all apps. According to my Creative Cloud Desktop - I have multiple versions of photoshop. I don't know if this is the issue. If it is, please let me know how to uninstall previous versions.

When I use the Character Animator "File" import function, none of my .ai or .psd show up as eligible for importing. The user documentation says it should, but it doesn't. So the this program is unusable for me.

I have a draggable bee puppet with arms. I made his arms go wide and closer to his body with Dragger behaviour and turned them into 2 replays. I want the "arms close to body" replay to start when i drag him up (to look more aerodynamic), and "arms wide open" when i drag him down (for the feeling of landing). Since Motion Triggers behaviour only work with layers, I couldn't find a solution for the smooth transition and easing out. (Turning it into cell animation and Cycling Layers isn't working well, especially for the other Replays he does with his arms)  Is it possible to trigger replays by anything else? I think the only solution I have is to Transform him move in Y position and make new replays with it, but I'm not sure if I will be happy with his position in the scene everytime this happens. Thank you!Samet

Hi. I've added a swap set to arms to make puppet wave. I kept original arms for every other move so I have 'left arm' plus 'left wave' as a separate group. Limb ik works but not for swap set 'left wave' group. Do I have to make swap set arms on a duplicate puppet or can I get limb ik to work on both 'left arm' and 'left wave' group on the same puppet ? Hope that makes sense. Thank you

I'm working with Version 2025 on mac and Version 2024 on Windows. This same issue occurs in both Windows 11 and Mac OS (M2 Chip), specifically with a Network Attached Storage ( Synology in my case)The Software works fine when saving files on Google Drive or Locally on either OS. But on Windows :It refuses to Export in the NAS, but otherwise it saves and edits on the NAS on windows just fine. This is the error -  On Mac :It refuses to open, edit any previously saved project on the NAS. It gives this errorSurprisingly, I can open the same files in Premiere Pro and Import the .chproj file in there and get exports from that to the NAS easily. I do not understand this confusing issues and i want to be able to save, edit, and export files on both OS from the NAS, just like other Adobe Products like Premiere pro, After effects, Photoshop etc.What am i encountering here ? Is there any solutions for this other than saving locally  as answered here Character an

I know this is a commonly requested feature, but boy oh boy would I love to see it. If we could import animations and assets from Animate straight into Character Animator that would be incredible. Is this a feature on the docket? I know you can animate in PS, but it doesn't feel quite as streamlined for the animation process as Adobe Animate. Also, if we could incorporate tweens, that would be legendary. Alternatively, if we could just export Adobe Animate files straight to Illustrator while maintaining layers (and finding some kind of solution for timeline animations, maybe distribute to layers and put in folders). However, this feature might be exclusively used for the purposes of integration to Character Animator. Direct compatibility would probably be an easier solution. - Daniel

I've made a part of my puppet shareable, and i don't want it shareable. Seems there's no way to do this? But that makes no sense, it would be really stupid if a program doesn't have the option to undo something as simple as make something previously shareable no longer shareable.

Is it possible to save my Scene Camera in the same way I can save puppets? For my cartoon I have a variety of scenes that I may use for a video, and each of those uses a specific camera that I've set up. I'd like to be able to save the Scene Camera along with my puppets, and just import them as-needed for each project. Currently, the only way I've found to do anything like this is to make a template project that has all of my puppets and scenes set up with their respective cameras. However, I'm often updating my puppets (which means I'd have to update my template each time, which is time-consuming), and each video may only use 2-3 of the scenes I have. Making a project with all of the unneeded scenes every time means I'm adding in a bunch of unnecessary files, which isn't ideal. If I could just save the Scene Camera and import it in the same way I do for my puppets/backgrounds it would streamline the workflow considerably. Out of curiosity, why build in robust controls l

