Dear Forum,My Hardware:Computer: Windows 10 (with newest updates), i7-6700K, AMD Radeon R9 390monitor: Eizo CS270calibration device: datacolor Spyder5Procalibration software: Color Navigator 6 (newest Version from eizo)My ProblemFor example I edit a photo in Adobe Lightroom classic CC (newest Version) and make the colors look perfect for my taste and afterwards I export the image for uploading it to a website (I export with sRGB profile). After when i open the picture for example in Windows 10 App "photos" the before orange looking picture gets extremely red.. if i upload it to instagram on my phone the picture looks also more saturated and red than before in lightroom (where it was more unsaturated and more orange) .. if i upload it to my website the picture seems to look like in lightroom in google Chrome browser.. in EDGE or Internet Explorer or Firefox (all the newest versions) it looks like grap ... extrem saturated and red ... now I'm totally confused and not sure how the picture
I came across this article. I hope some of you will find it interesting and educational. (I didn't write it!)https://photographylife.com/the-basics-of-monitor-calibration
I'd been wondering why images appear to be higher contrast in sRGB mode on my Benq SW2700PT monitor than in AdobeRGB mode. On investigaton I find it's because the monitor doesn't support the linear region in the sRGB gamma curve but applies a gamma of 2.2 across the whole range, from black to white. If I view a black & white image in AdobeRGB and then switch the monitor to sRGB (without changing my monitor profile) I'd expect the shadows to lighten, but they stay the same. In other words, the monitor is using the same 2.2 gamma curve for sRGB as it uses for AdobeRGB (AdobeRGB gamma doesn't have a linear section). This means when I switch to sRGB mode and apply the sRGB profile, the shadows become too dark. It's the same if I calibrate the monitor to sRGB primaries with Palette Master Element. The gamma is applied across the whole range. There is no option available for the linear section. Is this normal behaviour for monitors? I might expect
Hello,Thanks in advance for your help and expertise!I use most of my images edited in Lightroom and Photoshop for the web, however I probably print about 10% of them at home on an Epson 3880.I was wondering if the following is the best way to approach color space:1. I shoot in RAW format and upload my images to Lightroom/Photoshop in the ProPhoto RGB color space in TIFF format2. After editing I save the TIFF image in the ProPhoto color space and use this file for printing.3. I then "save as" to JPEG4. Finally, I will "convert to profile" the JPEG from ProPhoto to sRGB for use on the webDoes this flow suffice as the best way to manage my color space for both print and web? Thanks so much for the help. I really appreciate it!best to you,Rick
I am looking for help on how to match a PMS uncoated color to closely match a PMS coated color. I know this may sound counter intuitive but here is the situation.I work for a company that has a corporate color of PMS 285. Their product comes in uncoated kraft cardboard boxes and when we switched the color to the PMS 285 U they freaked out with the color change. A bit too pastel and hard to read. They want a color (PMS 285C) that matches what they get on nice shiny, coated marketing collateral. How can I closely match a color that will be printed on an uncoated material to an ideal coated PMS color?Hope this makes since. Thank you for your help.Shannon
I am creating a CC Library for our corporate brand and I noticed that we currently have an RGB and CMYK version of our colors. To me that does not seem necessary but maybe there is something that I am missing or do not know. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!
Here's the thing. I set a synthetic ICC profile as a default for my monitor (it's Rec 709 / sRGB gamut profile with 2.2 gamma stored as a single parametric value) and then i assign the same profile for a picture. As a result Photoshop should not apply any correction because document's color space equals display color space right?Well, no... It does apply some serious gamma correction. It looks like it discards the profile for image and uses sRGB instead. Why?The ICC profile i'm talking about can be downloaded here: https://we.tl/t-AxxyjObr72 Here's how it looks like in ICCPorifleInspector:And here's a capture from my monitor:
Has anyone else experienced inconsistencies with CMYK colours since the recent Acrobat Pro DC update (Build: 19.8.20071.303822)?We're finding that most of our print documents (pdf X-1a), whether created with InDesign or Illustrator, are now showing colour values in the pdf files (created directly from those programs) that differ from the original values, usually by just 1%, in the cyan, magenta and yellow channels. Black seems to be unchanged.Pdf documents created prior to the latest update to Acrobat, whose colour values when viewed in Acrobat matched the colours from their origin documents (InDesign or Illustrator) also show this 1% discrepancy in the new version of Acrobat. It's only a small difference, but it's still disconcerting when trying to assure clients that their corporate colours will be printed accurately.

