FrameMaker

Beim Starten von FrameMaker 2017 erscheint der normale Begrüßungsbildschirm nur kurz und wird dann durch die Anzeige der (ich glaube) Marketingpage vollständig überdeckt. Wie kann ich diese ausschalten oder wenigstens wieder kleiner darstellen? Den Tipp die HTML-Code zu modifizieren habe ich schon getestet. Startet man die modifizierte Seite direkt von der HTML-Datzei aus, dann ist das auch in Ordnung. Startet man aber den FrameMaker, dann ist die ungewollte Seite wieder da. ich weiß nicht weiter.

i newly started using framemaker 2020 on windows after working with an old framemaker version on solaris so far.i'm actually drawing my first picture in an anchored frame of an fm2020 document which starts as a nightmare:whenever adding or moving a line, or copying a group of lines or text, this is either not shown at all after drawing or  pasting, or shown in a wrong position, or complete nonsense is shown. so i always need to change zoom level to see the actual drawing, i.e. to update the display.i don't think that this is expected to be like that. is there a bug in the actual version of fm2020 or do i need to add or change some configuration?see examples attached.

I have tried publishing a book to Responsive HTML5, and each time I get the "serious internal error" message. I am using an .sts file that we used in FM2015, but I clicked yes when FM 2020 asked about updating it. Has anyone else experienced this?

When I perform a search in the HTML5 output, results that point to the top-level topics display the filename and path rather than the topic name. Other search results (for secondary topics) display the topic title just fine. I am publishing HTML5 output from FrameMaker 2015.

I have had to resolve a problem with a document that would cause FramerMaker to crash when either the book was updated or validated.The document was originally in 2019 MIF format with a .fm extension. The evidence of the corruption was visible after the following steps:Opening document in 2019 MIF format and save as a 2019 document.Close the document and re-open, and then save in 2019 MIF format. 2019 with update 8 crashed with a 15084 error, while 2020 (2020 MIF format) with update 1 crashed with a 16014 error.Deleting the content of the document, but not any master pages, made no difference.The only wrinkle was that, when the document was not closed after it was saved in 2019 document format, FrameMaker would not crash, when the document was subsequently saved in MIF format. The resolution in this case was to start with an empty template, copy the content across from the mif, set any variables, and replace the document. This new document could then be saved in 2019 MIF format wi

Hi,    I am trying to use the Frame Below Pgf function to add a border line beneath a header. I'm using a custom template provided to me by another writer on my team. I don't see an option for Single Line. In a blank FrameMaker document I do see that option.    Any suggestions?  Thanks     

Hi,I have FM 12.0.3.424.Does anyone know how to create a horizontal line under heading text that is the width of the page?  Similar to creating a border but without the top and sides.Is it even possible?thank you in advance!

I am developing a program that links FrameMaker using FDK.The DLL file is being created.When connecting FrameMaker 2020, the button turns black as shown in the figure.Please tell me the cause.

I receive documents made from framemaker 16 and saved as .fm when I go to open them on mine with version 11 it tells me ...appears to be a Framemaker document, it can't be opened with this release of product... is there a way to open such document without telling the person to safe it as .MIF Your help is very appreciated.

If there is a file open, you can open another "corrupted" file by using Heroic open (ESC o H). I have discovered a very very useful function of this command: open a file which is to high a level for the current FM.I currently have severe problems with FM-16.0.0.754: as soon as the file explorer becomes involved, FM quits without further notice (no message, no dump, no sound, no grunt…). See bug FRMAKER-9277.Hence I could not save my work done in FM-16 to the lower level to continue with FM-15.But then...I opened the FM-16 file in my text editor and changed the <MakerFile 16.0> at the very beginning of the file to <MakerFile 15.0>. Of course this violates the checksum - hence the file is considered corrupted.But alas; it can be opened in FM-15 with Heroic Open!Good save the Queen! - or better: the programmer who had programmed this feature!

