FrameMaker

Hello,I am using FM 2020 version 16.0.4.1062 and have created a PDF of my non-structured document. When I went to the TOC to test the links, all of them work except for one.  I don't know where to look to find information about the issue or how to fix the issue.  Please help.   Thank you. I am inserting a check mark character found in the Arial script in an unordered list in order to generate an HTML5 version of my document. While the character works great in the normal textflow, it won't show up properly in the list, where I have put it into the numbering field. Same character but for some reason FrameMaker seems to treat it differently. Can't figure out what is happening in the conversion process, that causes this  

How it works with dita and dita map files in framemaker?, dita map includes multible dita files, when published as pdf, each dita topic will start from new page?

The majority of the FM 2019 documents I work in use 2 particular Type 1 fonts...!! Thankfully, it looks like I can 'simply'(lol) purchase the OpenType versions of these fonts and replace the Type 1 fonts...has anyone had to do this w/ LOTS of documents?? Is this an extremely painful process? Do the OpenType fonts match up exactly when replacing Type 1 versions? FYI, I haven't begun this process yet, but I'm about to dive in...any assistance/suggestions would be appreciated...Cheers!!

Hello, I have noticed inconsistencies in the information (messages) about missing fonts between Console view and Fonts pod.Sometimes console has more items with missing fonts. I have even tried to find them according to names in console, but without a success (I have searched through application and through MIF).What can be the cause of that? What is the difference between these two functions? Is console information more accurate or perhaps it shows false positive occurrencies (but if so, why)?Files I work with sometimes had been converted in the past, some contain XML structure.I have workaround solution to get rid off the messages (unchecking Remember missing fonts function), but I would like to understand the logic of mentioned functions.Could you please help with this?Thank you in advance 🙂

Hi all, Adobe have made available updated PDFs for the 2022 FDK with the links in this bug report FRMAKER-9169 | Tracker (adobe.com). I have downloaded all of them, and reassuringly they all have a September 2022 date. As well the FDK Progammers Guide now has Visual Studio 2022, rather than the FDK downloaded version which refers to 2017. disappointingly the FDK ZIP has not been updated as yet, with the PDFs undated and the aforementioned reference to Visual Studio 2017. Jon

I am inserting a whole lot of footnotes in my text and was expecting to have active links from the reference numbers to the footnotes when I published as pdf. But that is not happening? What may I be overlooking here? I feel pretty convinced that this used to work. But now I have tried in both 2022 and 2020, and... no hyperlinks! I am using tagged  pdf and distiller.... shouldn't this work?

I don't mean dragging and dropping all the document icons into the book side panel, I know that method.I mean if I have all the documents open that I want in a book, when I create a book FM asks me if I want to add the currently selected document to the book... but there doesn't seem to be an option like "add all open documents to book" or something like that. Am I missing something, or is that just not a thing at all? Also, I have several documents in a book which currently shows a path through several directories so I can't see the document name without scrolling to the right. Is it possible to change some kind of view setting so I just see the document name and not the path?

Hi-Team, I have a large number of Structured FrameMaker files to be edited and combined as a single manual for publishing. So, how can i go further to complete the process?

I'm publishing Responsive HTML5 from FM2020. I'm using the azure_blue style, but I don't see any way to turn the print function on and off like you can the glossary, etc. Can anyone help?   

I have an issue while converting .fm files to pdf dome of my fonts are crashed. How can I solve it?

I am a Framemaker book developer. I have a customer that wants to convert his book from Word to FrameMaker and export to Amazon Mobi format. My understanding it that Fthe rameMaker book can convert to RoboHelp and RoboHelp can covert the book to Kindle (Mobi) ebook. I have no experience with RoboHelp, so my question is whether there are explicit instructions to do the conversion from FrameMaker to RoboHelp ebook, OR what it might generally cost me to do the RoboHelp Kindle ebook coversion of the FrameMaker book. The book is about 250 pages and five chapters. Thanks!

I have a two column FM2022 document with a lot of footnotes. About 10 footnotes on every single page. I would like to have the footnotes column balance, making them the same height across the two colums. But can it be done?I do think the footnotes behave rather oddly. When I add text to the page so the footnote reference moves to the next page, this is what happens. Suddenly the footnotes are floating on the middle of the page.   

