Hello, We are trying to use XML DITA to output to HTML Help. I can't figure out why when we output the topic links aren't working. The output TOC looks correct, the chapters and topics are showing up, but no content shows. We work in an environment without internet connection. I don't know if this could cause issues or not. I can't find any instructions in the user guides or other posts with this issue. Please help!

I have a TOC that works for a file with autonumbering. When I generate a LOT or LOF all I get is the figure/table name and page number. No line like Table 6-9 table name.

For navigation purposes I like to have the main heading and the first subheading on a page display at the top of a page. My paragraph tags are defined as follows: H1 Heading 1 is used for the chapter title H2 Heading 2 is used for the main heading H3 Heading 3 is used for the subheading I use Running H/F variables to pull the text from the main heading and the subheading into the headers. Running H/F 1 is defined as: <$paratext[H2 Heading 2]> Running H/F 2 is defined as <$paratext[H3 Heading 3]> So far, all pretty standard. The issue arises when there's a new H2 Heading 2 on a page but there's no following H3 Heading 3. The header updates to use the new H2 Heading 2, but it's still using the information from the H3 Heading 3 that goes with the previous H2 Heading 2, and that's no good. How do I get it to not do that? Or more precisely, if a new H2 Heading 2 is showing on a page that doesn't have a new H3 Heading 3 below it,
Hi all,I have quite a large document in FM2019 (> 500 pages, unstructured format), and when I generate the epub or mobi outputs, there are no hyperlinks between any figures and associated references in the text. The screen grab below should show what I mean. I'm guessing the reason is because I use a frame (within the figure frame) for the figure title, but I'm not sure. Note that the generated PDF is fine (links are generated as expected). Can anyone say for sure what I'm doing wrong here, and possibly suggest a better approach? Thanks.
Hello, Framers!! Quick question:I have a huge English FM User Manual (w/ more than 500 pages) and it was translated into Portuguese last year. Today, the English User Manual is updated and I would like to compare both English versions (old x new) and extract the new content for translation. Then, I would like to merge automatically the translated content back into the old Portuguese manual. -- Is it possible? -- Do you know any plugin or script that can handle it? Thanks in advance!- Paulo Moreno
We recently purchased 3 copies of Adobe frameMaker 2019. we are a gov organziation and typical users do not have admin rights on thier workstations. So an administrator has to install the software. However, I am being told that once they do that, becuse it is licnesed by "user" only the admin who installed it can actually use the software. That make no sense to me. there has to be a way for an administrtor to install the software and then let my tech writer, who needs the software, actually use it on the laptop. Hoping someone can help me out! Otherwise I just wasted $1,200.
I created a cross-ref from one document to a figure in another. When clicking the link in the origin doc, it goes to the figure title for about half a second and then jumps to the section title just before the figure. I have successfully linked to other figures in the same destination doc, but not this one figure. I have removed the markers, remove the image, removed the paragraph tag and reimplemented it. I have tried just about everything but clicking the origin link still goes to the figure and then immediately jumps to the topic heading immediately before the figure.
I am transforming some dita topics and adding some <simpletable> elements. I am trying to add relative column scaling with the @relcolwidth attribute: <simpletable frame="none" relcolwidth="60* 40*"> However, when I open the topic in FrameMaker, the scaling is not applied; I always get a 50/50 column split. Anything I am missing, or will I have to post-process the tables in FrameMaker? Thanks.
I am using 64-bit Windows 10 and FrameMaker 2019 and 2020 (64-bit). When I click the run button in ExtendScript, the script runs and finishes normally, but ExtendScript hangs for a few seconds and give me a "Not Responding" message. Sometimes it will happen again when I click in the script's window to continue editing. Saving the script sometimes hangs it for a few seconds too. Does anyone else experience this? Should I switch to Visual Studio Code or something else? It is quite frustrating that Adobe doesn't maintain and update their scripting tools.
Wir finden den Pod für das Ersetzen von Schriften nicht in Framemaker 2020. In FM19 wird dieser immer gleich angezeigt.Wo findet man diesen in FM2020
I'm working with FM 2019. When I open my book I get some warring messages I have unresolved cross-references. There used to be a pod to see all of these. Has that gone bye-bye or am I missing something?
In my FM2019 document I have the following text:"An empty string (i.e. N'') is a defined value." In FM it looks like:But in the Responsive HTML5 output, the 2 single quotes are not there:And they are also lost in the chm output:What can I do to keep them in the generated output?EDIT:Even worse, take a look at this FM document:But not much is left in the chm file:
My sections are based on Heading 1. The image attached shows a figure under the third time a Heading 1 appears. So I want the figure tag to increment accordingly. 3-1, 3-2, etc. How do I get the figure tag to recognize the section by Heading 1 (and also reset when the next heading comes along?
Is it possible to use a variable within a variable? What I would like to do is to be able to make some translations for specific words and reuse them. For example, I want to use a publication date variable on a Master page. But if I want to insert the month as April in a document, I'd like to be able to choose a French April variable (thus not having to remember the translation or look it up each time) as the definition for the publication date variable.
Dear community,I developped last year a REST API to create/update/trigger Framemaker Publishing Server 2019 tasks from an automation server. Apparently the interface has changed with the 2020 version, and I'm struggling to get it running following the Adobe user guide. A working example in groovy language of a POST request to create a task is as follows: httpRequest ( contentType: 'APPLICATION_JSON', httpMode: 'POST', ignoreSslErrors: true, requestBody: json_body, responseHandle: 'NONE', url: "http://my_node:7000/v16/tasks", wrapAsMultipart: false ) Replacing json_body and my_node by my specific task configuration and host where I run the server. I don't use authentication and that code is enough to successfully create a task.Where I struggle at the moment is to run a task. The example in the user guide suggests using the task ID (earlier version 2019 required the task name):http://<FMPS_server>:<port&g
The last couple of days, according to the splash screen, it's got as far as DDE and then given up. Does this indicate there's something specifically wrong that can perhaps be corrected? or is it just another sign of a generally flaky corporate environment?
I'm using FM 2019 and have recently started to also publish the documentation as Responsive HTML5. I've just noticed that the font used for the chapter title is replaced on one of Windows 10 computers I'm using, but only when using Firefox:The middle window is Firefox. Edge, Chrome and Opera, on the same computer, are all using the desired font. How can FrameMaker make Firefox to use the specified font?
I have two files in FM. Both have reference pages I want to use. Can I import a reference page from File A to File B without deleting the references pages in File B? Can I copy and paste selected reference items from File A into File B's reference page?
Hi, I just come to know that FrameMaker is bilingual. I was looking for this for a long time, But still, I do not know how to use it. Could you please guide me a bit about it? I want to translate my blog: [url removed] in French. Is it possible?
While typing content in FrameMaker XML View one needs to type in a slow pace, otherwise some characters won't be entered.
I would like to create multiple table of contents in one document. It would look something like the layout below. Each of the documents is a standalone FrameMaker file. Is this possible? I'm wracking my brain for ideas. Thank you!SalomeTABLE OF CONTENTSGroup 1 Program Document: AlligatorDocument: BearDocument: CamelDocument: DeerDocument: EagleGroup 2 ProgramDocument: FishDocument: GiraffeDocument: HippopotamusDocument: IguanaDocument: Jaguar

For our warnings, cautions, and notes, we use 3 graphics that are imported by reference throughout our help files. Is there any way to stop FM from creating a new file everytime it is referenced when publishing to HMTL5? This was a problem in FM2019 and still exists in FM2020. Just the notes are responsible for 235 graphics in the HTML output, from the single referenced original.
