Framemaker 2020: The chapter headings apprear correctly with numbers and heading texts in TOC (in FM). I printed the complete book to a pdf. The heading texts are shown correctly in the pdf bookmarks, but the bookmark heading numbers at header1 level are missing? Header2 level bookmark heading numbers are correctly shown in the pdf. I have not found the root cause in pdf printing settings. H1 and H2 have similar autonumbering settings in the FM paragraph designer. Does anyone know what might be wrong? This is my first pdf printing with the new FM2020. My ealier FM12 did not have this problem.
In FM 2020, my Book file's Generated TOC and IX files work fine, but clicking on links in the LOF displays OpenObjectID errors, and don't link to the figures in the Chapter files. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have two images. One for product=iMX350 and another for product=iMX950. My document is structured as follows: <figframe="all" product="iMX350"><title>Product Label</title><imagehref="../../../../iMX_Common/Installation_Guide/assets/iMX350%20Label%20Dual%20MAC.png"height="320.639pt" width="426.240pt" conkeyref="graphics/iMX350_label"/></fig><fig frame="all" product="iMX950"><title>Product Label</title><imagehref="../../../../iMX_Common/Installation_Guide/assets/iMX950%20Label%20Dual%20MAC.png"height="320.639pt" width="426.240pt" conkeyref="graphics/iMX950_label"/></fig> I have a dynamic filter set up on the product attribute. I am finding that only the figure text is being filterd. Despite being nested within the figure tag, both images are always displayed. Why is the filter not having any effect on the image content?
I recently installed the Adobe FrameMaker 2019 upgrade. When I used the Save as PDF option to output my book, the PDF created using Adobe Acrobat Pro had three instances in which the text was corrupt. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting. The FrameMaker file was absolutely fine. I deleted and retyped the text, without fixing the output problem. Finally, I noticed that all three instances of corrupt PDF output included a word with an apostrophe. I rewrote the text to remove the apostrophes and the PDF output without any problem. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do you think it is a FrameMaker issue or an Acrobat Pro issue, or a combination of both? I had used this unstructured FM file before, prior to upgrading to FM2019, without any output issue. I'm interested to hear your comments.
We have a large number of technical documents (manuals, mostly) that include short video tutorials in the digital editions of the FM-generated PDFs. For the past several years, we have used FM12 (and still do) to easily add these tutorials to the FM files. According to one expert, the problem is that FM12 uses a Flash standard to convert the videos for import into FM. As of this year, Flash is dead and none of our users are able to use the video tutorials in manuals created in the past, even though most use Windows media player or other common player, NOT Flash. This is a huge problem for our users. At this point, it appears that the only solution is to upgrade FM to the current version. I have no idea how FM now handles video content. But the bigger problem is how can we support our customers who have these older manuals (some created in just the past year) and need to use these tutorials. Are they left high and dry, too?
I have a separate cover page document in my book which has to change the cover image (which is an Illustrator image) based on a printout condition: "Brand A" or "Brand B". Some of the text (such as brand name strings) in the book will change based on conditions of "Brand A" and "Brand B" which is a very straightforward process but I couldn't find a way of binding the Illustrator image on the cover page to condition tags. The condition tag tool warns me about using text in text frames, anchored frames, table rows and columns. I don't want to use any of these elements on the cover page. The Illustrator images are already created based on my page size (A4 Letter) and all I want is to change the cover page image when creating the pdf output based on my selection of brands. How can I achieve this?

Hi,I recently upgraded from Adobe Framemaker 7.2 to 9.0 and love that section and sub-section numbering are now included. However, I have old book files where I am trying to change the number properties, but I notice that the Section and Sub-Section inputs are completely grayed out and uneditable. It is editable through the document itself, but when you update the book, it always defaults back to the book's numbering. Is there any way to make it so that I can edit the section number for the document (through the book)? Thanks.
Sparky Anderson alias Doug writes to me:I use your ETB ( love it! ) and wanted to point out a bug. When I right click and use the drop down menu to insert a non-breaking hyphen, it still breaks when I publish to HTML5. Maybe I'm doing something else wrong, but it looks like ETB doesn't use x2011 when it tries to insert a non-breaking hyphen.IMHO FM does not recognise \u2011 as a non-braking hyphen. MIF states: <ParaLine <String `Inserted by ESC,-, h (or ETB Insert Special Symbol): '> <Char HardHyphen> > # end of ParaLine <ParaLine <String `Inserted by Unicode: ‑'> > # end of ParaLine My editor tells that in the Unicode the character is U+2011IMHO this is a bug - and I guess the 'equal' treatment of \x15 and \u2011 was requested long time ago be others already. - although I can not find a corresponding entry in the bug base.In my experience \x15 is not a character but an FM function (see https://www.daube.ch/docu/files/com
When I try to highlight multiple pages in FrameMaker on Windows 10 (drag the mouse across multiple lines, across multiple pages) the software crashes. I'm trying to highlight bulk content to paste the content into another file, and the software constantly crashes and displays the following message:Adobe FrameMaker 2019 is not responding[Close the Program][Wait for program to respond]I can wait all day and night and it will not respond. Instead, I select Close the Program. Although the software generates recovery files and data is not usually lost (if I remembered to Save beforehand), I assume this is not by design. It has been happening for so long that I have learned to just select all or select small portions at a time. However, if it's been a while since I've performed this task, I usually forget to follow this work around and spend the rest of the day hating myself. Is there a projected date in which this known bug will be fixed???? I personally cannot wait for the day to come!Thank
I have a Heading4 with autonumbering. However, when I use a heading 1,2,3 and then use the heading 4, it does not reset. Heading1 starts with 1.0Heading2Heading3Heading4 say it increments to 1.1.1.10Heading1starts with 2.0Heading2Heading3Heading4 this shows up as 1.1.1.11 instead of 2.1.1.1
When you right click on an image in a FM file it allows you to edit the image inside of FM using Adobe products like Photoshop. Any way to add SnagIt Editor to that context menu?
