Please enable "Roman Hanging Punctuation" for point text. How will the idea help your workflow? Roman Hanging Punctuation is part of brand guidelines. Paragraph Text aka Box Text is challenging to use with expressions for mogrts, templates, etc.Anchor Point [0,0] point can get offset from the boxsourceRectAtTime() attributes take into account the paragraph box size, not just the textVisually two text layers can look the same, but these 2 properties will now be totally different
I think I may have suggested this many years ago, but it's worth another go:What are the chances of seeing a character/paragraph style palette in AE? I'm sure I'm not alone in finding the method of copying/pasting a bit of text from a "desired" style into a new text layer, before deleting it and pasting/typing some unformatted text, so it matches the desired style. With the introduction, some time ago, of the ability to access text styles/fonts/etc via scripting/expressions, I'd have thought it wouldn't be too hard to implement an InDesign/Illustrator character style palette. Wouldn't that be nice? (I know I could probably do this using mogrt templates and things, but that's an awkward and time-consuming workaround).

It's very simple: Using the scroll wheel on the mouse to navigate trought the font menu is very slow, especially because for every scroll on the wheel, just a few fonts scroll on the menu. So, it would help a lot if there was a scroll bar on the menu, making it possible no navigate more easily and fast.
Make After Effects stealing focus only optional. Why?App stealing focus disrupts work. After Effects steals focus every time render finishes."Play sounds when render finishes" is an option in After Effects, why is not stealing focus?Copying or zipping files don't steal operating system focus every time they finish then why is After Effects?Imagine you're rescaling an image in Photoshop or you're drawing a precise curve in Illustrator and it's all being interrupted and stopped by After Effects which swiches to itself because a render has finished.Basically After Effects stops whatever you were doing to announce something you might not be interested at the moment. So Adobe team please make After Effects stealing focus optional so we could turn it off when needed to focus on our work. It's a simple and easy fix on your end and it would make a big difference on the workflow.Thanks.
I'd like to see some upgrades to the Exposure effect to make it more usable for compositing. Problems:- Exposure value is additive but the math is multiplication. Makes it unsuable to link to color with expressions.- Offset slider despite being float is way too sensitive so can't be used as log exposure in grading with normal mouse sliding. Even holding cmd/ctrl is too sensitive.- Bypass linear conversion still needs to be checked when project is managed with OCIO. Makes sense as it isn't guaranteed that the working space is linear but would be better to have a checkbox in the project color settings to let AE know you work in linear. (I would personally remove the option all together from Camera Lens Blur and Exposure and always do no conversion, it's not that neccesary for non linear anyway) Solutions:- Display Exposure slider as multiplication with 1,0 as the base value.- Greatly reduce the sensitivity/range of the offset slider.- Either remove the conversion checkbox and m
After the appericiated revert of the Exposure Slider value box instead of a dropdown I think we can expand the feature set even more for compositors. There's plenty of space left.I'd like to see a Gamma and Saturation slider too. It is very common to adjust these for checking comps.Their values should be 1,0 default meaning no change. Personally I would also prefer the exposure slider to be 1,0 at base because it's math is actually just multiplication, it isn't really stops in + or -. Doing 2,0 to add a stop makes more sense because we want to multiply the light by 2. 0,5 for 1 stop down etc.
I'd like to see lots more professional features in AE.A big place for improvement is amount of info shown in UI. Problem:Right now your only awareness of resolution is to open the comp settings, or select the respective comp or layer in the Project Panel. For Bit Depth the only reference is the small indicator on the Project Panel which counts for the project only. Layer/Footage depth is never shown. Only Floating Point is indicated but not even if it's 16 half or 32. Solution:Display the current comp resolution and bit depth above the composition viewer. This makes you much more aware of what you are working with and is very common amongst other compositing software. Secondly this same information can also be displayed in the Info Panel below the RGBA/XY information.Additionally for selected layers in a comp we can also easily add important info. You could potentially show even more info similar to what's shown in the preview pane on the Project Panel like the file
I've used AE in the past, it's the best software I found to create Logo animations. However, this software requires 3rd party plug-ins inorder to work smoothly. Like importing multiple vector shapes from a logo and animated them, I guess this can't be done smoothly so we need a plug-ing called 'overlord' by Battleaxe. I need to know from the developers, why can't they enhance AE to fully support adobe illustrator shapes by using clipboard copy paste?
With all the 3D things that have been coming to AE latley, it would be great to see 3D splines/paths import supported. Specifically so effects such as stroke could be used on them. I need to have them be camera aware of course so they will match my renders from C4D. I do alot of medical animations, nervous system and such, with signals traveling thought the body. I know about the import of 3D light animations but i much prefer using stroke effects. I assume this would happen inside a shape layer? Anyway, thanks.
I have a brand color palette Ai file I have to import for every project I work on. It's only purpose is to be a color reference so I have to set it as a Guide Layer, but that's only allowed per composition and I have to set it as Guide Layer over and over. My idea is to allow user-specified footage to be set as a Guide Layer Only in the Project Panel so wherever it is used, it will automatically be a guide layer. It could go under Interpret Footage>Guide Layer Only or in a similar place/name.
It's well known C4D and AE don't play nice, especially when they're both trying to render. But the "Cache Frames When Idle" is such a nice feature I hate to turn it off when I know c4d is going to be running and then forgetting to turn it back on after I'm done with C4D is a bummer. It would be very handy and a nice timesave if we could tell "Cache Frames When Idle" to not do any Cache'ing when Cinema4D.exe or the program of our choice/s is/are running.