We just upgrade to FrameMaker 22 version 17.0.0.226. The locked files are not deleting when we close our files. They don't go away so the files don't open. We have had to restart our machines to several time and then they sometimes go away? Is anyboby having this issue and is there a fix for it? 

Hi all,I'm looking for a solution for the following problem: I need a smart table that calculates certain values. The result value is supposed to get referenced in several  FM files. When the values in the native smart table get modified the referenced value is supposed to change automatically to the new value. I tried to insert an Excel table to FM but I have problems referencing one single cell as well as to keep it updated. in specific I managed to reference one cell, but it doesn't look very nice plus the value of the cell always stays the same, no matter how many modification are done in the native Excel table.I'm interested in a solution for both DITA and unstructured FM. Since in DITA the same problem occurs because I'm not able to reference one single cell with conref. Is there maybe another way to make this working? Also Smart Paste is not working well in this situation.Thank you in advance for your help!Kind regards,Amy

As I recall, this is something that has to be fixed on the backend, so if someone could, please?  

I am generating a PDF using Print Book.Pagination is set to...Double Sided1st Page Side: RightThe first page should be the cover, so when it's flipped, the next page should be on the left.In the PDF, the first page is on the left, which throws off the formatting of the subsequent pages.

I've created a PDF using AEM Guides (via DITA-OT 1.23). The PDF contains several ohm symbols. When viewed in the PDF in a browser (selecting the PDF from the Generated Output area in AEM), the symbol appears correctly. When I download the PDF to my local system and view it in Acrobat DC or Reader, the ohm symbol disappears (blank space instead). Any help/tips is greatly appreciated!

I am opening some older FM documents I am working on for a client. I get the below error message when opening the documents in FrameMaker 2022..... Hello all,I have generated HTML5 output from Framemaker 2020 and had relatively good success with the styles translating correctly. However, bulleted and numbered lists are not indenting correctly...with the first line extending farther to the right than subsequent wrapped lines. I've tried manipulating the styles using the built-in style editor...but apparently whatever I'm doing is not making a bit of difference. Has anyone worked through this and have any advice or fixes?  In sample HTML5 output below, bulleted list and numbered list wrap issue is displayed. I'm not sure what the 3 dots after the bullet are either.    

Hi there, we have been trying to find solutions to this issue for some time to no avail, thought I'd post here in case others have had similar experiences. Thanks in advance for any insight or things to try!Issue Description:FrameMaker is not responsive for ~20 seconds when switching between tabs within a book. This happens on the first load of a .fm file, as well as every time we switch between another file and back again. It is very disruptive with our workflow, especially when working on multiple or complex books in parallel. This occurs to both technical writers in our department. My colleague has been experiencing this for some time, I experience the exact same issue with a brand new computer and fresh install of FrameMaker.Troubleshooting Steps Taken:Updating Frame (the issue occurred on FrameMaker 2019 as well as 2020)Disabling graphicsUpdating .EPS files in the book to use PostScript3 and no thumbnails Issue persists despite steps taken.FrameMaker Information:Adobe FrameMa

To save a .Book as a pdf. This has worked flawlely for four years, however, something changed yesterday.I go to File > Publish and the window in blank. Settings File: Default.sts is missing. 

Running new install of FMv16 on Win 10 (Just now upgrading from FMv12). Upon File>Open, when .fm doc has .cgm (Import by Reference), we get error about not being able to initialize isoconverter.dll (see screenie below). The dll is not included in the FMv16 installation but the call for it IS in maker.ini - but is commented out. We have hundreds of .cgm's we need to use (or, maybe convert to . . . . say . . . . pdf), but if we can still use .cgm's that would be preferrable. Any help, please? Regards,  Dave  

Hello! I'm pretty familiar with Adobe's search options, including searching for a specific character format, searching for a specific string, or searching for a string + copied character formats, but is there any way to search for a specific string while specifying a single character format? For example, I'm trying to capture all instances of the word "analyze" that appear in Roman type so that I can conver them to italics. I can search for "analyz*" using a wildcard search or "\banalyz*\b" using a regexp search, but I can't specify the character style (Roman type) this way. If I copy "analyz" and search for text and character formats on clipboard, it won't capture variations in, for example, font size. Is there a way to do what I want to do that I'm just not seeing? I was hoping at first that there might be a regexp flag for this, but I can't find anything online... Thanks!Matt