Good morning I am trying to update my installation of FrameMaker 2017 with the Adobe Application Manager via the Help > Updates menu. The update begins at proceeds to around 10% at which point I get the "Update Failed" message. The link to the log file comes up with the "This site can’t be reached" message. I am running Windows 11 Pro (64-bit) version 21H2. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Could pls help me to get the information on whether we can convert or import Madcap files to Framemaker? if yes how?We have FM2010 and 2015 versions Our existing project's source files are in Madcap flare, wanted to move to Framemaker 

There should be a way, by checkbox or something, to have "Running header from last on previous page if widow."

Has anyone added a bug to the FrameMaker tracker about how decimal tabs don't work correctly in tables? I wasn't able to find one when I searched, and if no one has I will add it. It's very annoying that decimal tabs align  just fine in regular text but do not in tables.

We have a query about Adobe FrameMaker 11. When we create a document and we do save as, it creates an automatically backup too. Till here is everything fine. However as regards the backup document we have noticed that the time indicated on the backup document is earlier than the time of the actual document. We noticed that the time elapsing between the time in the backup and the actual document is not always the same that is sometimes there is a discrepancy of 1min or 2min or even 5mins.Is there an explanation why the backup document has an earlier time than the actual document from a technical point of view please?

How do I address 'ID already used' error messages in my SGML report?

I am a former Framemaker user who just came across a 15-year-old directory of 20 or so short .fm files. Is there any way to convert these to text, Word, or PDF (online or on a Mac) without having to buy a product. Loss of formatting is not an issue. I just want to "reclaim" the text.

Is there a cost to upgrade v15 (licensed) to Frammaker 2020?

We currently have a 2-cell table where we need to adjust the width of the second column and change the background colour. We have updated the table style to reflect this and anytime the table is now added to a document, the table is inserted with the new properties/formatting. However, any existing instances of the same table style already used in the document is not updating to the new style properties. Is there a way to update the existing instances without having to manually apply the changes to the existing instances?

I am using the current subscription version of FrameMaker. I have a book consisting of approximately 30 files created with unstructured FM, and the output and subsequent PDF looks fine. I was asked to provide Word versions of the book, so had to go through the labor-intensive process of converting each file separately to RTF and then Word. At a glance, the files looked fine. It was later discovered that in several random spots in the RTF output, whole paragraphs from the FM file were omitted and replaced with duplicates of previous paragraphs. Most of these duplicates were two or three paragraphs previous. I can't find any common factors where this occurred -- one instance has a table nearby, one instance has an image nearby, another instance has nothing but paragraphs of text. This is so weird. I tried regenerating the RTF and it happened again so I have no idea how to solve this. There is no error message or indication anything has gone wrong. Has anyone seen anything similar in Fram

In our documents (structured), we use a Table Element (Notes) to insert notes. We've now decided to change the formatting of the notes, adding a line above and below the table. To achieve this, we've created a new Element (Remarks), which automatically inserts the LineBeforeNote, Notes and LineAfterNote Elements. When inserting the Remarks Element manually, we get the results we're after. As you can image, we have several of these historical Notes that we need to convert to the new structure. I know we can use a Conversion Table to wrap the existing Notes Element in a Remarks Element. However, doing this results in the LineBeforeNote and LineAfterNote Elements missing. Is there a way to insert these as part of the Conversion, or do we have to go through all our documents and manually add the two additional elements? We are not using XML or DITA - just Structured FM with an EDD.

Hi All. Using FM 16.0.4 on Windows with a customised Responsive HTML settings file. I'm re-using topics across multiple books which is causing issues with cross references when publishing each book. If I have a cross reference from one topic A to another topic B, but then use topic A (but not B) in another book then I'd prefer to have the cross reference convert to simple text rather than a broken hyperlink in HTML. Currently thinking of using conditional markers to have alternative links, but wondering if there's a more automated way of converting the cross reference to text when publising to HTML. Help, input, discussion, much appreciated 🙂