Add a checkbox to the "Cache Frames When Idle" preferences to start caching the other comps in the project after the Comp in focus has been cached. With the profliferation of large cache drives and spare cpu cycles these days if a computer is idle for awhile, it would be greatly beneficial to have After Effects chugging away at all the other comps in the project if there is nothing else going on. I also realize that is potentially a lot of data and cpu power to be used so having this turned off by default might be wise.
Just like how you can "freeze" the rotobrush effect on a layer, I would love to expand the current cache system to allow us to Pre-Render/Cache a comp and "Freeze" or "Lock" it so that cache doesn't get deleted/purged the same as any other random cache files that are generated. I envision it looking like a button seen next to the "Enable Motion Blur for all layers in this comp" button. Pressing the button would offer up some options like processing the cache in the background, locking the comp so no one can change anything accidentally causing the cache to be purged, storage location of the cache (same place as all the other cache, different folder, contained with in the project file, etc. etc.), expiration options (cache expires after a certain date, or after the app is closed, etc.), resolution options (create the cache at different resolutions), multiple states toggle (add the ability to store/cache multiple versions of the comp that we could toggle through). The cur
In my situation, I work on many types of projects. Each of these use their own output path, and their specific output settings / codecs. For me, it would be a real time saver, when each project 'remembers' where I output, and which settings are used. Sor, I would like to have a way to couple a Render Setting / Output Module to a Project, and ideally even for each Comp, in a cascading / hierarchical way (if no Comp render setting is set - it will use the Project render setting).
This would be a toggle where you could effectively freeze the keyframes and allow you to move the layer as if it were a null to itself. I know I can select all the keyframes and set the current time to a frame where one keyframe is and them move my object and all the keyrames will adjust relatively. But this can be tedious, expesicall if the keyrame you want isn't on the current frame you're trying to adjust. And yes, I can create a Null, or precomp etc, but sometimes this is a hassle. Sometimes you might have dozens or hundreds of animated objects and it woudl be really handy and a time saver to toggle a switch or a key command to allow the reposition of a layer and move the keyframes regardless of what frame I'm on and without having to select keyframes. I can create a null attach, move and delete the null, it's just a lot of steps. Thanks for listening!
Needs to be very basic and simple — just plain old text: a simple panel you can have open to scratch down project related notes. Lots of apps provide this kinda facility. Two that do this really well are Logic Pro - has a text box you can note cue times, or lyrics, or notes you'll need to remember next time you open the project - and Blender, which has an arguably more complex (tho powerful) text note feature than we'd need in AE. Examples of the sort of things I need to record with a project:- frame numbers, especially if, say, a sequence has to be exported in chunks for some reason, or if I'm cuing to something outside AE;- quick ideas / thoughts / plans- explanation of "how this project works", for passing AE projects to other people, or creating re-usable projects- to do lists, esp if I know I'm going to have to stop working on something temporarily but will have to come back to it- reminders: "don't forget to turn off the guide audio tracks before exporting comp_19"
Illustrator's Transform Effect is sooooo easy to use. Just type in number of copies and scale, move, rotate, AND anchor points for the effects After Effects Add>Repeater and Transform can get "close" but nothing as easy, fast or powerful as in Illustrator's Effects>Distort&Transform>Transform I would LOVE to see this simplicity and beautiful and easy results in After Effects!!Thanks for your time,DavidB
How about a command that allows us to zoom the Timline to the exact in and out frames that the work area bar is set up to?Right now we can tap the ";" key to Zoom in to Frame Intervals – how about Alt+; to trigger Zoom To Work Area?
I would like to have a Switch in the Gaussian Blur effect, to make it scale independent. When I use footage at several scales, the blur is scaled along, but when compositing, sometimes it is nice to have the blur related to the composition, not the footage scale. This switch should call 'Scale independent blur size'. And when it is set to e.g. 2 px, this should mean that the blur is 2px of the composition, independent of the Layer's scale.
In many cases, I use Turbulent Noise to make composites less harsh, more natural. In these situations, I would like to be able to add Turbulent Noise to just the Alpha Channel. The effect would become tremendously more versatile, when checkboxes for affected channels would be included.
I actually expect the alignment system like Adobe Illustrator in After Effects. Especially key object alignment, which is really effective I think.
Pretty straightforward here.A lot of people render 3d passes and import these into afx for comp or motion work. Usually my passes have a ton of info in them, like the project file name, date etc. I do not need this info in the comp name that is created on the import of these passes. Therefore I suggest that we can have the ability to input a custom comp name on impor, rather than importing, having to find the comp and then rename it.Also, sometimes, being from the UK i work in 25fps, sometimes i work in 30fps. It would be also great to be able to override the default sequence import fps on the fly when you import.Lastly, the importer for sequences is still pretty dumb. Meaning that, if somebody renders a bunch of render passes that are not in a multipass file, it doesn't know to import them. The current workflow for exr with multipass is great, render all your passes into one file, and AFX splits them up and creates a comp, brilliant. If for whatever reason (some
Adobe Photoshop has been the go-to software for image editing for over thirty years. In early 2023, Adobe released the next big thing in image editing – Photoshop AI generative fill. Using Photoshop’s latest version, you can add or delete elements, extend the width or height of an image, and remove backgrounds, to name a few things. Now just imagine if the AI Generative Fill was put into After Effects too, how much better would the Program's Content-Aware Fill's workspace be?
Please add the ability to export/render out in a GIF format, with features like loop, 1 play, 2 play etc...
