Framemaker 10 daes not work any more, except if i modify date to 1/1/2006.Tell me what to do

In older versions of FrameMaker I used to be able to pre-tag a text/data file using @14963412 name=[paratext] at the beginning of a paragraph so that when the file was imported to a FrameMaker template, the specified tag would be applied automatically and I didn't have to apply the tags manually. This doesn't seem to work any more, but I can't believe this feature is no longer available. How do I do the same thing for FrameMaker 11 please?

We are currently using FrameMaker 10 and trying to tweak some configuration settings. 1. Is there any way to change the default location of the user version of maker.ini? On Windows 7 it defaults to C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\versionI'd like to be able to change this to a network location. I am trying to save a file in Adobe Framemaker 7.1. This file was created by one of our consultants. Unfortunately, we dont have anymore support from this consultant, so I am on my own. I get the following error when i try to save the file after making updates: Cannot lock file <abc.fm> for your use because you do not have write permission.Please let me know how to resolve this problem.

I have two problems related to tables using Structured FrameMaker (Version 10), whilst in-processing XML.I've designed two different table formats in my Template; Format A with black shading - 30% for THead and 3% for row, and Format B with blue shading - 30% for THead and 3% for row.If I create a structured document from scratch and insert a table, I get the required Black (30%) and Black (3%) shading.   If I then insert an informaltable, I get the required Blue (30%) and Blue (3%) shading.Although I've given the two table types different default formats in the EDD - Format A for table and Format B for informaltable - when I open the XML file (normally) from within FrameMaker I notice that all the tables default to Format A (black shading).   When I then import my EDD table should stay as Format A and informaltable should change to Format I.   This doesn't happen; they all stay at Format A. I am using Microtype's TimeSavers and SP Form assistant to create forms and calculators in my FrameMaker documents. Is there a way to add an extendscript that will reset/clear the fields when the PDF is opened each time? It is going to be part of a book PDF on a server, so it's going to be accessed by many people. I need any fields to be cleared/reset on open so that each time it will be cleared for the person opening the PDF.Thanks, Gary

How do I set up two separate text frames side-by-side as two columns, and create a separate table of contents for each?I need to create a two-language document with English on the left and a translated language on the right. Each language will also have separate illustrations and cross references to them in the text. Basically, I need to create two manuals in a single document.I'm doing this with Frame 7.1 if that makes any difference.Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I need to generate a standard index list (*.six) file as part of a book compilation. The problem is, the marker or index entries must be provided from a separat list of suggest words not by elements or non structed index markers! Our book is to big for searching all relavants words in so many files 🙂If there any possibility to use a "list" of words and tell FM11 that there have to search this words in all book documents and create a index list like *.six?Thanks....

The Adobe help documentation says to "1. Select DITA > DITA Options, and choose Wrap New Topics In Dita Element." (under Home / Using FrameMaker 11 / Structured Authoring Using DITA > create a DITA topic) but the wrap option is not listed in my FrameMaker 11 DITA Options windows.  Is the wrap instruction left over from a previous FM version?

HiUnder installation of Framemaker version 9 I get following error "Failed to load configuration file: BootstrapperConfig.xmlI can find other on internet forums that have the same problem on Vista, but no answers. this is on "Citrix: XenApp 5.0 HRP04, x64" and" Citrix: XenApp 5.0 HRP04, x64". I do not have the problem when installing on windows XP. The BootstrapperConfig.xml file is there and looks the same as on XP. Is there a way in FM 8 (or via plugin) to batch export BOOKS to PDF? I have some technical manuals that take about half an hour each to export, so it's quite a pain to create them on demand. Thanks!

HI,I want to update TOC, and i am unable to do it as .eps files are followed by main TOC.if the TOC is already created - which file to be added to pragraph tag in add table of content dailogue box. How to recongize which paragph tags were previously tagged in TOC. Now if i click add TOC> there is nothing on the left side of TOC but create hypertext linkz is checked, still TOC is not working. When i press ALT+Ctrl click on the topic , no finger pointer appears.. please provide me a solution for this.Thanks,

Help!  We lost our frame expert. We use dingbats font in our frame templates for a variety of symbols, design elements as well as text elements.  On win 7, we get a missing font error.  I purchased ITC dingbats and installed on win 7, but still getting a missing font error.I think I have to edit the maker.ini file but not sure where or what I need to add.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I've read that IBM Task Modeler can be used to great advantage to streamline dita content.  Can the maps created using this tool be imported directly into Structured FM 11, thereby saving lots of re-typing?[Thread moved by moderator]

After changing text in the "title" of several concept files and task files, the titles did not update in the ditamap.  I tried the process described in this AdobeTV video for updating navtitles (selecting the topicref in the Document View and then switching back to the Resource Manager) but nothing happened:http://tv.adobe.com/watch/framemaker-for-word/framemaker-for-word-updating-a-ditamap-navtitle/   I've tried saving and closing and reopening all the files, but the navtitles only change in the individual files, not in the ditamap.  I'm learning how to work with ditamaps in Structured FrameMaker 11.0.2.384.   I used "DITA > New DITA File" to create some dummy topic, task, and concept files, and a ditamap file.In "DITA > DITA Options" I tried both checking and unchecking "Always Update Navtitle While Updating TopicRef"

I am on Windows 7 Pro, I have TCS 3.5 and using Frame Maker 10. I cannot print a PDF file of a FM book - some of the fonts (especially in titles) are garbled. I was told to install a Post Script printer.  I downloaded the Adobe universal PS print driver.  When I try to print to the PS printer, it is not a selection in FM.  Now what?

Hi,Seems that answers to complicated questions are a bit sparse in these parts, but I'll try again anyway I'm wondering if there is any technique to reliably undo a character format application change; that is, an application of properties to a range of text with SetTextProps(). It is fairly simple to remember a list of original properties (PropVals) and the original text range (TextRange), then reapply those original properties to the whole range. However, within a text range, each character can have its own unique set of properties. So, remembering one set of original properties is not enough... seems I have to remember the properties of every single character in the range, the reapply character-by-character, in order to ensure that the new property application is completely undone.When you apply a character format in the GUI, FM reliably allows an undo, restoring each affected character to its original state. Surely it isn't remembering a PropVals array for every single character (?

I need now to change that color, but can't find where to do this.I go to the Master Page, click on the header, go to the Paragraph Designer > Advanced tab, and in the Frame Below Pgf List I have a 1 pt line selected. Hi,I am working with adobe framemaker 9. The problem I am facing is that, after generating the TOC some links are working fine but few other links are making me navigate to wrong pages in the generated PDF. However, when I cross checked it with the TOC FM file by CTRL+ALT the links map correctly. Is it the framemaker issue or something is wrong with the PDF printer settings? Please find below snapshot of the PDF, just after clicking on a particular topic it shows a black box and takes me to the wrong page. Any help with this is appreciated...Thanks,Heena