My question is slightly different from previous ones. Colours show the same in Bridge previews and Photoshop, but are much more vibrant in ACR. I have two monitors, the main one is a 10bit wide(ish) gamut, the other a standard sRGB. I only see the strong colours in ACR on the main monitor, on the sRGB one ACR, Bridge and PS all display the same. Both screens have been calibrated with an i1 Pro.In the image below the wide-ish gamut monitor is on the left, the sRGB on the right:My Colour settings in PS are set to monitor colour, so PS always asks me whether to use the current working space or the image profile (aRGB) when opening images. I always choose to use the image profile, but have also tried discarding the profile and converting it, which makes no noticeable difference. In ACR, if I change the output profile to the monitor profile then open in PS, it doesn't make any difference - the image in PS appears the same (i.e. less saturated than in ACR).So I am not quite sure where my issu
Hello. I am using Adobe AI CS6 and am trying to open a file that has used U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 and since for some reason I don't have that, it wants to convert to AI 6.0 Compatible which I do have. So after some searching, I was able to find what i thought was the solution--ICC profiles which includes what I need (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=62&platform=Windows). However upon going to Edit>Color Settings>Load, it only accepts .csf files but what I found are .icc files. Obviously I have no idea what I'm doing here and just need to open this file properly. Any insight from someone that is actually knowledgable on this stuff? I appreciate it!! Thank you. [EDIT: I assume the solution would be to find the .csf version of U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 instead of the .icc but I am unable to find those? Or I am going about this all wrong.]
Hello all, We are hoping to gain a little expert advice. Our organization has specified spot colors in our VIG. We also call out the use the percentages of these spot colors. For instance our logo utilizes a 60% version of our primary color. However, our VIG doesn't doesn't currently call out spot colors for these percentages. The only place this is a problem for us is when we are printing CMYK... otherwise known as "Most of the time".The issue we have is that we have nothing to match to or control when using these % colors. What are some good ways to accurately assign a spot color to a % of an existing spot color?Kyle
Hi Forums.Apologies for double posting, but I realized my first post was to a thread that's already been 'correctly answered'. And this problem does not directly relate to the original posters issue. This is a separate (but somewhat related) issue with Bridge CC 2018 color. Thanks for your patiencePeter--------------I realize that bridge caches it's thumbnails as sRGB. However on my iMac (2017 OS 10.13.5) Bridge CC 2018 is not matching color to an sRGB Photoshop CC 2018 image. Furthermore, on my iMac, the thumbnail views in Bridge's "essentials" mode and "filmstrip" mode are a different color from each other. And neither of them matches Photoshop's color. The screen grab below illustrates. Can you try what i did and see if you get the same results.1: Create an sRGB Photoshop canvas and flood it with RGB (193,143,90)2: Save it to a folder.3: Create 2 Bridge windows and point them both at this folder. put one in essentials view and on in filmstrip view.4:
Mein Problem: In Photoshop sind die Farben wie gewohnt. Nach dem Speichern und Öffnen in einem anderen Programm oder Browser (Z. B. Homepage) zeigt das Bild kurz die richtigen Farben und verblasst dann (siehe Bild unten).
Hi - I've had a color management issue I can't wrap my head around which is similar to this infamous thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3235601#3235601 I'm hoping with a little more information provided I can get this figured out. The basic problem is that Bridge displays images markedly differently than either ACR or Photoshop. The most common issue is as follows:With the external monitor as the primary display (and the laptop monitor as a secondary), I start Bridge. Photos will seem to be in the correct gamut for a moment, but it almost immediately desaturates them as if switching gamuts. Opening the image in ACR or Photoshop shows the correct color. See the below:(Note: on my wide-gamut monitor, there's no clipping on the ACR version - that's how it should look)There are various permuations to this problem depending on which monitor I have on when I start Bridge, but the above is my general workflow. Some background:Lenovo ThinkPad T430s w/ integrated Intel HD4000 graphicsASUS P
So I was trying to calibrate the color of my wide gamut UP2516D display. Now, so far I have been using the creative cloud apps with no problem, and the color was correct. I did notice though that the color i was seeing in premiere, light room or Photoshop was not being respected by windows system viewers once I exported them. I believe this is due to the fact that windows redefined the colors since my wide color display wasn't calibrated properly.Apparently Adobe capped the colors in the app, which is perfect for me since I know their color is reliable. However, I recently tried to calibrate my monitor, and to be honest I do not know at which point (maybe when I accidentally created a new ICC color profile for windows), I ruined the color for every single app on my computer, and now even my adobe apps look saturated, which really gives me a hard time since I have to colorize video and photos professionally. Any advice on how to revert the situation would be welcome. I don't care if Wind
In Adobe Lightroom Classic CCI am currently trying to use the colour from another image (first image) and then have the second image use that colour to balance the whole photo.Example: The blue from photo one is meant to be the same blue in a small section of photo two. I want to select Blue from photo one and tell photo two to focus/balance/filter the second image with that Blue being the initial point.I understand this will affect the whole of the second photo, but I was wondering how this is possible.Thank you in advance
I am having a new problem, which is that when I open a file from LR (desktop version) to edit it in PS (right click - edit in Adobe Photoshop CC 2018) it appears red and overly saturated in PS. I have double checked and both programs are set for the sRGB color space. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop and the problem persists. All my apps are up to date. Any ideas for me as to what is going on? Screen shot attached. The difference is subtle but noticeable to me, especially in the skin tones. Also, I am viewing them on the same screen. !