Is it not possible to copy takes (audio and puppet) from one scene and paste them into another?I find I can copy the individual inputs from a puppet and paste them into another existing puppet in another scene, but it's quite counter-intuitive to try copying the puppet track and pasting into a different scene and getting the unhelpful "Select the target track or take in the timeline" message, when the whole point is that you don't have a target track or take yet - I just want to use what I'm copying from another scene!Worse is that you seemingly can't copy or paste audio takes at all! The only way is to right-click the track, reveal in the project, then manually drag that take down onto the timeline of the desired scene. If you've got half a dozen takes, that quickly becomes tedious trying to position them all in the same way, and even worse if you did any splitting/trimming.It's NUTS that you can't perform one of the most basic actions in what seems to me would be a ver

I have used Character Animator in the past with no problems, but it has been about 6 months. Now whenever I load a project I get a message in the camera panel that says "waiting for camera". I have confirmed through the microsoft camera app that the camera is working. Any ideas? Steps to reproduce:    1. After a 1 week break from CH, I went to open my project that I've been working on all year and my .proj file will not open.I get the message 'Internal code error: Project too old to open this version of the app'. My previous files from Time Machine have the same error.When I try opening my backup files I manually created on my disc, they simply act like they open like a ghost file. No error but no files showing. This happens on all of my back ups. I even created a new project from a few puppets I saved but the project doesn't save at all even though it looks like it did. This project will reopen in CH until I try opening my original project, and then its gone and nowhere to find the file.The only thing weird that happened this week is that my Mac forced me to update on restart and it didn't look like a normal update. Hi, this is so strange but i exported a character out on adobe character animator (create your puppet), its on a black background. I put it on my timeline on premiere pro with my desired background. the animator character puppet is there but on the black background. i have used all the troubleshooting techniques, mask, ultra key, crop, etc but the black still stays. ive tried the tolerance, shadow, etc. any ideas?

I am making a cartoon for a 1st grade class based on a book they read.  Each student drew their character and recorded their lines.  They also drew backgrounds.  I am fairly inexperienced in both Character Animator Pro 2025 and After Effects which I haven't used in many years. I am wondering which application I should use for the main timelines. I can see how I could do it incharacter animator but I have a few characters that will not animate in a traditional fashion. For example there is a stapler which will move a giant mouth (being the base) up and down. Can someone give me a workflow of how I can use character animator to do the major characters and also do other animations such as the stapler? Also, I am trying to use some of the premade characters to steal their eyes and mouth.   When I bring them into Photoshop I can see all of the hierarchy of body parts. Hi When triggering a set to Cycle Layers, all my other layers disappear. Sometimes they end up cinvisible after the trigger and I can't make them reappear. Layer settings look normal on all the other layers so noit sure what's causing this.

Yesterday 9 Jan 2020 - I downloaded Character Animator for the first time. I have an older system (that cannot be upgraded any further) so downloaded the latest available version. This worked fine until I tried to import a commercial model and got the message saying it couldn't be imported, so I tried another, same messgae.Looking for a solution here, someone suggested reistalling the app. So I deinstalled it and when I went to the app downloader but now there is only the option for the current version (which is incompatible with my system).So something has happened in the last 24 hours that's suddenly made the app inopperable? Is there a way of getting an older version?

This system is not very stable.

Hi there !  Not much to say about this little bug I found. I have a character with some of her faces who have a "nose" layer, here in my video it's only the "Right Profile 2" layer that contains that nose layer, and it automatically creates a tag "nose". That problem happens when I go to the Record menu, it seems like the whole face behaves as if that point was fixed. (For clarifications, I move my head when I return to the Record menu in the video) I do not use any nose related feature, so it's not a bother for me to erase that tag, but it's a kind of funny behaviour only for a nose tag... Last thing to say about this problem : it's not related to the handle itself, when I remove the "Nose" tag, it works fine. Here if you have any question regarding my character and its rigging.

Hello,I recently tried to record some walking animations and for whatever reason it isn't recording.  I have the puppet selected in the timeline and the behavior is armed, but as soon as I hit record, the puppet freezes. I thought there must have been an error with my puppet and upload an example puppet, Evan, and it still isn't recording. Also on a side note when I hit the play button, the playhead does not move. Is there a bug with my program? Please advise.

I keep getting the same error. I'm about to give up on using Adobe Character. I updated the driver, but it didn’t work. I even formatted my computer, but that didn’t help either. None of the solutions I found online worked; the problem is with the Adobe Character program
