When I save my Puppet in AI, then open in up Character Animator the puppet's limbs are not in the same place as the Illustrator file and I have to realine everything. Is this normal?
I've been mixing character animator with 3D scenes for years now. I still have to manually keyframe special props in AE to match characters hands, for instance. An example is character needs to throw an object in three dimensions, or a special effects layer needs to follow the hands and leave particle trails. Currently I have to add a null manually and keyframe over the imported CH artwork. It doesn't even have to be natively brought in with the artwork. A simple "export handles to AE nulls" would do the trick. thank you!
I am working on a character that have a head but do not have body I am showing the Layers here I have added walk behavour to it But It is not working properly how should I rig it ?
Greetings fellow animators. I've watched and enjoyed a lot of OK SAMURAI videos. Now I'm currently testing some workflows, and one of them involves me just exporting the puppet's mouth. I want to create a fully lip synced mouth on a puppet, but then turn off all but one of the face features and export just the mouth. That way I can place the lip synced mouth onto some footage in Adobe Premiere. It'd be cool to do this with the eyes too. I'd like to create eye movement like blinking, staring, darting pupils, etc. and then bring that into Premiere to lay over some footage. Everytime I turn off the head layer in rigging, the mouth disappears. is this possible? Who's got a workflow for me? Big thanks to Dave Werner for getting me this far 😃 Ryun
Hi, I am NEW to the community and Character Animator. I have the idea of what I want to use Character Animator for but have questions on what a good setup would invole interms of equipment,Such as mic, Camera, headphones and what else might i need. Any suggestions, thoughts or directions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you GregTNYC
Hello there,Thank you in advance for any help 🙂 I am working on this character but something is wrong because I can't get character animator to detect the body of my puppet properly. I have followed the tutorial step by step but it didn't work. Can anyone help? Keep in mind that I created the character with Procreate and I exported the draw in a PSD file and imported in character animator. Here are some pictures that show you the problem:
Hello, I have a puppet where I share the arms, mouth, eyes etc. between frontal and profile mode. But I just noticed that when I update the puppet in illustrator the shared parts are not being updated. Is this normal or has the link to the layer been broken? In that case, is there a way to update it?
I currently have a character with the left arm draggable when I record: On the left wrist is the draggable, I simply pull with my mouse and it works. However on the right side which is almost identical: When I drag this in the same way then it doesn't work. Both layers have the crown associated: Any idea why I can't drag? I'm attaching the character as a dropbox link also. [link removed by moderator]
Hi,and please excuse me if Im just being thick. I've created puppets from scratch and am using boiling loops of 3 frames for holds in any position of hte main character to give it some life. My problem is how to switch out of one loop and play a transition animation to the new position, and then to automatically for it to sit in the new position in the new loop. I think I understand swap sets and triggering, but am not getting how to do this in an elegant easy way, rather than some ugly fix with multiple layers, with invisible frames in... so yes I probably am being thick but please let me know if its possible. cheers alan
I have a project with currently 11 different Character Animator scenes dynamically linked in After Effects. I kept getting a "low memory" warning, and I realized that After Effects was dividing up the 26GB of RAM I have allocated for AE 12 ways (2GB for AE and 2GB for each of the 11 instances of Character Animator). Most of these scenes are less than 5 seconds long, so it seems really inefficient to permanently reserve 2GB of RAM for each of them. It's making AE impossible to use with only 2GB available to it. Is there a way around this or do I just have to abandon using dynamic link and export these scenes some other way from CA? I have tried creating proxies in AE, but it still seems to partition the RAM in the same way. Thanks!
what do i do if character is in my school plan, but it still says "start pro free trial"? it was on pro before and i don't know how to fix it :[
I can't seem to get my character's face to stop stretching during a walking/running cycle. The head and neck are tagged in the same place at the base of the Head layer. The Walk behavior is placed on the parent character, and all handles have exactly 1 tag. There are no issues listed in the Rigging Issues panel. The screenshots show how the face looks normally, and then how it looks when stretched long, and when stretched short. Any ideas on how I can fix this so his face maintains its shape as the head bobs up and down during the walk cycle? Thanks!
I'm well into my first project with CA and like it so far. I am going to record a full body shot to get a recording of my character dribbling a basketball. After a couple of dribbles, the arm will go up an should switch to a pointing hand (all set up) where I will add the ball in AE. How can I do the trigger if I'm 8 feet away from the keyboard? I'm sure there's a way to do the ball in CA too, but I don't have that much time. Next one. Thanks for any info.