Hello everyone, So I purchased a pantone solid coated, uncoated book. I've used one of those colors in Adobe illustrator but it appears very different from the one in the book (much lighter.. less saturated.. etc).. I downloaded the "pantone color manager" and to my surprise when I look up that color in the color manager, it appears to be much closer to the actual color in the book. I also looked up the color by it's code on the pantone website and it also looks off (exactly like the one I'm seeing in Ai). The screenshot below shows how the color is appearing in Ai (on the left) and how it's appearing in the pantone color manager (right). ! !It's a very annoying problem as it makes me work with colors that are far from what I want my final output to look like. Is this a color management (ICC profile) problem? Because I'm not exactly an expert in that area.Thank you !
I have been printing photos on my Epson SureColor P7000 printer for a over a year and the colors have been correct and consistent. However in the last few weeks the colors are off when I print through PS CC (and LR CC) which is where I usually print from. I recalibrated my monitor, redownloaded the printer driver and the specific icc profiles. The colors are now muted and less saturated. When I print from Preview (I use an iMac 27" retinal display) the colors are correct. I worked with Epson support and when we discovered that the colors are correct when printed through Preview it made sense that the conclusion is something is wrong with how PS CC and LR CC handles the printing profiles. Anyone have any thoughts?
Sorry for the total NEWB question but I can't seem to Google my way through this problem.I have these three colour codes and I am trying to convert them to Coated PMS. I am not sure what the source format is (is it hex, rgb? can you tell just by the codes?) and how do I get the coated PMS for these colours?0039241B9E47 003924Thanks!!
I started this question in the illustrator forums, but couldn't figure out an answer. I was told to relay the info here.Original Discussion:Exported Colors don't match Preview Colors - RGBMy Problem:Colors don't match in different adobe programs (even though color settings are synced, color modes are the same, and they are being viewed on the same monitor). This video displays my problem, although it shows older info than the images below (You may need to use the chrome browser if you aren't already):Color_Problems.mp4 - Google DriveThese images show the details (I shared these after I made the video, so the info is more updated)Photoshop color settings:Illustrator color settings:Any ideas? Why aren't the colors the same?
Hello, first of all I am sorry for my english, i am not a native speaker, i still hope you can understand my problem.I am having the following setup: - Laptop Lenovo Ideapad - Windows 10 - Benq SW2700PT monitor connected via HDMI to the laptop - Colorimeter X-Rite i1 Display ProI did the following steps: 1. hardware calibrated my Benq monitor using the Benq software Palette Master Element to 90 cd/m2, sRGB, Gamma 2.2, white point 6500K. 2. calibration was successful and as a result an ICC profile was created on system level. This is now the default profile in Windows color management (named SW2700 1_D65_sRGB_L90_G22_2017-07-19T22). After the above steps, all the colors fit perfect in programs like Irfan View, Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Explorer, but not in Adobe programs such as Lightroom and Photoshop CC. I work in sRGB, all the pictures that I open in Photoshop are way
Hello!I have a small independent design studio in India. I am using the latest version of softwares (OS, browesers, updates) on a Macbook as well as windows. Im facing an issue saving the color themes on the color.adobe site. Everytime I try to click on the Save button I see this hovering at the bottom of the browser- javascript:void(0), and the button does not respond to a click. I am already signed in with my adobe ID which also is a paid team membership. What is the point of having such a good tool to create color themes when you cannot save/ use the themes by exporting directly into other CC softwares. It is a real pain copying and pasting the color manually everytime.I have seen this error discussion across various online forums but no revert/ resolution from Adobe. It feels like a grave negligence and an ignorant attitude from a brand of such reputation and stature!Adobe? Please respond?Shirish
I am looking to replace my Apple Thunderbolt 27” Display. I’d like something at least 27”, UHD/4K, and am willing to spend up to around a $1000. I’ll be using it with a 2017 MacBook Pro. Recommendations?