I am running FrameMaker 2015 and cleaning up conditional tags. FrameMaker keeps closing on me when I am doing this. Any thoughts? And do I have to delete each tag individually in the book or can I do it globally in the files in the book? Thank you, This is the message I get when I do get one. Sometimes it just closes
I currently have a book file set up that contains a book file for each chapter, then document files for each section within the chapter. I have the pagination set so that the first file for each book starts on the Right page (double-sided, delete empty pages) and the following files use Next Available. However, when I generate my PDF, the chapters are starting on the next available page, rather than adding in a blank page where needed so that they always start on the right. Is there a setting in the main book that I'm missing to get this to happen? I have also tried setting the first file to Read from File, but that hasn't worked either.First file settings:
Hi all on a book, a marker (newlink TOC_list) has been created on the TOC file, and markers (gotolinkfitwin) has been added to each document, pointing to the TOC, for direct linking to the TOC on page of the PDF. the question is:has the TOC_filename may change, it is possible to add a variable that defines the name of TOC_filename on the "gotolinkfitwin", so is not need to change the marker TOC_filename, document by document, when it changes ?an inport formats\variable definitions routine is allready established to had "global variables", so that variable including the TOC_filename could be added/dessiminated there. many thanks
i need to install Frame 12 and i need to find the download but Adobe keeps taking me in a run around. Can someone give me a link to download FrameMaker 12. I have a serial number.
Revisiting a relatively old manual that covers a basic product plus two variants. (vanilla plus chocolate and mocha, as the BookMaster manual would put it) …Way back then, we decided to highlight the three classes with colours, a 'simple' matter of duplicating all the required styles. Now I've been looking at the document again, it seems it would have been more elegant to stick with a single set of styles and use conditions … but that approach, as far as I understand, wouldn't deliver the colours in the ToC.Any ideas for a workaround? it's not something I have to deliver, but I'm curious.
Hello. When I PDF - when I PDF an individual frame file the bookmarks work correctly. When I PDF the book file, the individual file that created the bookmarks correctly are now incorrect. For example, in individual file the subheadings appear but in the book PDF file, in that same chaper the subheadings do not appear. In the individual file, I did add the particular style to the PDF Set Up.
There are no changes in FM 2019 settings (configuration), just using default FM 2019 settings.FM 2019 version 15.0.6.956 When opening DITA Topic template and typing text in Korean, I cannot type Korean text properly and, Korean texts are changed to question marks abruptly. If you click the following link, you can see or download the video clip, which I recorded the happening.https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Csfs67O2I06HePcBGzLmJyaVIcTlJxs-/view?usp=sharing Please, help me.Thanks in advance.
In several topics I've defined some <indexterm> elements:<indexterm>LEV1 <indexterm>LEV2 <indexterm>LEV3</indexterm> </indexterm> </indexterm>After being published in ePub, the index looks something like this:LEV1 LEV1 LEV1 LEV1 LEV1 LEV2 LEV2 LEV2 LEV2 LEV2 LEV3a LEV3b …But it must be:LEV1 LEV2 LEV3a LEV3b … What's wrong?
Hi Community, According to Adobe FrameMaker Scripting Guide ( https://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/pdfs/framemaker_scripting.pdf ) the paramters of UpdateDITAReferences are docId, flag;The description of docId is not certain. I do not get errors when I use the Doc object in the place of docId, but I do not get external references updated as well. In order for this method to work for me (FM version: 15.0.4.751 ) the syntax was: UpdateDITAReferences(flag); I used the integer value of flag to get external references updated:oDoc.UpdateDITAReferences(0x02);
Greetings, We have spent a considerable amount of time, including calls to customer support, to try upgrading a subscription-based FM2019 to 2020, with no success. The last installation process returned the info that it was successful, but it's still FM2019. What is the standard procedure to upgrade a subsciption-based version of FM? Kind regards,Mats
Dear friends,Even if this project may be to ambitious for my knowledge I’m at least one step further than what I presented Barb Binder in November. The script is intended for the unstructured interface. Any structure related find or replace stuff is left out.FMfindRepl v0.6 finds everything which I can handle (see the second page of the documentation (aka help file). The script does not yet replace anything. I see many challenges ahead. Just look at the famous comment by Russ Ward in https://forums.adobe.com/thread/895626: now, lets jimmy the text range in memory to place it directly. While the script reacts on the change of the active document (Notify function) it does not find in books or a selection. The help file currently displays the pdf “Developer-log”. Later it will open the according web-page.The RegEx support is rudimentary. It opens a web page. The script has only an English interface, even if you run it in a French FrameMaker. This will change towards version 1.0, because this w
What does FrameMaker use to create this table of contents for the responsive html5 output?
When creating a book, I get an error message for one of the 14 files I am adding to the book. It reads: "Inconsistent Setting -- Print setting for color Black is inconsistent in Section 9 Program Center.fm The book may not print correctly." Any ideas?