I am new to the programme. How do you trim or cut the timeline in animator once you have recorded something?
How do I get the walk cycle to look normal, not like the character is first stepping out with their toes???
I have made a character illustration from scratch. It's a simple smiley face all working but eyebrow moves upper head portion with eyebrows
Just watched YouTube videos on Puppet Maker. Looks cool. So I download the most recent version of Character Animator. Open it up to the home screen. Look under both Starter and Pro profiles and is there a Puppet Maker panel in the middle, just as Adobe says there should be? No. No there is not. Is it discontinued? Hidden? Freshly integrated into some other part of the app or split off into it's own? Any ideas? Attached a screenshot to show I'm not making this up.
Hi everybody. I'm a noob trying to make a simple-a__ switch layer animation. It could not be simpler yet, I have agonized for more than a week trying to get my litter critter to speak but to my dismay, no cigar. To be clear- I have all the heads (mouthing the various sounds) all ready and on seperate layers (from Photoshop) and called myself rigging it. Maybe I didn't. Hard to tell as there is no real simple ' "A" is clicked to get "B" result ' type videos on such a simple level. I think what I want is too simple. I don't want it to look good. I want it crappy Monty Python style Terry Gilliam like. I did everything I know (which prob ain't much) and set it up in layers and everything- even followed the examples from Ok Samuri but nothing works: I made different heads with the various mouth positions- I matched them to the Vsimes (wrong spelling I bet) and clicked the head and got a blue outline- I did the scan to compute the lip sync- I brought in my pre-recorded audio
Can I add a dance behaviour to Pencilwondering about the rigging for this.No legs no arms. Thank you for your response, much appreciated.
Inicio o Criador de Caracteres em meu mac, ele fala a primeira frase para fazer uma expressão neutra e para por aí.Há algo que possa fazer para corrigir este erro ?Obrigado
I found the issue with a clearer mindset (had parent layers in some of the swapsets), please ignore. ------- Hi Can anyone help me with this puppet? I'm trying to use the face behaviour with eyelid movement on left quarter body and left profile head. Here is the link to it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YGTcdcc4U2qqLcuBGoVFoeZ0q3WzBfXH/view?usp=sharing I have different colour overlays and for some reason when i use the green overlays, the eyelids disappear. I have no idea why this is happening, all the layers are in the swapset trigger and it works for the red which looks to me like it's set up exactly the same. Anyone have any idea why this is happening? It's driving me crazy just trying to do simple things that don't work. Thanks
I have problems with the program. It downloads fine but when I log in and use any puppet it tells me there is an installation problem, but it doesn't tell me what it is. No character works, if I open it in the program I get a black screen and no option to play. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled and nothing, I have uninstalled even Creative Cloud and reinstalled again, I still can't use it. what can I do?
I made an animation using the Bill Starter feature of Character Animator. Can I use this animation in a commercial educational product i am developing?
Hi, my team are building a puppet that has multiple views (Front, Left and Right for the Walk behaviour) and an extra rig pose that isn't tied to one of the puppet views but has the character in a kneeling pose, which will set to a trigger. We're having an issue where when we test the camera body tracking and raise our arm all the way up, for example, the arm's maximum movement would hit at elbow level or where it becomes horizontal. Similarly with the legs, when we lift our foot in the camera, the puppet's foot will barely lift off the ground and only slightly bend.Unfortunately these puppets are being made for a client so I can't share screenshots of the puppet itself or the Ch file, but here's some screenshots at least of the layer structure and our Limb IK settings. Really appreciate any help, thank you!
1. Head2. Body These layers order will make all the layers inside the Head will be on top of all layers inside the Body, and vice versa. Most of us, I believe, put the arms layers inside the Body parent layer. It's good until you want to make the character do something like screaming, or similiar terrified expressions, where the hands are on the cheek, which means you need to make the hands overlap the head, which is not possible since the arms are inside the Body. That's just one scenario/example. The question is, how do you achieve that kind of pose? You know, when you want to sometimes have some layers inside the Body parent layer to be able to overlap another layer(s) from the Head parent layer. Thank you Alank!Note:I know the one will answer this will be Alank, and no one else. That's how quiet this forum is.
