FrameMaker

Hello,My company has frame maker 11, but lately we purchased a few frame maker 12 licenses. My questions is: Can you install and use frame maker 11 with a frame maker 12 license? Thank you.

There are three products names (A,B,C).I have 3 guides with almost same topics and data in them. I want to maintain a single guide. In some places in the document, we have the product names mentioned. So, when publishing them, if I publish for product A, I want that name to appear in all the document occurrences.For example, for product A, I need to get at all the places A. For B, I want B.

Since the beginnings of FM the list of Graphic Frames in the Paragraph Designer is ordered in the sequence of appearance (or the creation?) on the reference pages. IMHO this is a bug and I filed it therefore.If the list becomes longer than just 5 items it becomes difficult to spot the right thing.IMHO this list should be orders the in the same manner as the lists in catalogues. Hence it also must observe the ini setting for SymbolSortingBeforeAlphaNumeric.

I have numerous files with contional text that appears if a certain condition is met.Now in FM12 (on Windows 7) when I open those files the text appear even if the condition is  not met. It disappears if I apply the conditions but it will reappear if I close the file and reopen it.Any ideas as to why this behaviour.I am moving those files from FM10 to FM12.ThanskPierre

FM-11 and FM-12: In the Object Properties there is no more a field Name. Hence a graphic frame on the reference pages can not be checked for its name or the name can not be edited.I have filed this as a bug.The dialogue in FM-12 and FM-11:In FM-10 there was the old dialogue still active which contained this information:

I have bought adobe photoshop cs6 middle east so that I can launch ps and edit my graphic from framemaker 12 (retail) as shown on AdobeTV.Unfortunately both "MainMenu\File\Launch Photoshop" and "MainMenu\Graphics\Edit with photoshop" menuitems are disabled.I have updated both software to the latest versions and still integeration not working

I have Adobe Tech Comm Suite 4. Cannot save FrameMaker 11 book as PDF. .I suspect that the problem has to do with the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On printer instance. If so, how to I install it. And why would it be missing. I installed FM 11, as well as Acrobat from Adobe Tech Comm Suite 4.thank you..

I cannot convert book to PDF - getting internal error. How do I fix this?

I changed the definition for the Heading 3 tag (so that list numbering would not restart at each heading). Then I saw that almost all the pages in my document had been assigned to a different master page. Thinking this was just a glitch, I went through and corrected all these assignment, only to discover that the corrected assignments had been lost and the pages were still wrong. The reference page that assigns master pages to paragraph tags has no line for Heading 3, and I don't see an option in the Paragraph Designer that governs this. Any idea why the change to the paragraph tag affected the master page assignment?

The document has many graphics imported as Referenced Files, but the Insets pod is blank. What's going on? Here's what I'm seeing:

Hi all,I just noticed when I double-click a topicref in a DITA map in FM12 then the referenced topic does not open any more. I checked the problem with several maps. Is this a bug/feature or do I need to activate this function somewhere in the options?Robert

Is there a limit to the number of chapter files that can go into a single FrameMaker book?I'm thinking that a few pages per chapter would work well when I export it to the web, but I'm wondering if 500 chapter files will choke book generation when I'm trying to make a PDF. Does anyone have experience with this? I've built large (1,000 pages) manuals before, but never broken them down into such small chapters. Advice appreciated.

Is there any way to create nice shadow for textframes?

I am using FM 11 and have a Acronym list in table format. The heading row should have a thin line on the outside and inside cells. My line between cells doesn't show. My repeat heading rows done have the bottom line (they do have the top and side lines. When I try to correct with the Table Designer or Custom rulling, it doesn't take the change. Some of my rows in the middle of a page have top and buttom lines which I am tryingn to clear. The custom ruling and shading changes don't make the change. How do I fix these issues? Thanks for your help.

The docs say IE 9 or greater, but our institution is many months away from upgrading away from IE8.  Given that Chrome is an alternative for us, it would be of enormous benefit if Server 12 were to run there as an interim fix for us.  Thanks.

Is it possible to write an extend script to apply a conditional tag  to all occurences of a pragraph tag in a document? Are there any samples of a script like this

After changing from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 I have problems generating pdf-files. I only get the tps-file. When the tps-file is made, the FM 11 do not answer any more. Do anybody have any suggestions?

Can I install FrameMaker 12 (retail) on both my home and my office personal computers?

Why does FrameMaker 11 claim that it cannot open a file due to missing fonts when in fact no fonts are missing? I have repaired this problem with numerous files, replacing the missing fonts, but Frame is proving recalcitrant with one file in particular.

Is Framemaker Publishing Server 12 the only option for publishing/managing tasks from the web, or is this possible via an API interface using any of the other products?

Hi all,is there a way to provide "content templates" for the autor, containing a certain base structure with which to continue his work? The goal is to provide a set of topic templates with different base structures, i.e. elements already inserted when creating a new topic. Technically these will all be DITA concepts. I want to avoid specialization (with different topic types defined in the structapps) just for this reason because the DTDs will all be identical. It is just meant as an assistance in every-day work.Do you know a script that could be used, or do you have any other suggestion?Robert

In FM12, I sometimes start a "Save as PDF" process, then realize I haven't done one tiny thing that needs doing. If this book is big (31 .fm files in my case with lots of drawings and pictures imported by reference) this can take a long time on my poor laptop. I would like to be able to say "Wait! Stop!" to the PDF-making process. Is there a way to do this short of closing FM? Steve
