My other thread was locked.   The source file creator of my novel (and life's work) has ghosted me, but I do have the source file.  Problem is, I don't know how to use Adobe, and importing/exporting it just creates a huge mess.  The fonts change, the designs disappear and the occasional intentional spacing between paragraphs has large "F" in their place.   My question is, I have consulted an Adobe expert who claims to be able to see it as it is in print.  This contradicts some comments in my previous thread that only the creator will have access to certain this.  The instructor also claims to be able to teach me everything I need to know in 40 mins.    Can someone advise me here?      <Title renamed by MOD>

I have a four chapter book (about 80 pages) and every time I try to sync styles InDesign crashes. It worked fine yesterday, but today I made some changes and now every time I click the sync button in the book menu (Synchronize styles and swatches with the Style Source); instant crash. I've tried with all the chapters open and saved, only the style source open, restarted, deleted and re-added the chapters, etc. Thoughts?

I have remapped keyboard shortcut Shift+E for Link-Edit original, which shortcut is originally for View-GPU Preview.Then I save my new shortcut set.But after closing and opening Indesign, original shortcut is reset and my saved set doesn't work anymore until I remap and save it again.IND 20.4.1 x64, Win 11

Hi everyone,   I’m working on a cookbook in InDesign and I’m running into a strange issue with my automatically generated table of contents. Everything works fine until the last section: the TOC simply doesn’t display the last few entries, even though they use the same paragraph styles as the others. I double-checked:   The TOC frame is large enough (no red overflow indicator). I’ve updated the TOC multiple times. All relevant paragraph styles are properly included in the TOC setup. The missing titles are styled identically to the ones that do appear.   Even more confusing: if I reorder the pages in my document, the problem remains — the last few pages are still omitted from the TOC as you can see in the picture   I also noticed that in the TOC frame, one of the last entries looks squashed or overlapping with the next line, which makes me think InDesign is trying to force content into the frame even though it can’t fit it properly.   I tried enlarging

HelloI am trying to work with a printer. Every time I send him files with Gotham they do not show up on his end. My pdfs contain all the fonts when exported. Once he opens them some are not there.  What is happning how do I fix

Hi AllI have what appears to be a perfectly valid Word doc with footnotes on board (about 240 of them).When I try to import it into InDesign, even though both the footnote and endnote import options are checked, the Word document imports with no sign of the footnotes at all (ie: neither the in-body marker, or the both itself).I've gone back to the Word doc and tried converting all the footnotes to endnotes and importing that. Same issue.And yet other Word docs I've received have imported without issues for either footnotes or endnotes.Any suggestions?VBWMark

Summary:InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Hi everyone, I’m working on a book in InDesign and running into a problem with my Table of Contents (TOC). Each recipe page has a title that uses a consistent paragraph style (e.g., “TitleStyle”). However, inside some of these titles, I’ve manually changed the font size of certain words or segments for visual reasons—without changing the paragraph style itself. Now, when I generate the TOC using that paragraph style, the titles where I changed part of the font size manually do not show up as they should but instead keep that manually changed font.  I’ve already: Confirmed that all the titles have the correct paragraph style appliedTried manually changing the font size on the recipes or used a character style on the paragraph styleMade sure the TOC includes that paragraph styleTried checking/unchecking “Include Style Overrides” in the TOC optionsEnsured the TOC text box is large enough and the TOC is up to dateExport, save, change and all...  But

I was originally involved in a discussion about a poster with ID 2025 being too slow, and now it pops up every day.I seem to have clicked on Unfolow, but it doesn't seem to work.

I am working on a book where I use these quotation marks for opening and closing  quotations.If the same line has one quote only it works perectly, but if the same line has two words  with the quotations they the ones on the edges looks fine, but the ones in the center are flipped (see the attached screenshot). I tired copy and paste, I also tried to insert them as Glphs but the same result. By the way if I opened the same book in older InDesign like 2022 it opens correctly, while on InDesgin 2024 and 2025 they bahave like this.

Hi there,My Indesign's Control Panel used to show paragraph border and paragraph shading in the topright. Which was very convenient for fast access.Since last week i lost these options? Anyone know how i can get these back up there? I know these options differ a bit when you use different screen sizes, but these are unchanged.  Regards, Ed'

Why is the same exact style (I even imported the stlye from the one that's right) looking differently on all of  these documents?see video for claritythe first one shown is correct, the way I want it to appear.

Hi, I am trying to find a way to data merge images (primarily icons) into Indesign templates from our  Brandfolder (Digital Asset Management library) from a .csv spreadsheet. We use CI HUB as the connector between Brandfolder and Indesign, so I would presume that CI HUB holds the solution, but have not been able to figure it out? We can store the images on the local drive and the link work,s but I need to find away to get the .csv to draw from Brandfolder and place into Indesign Templates? Any ideas?

Hi,  I downloaded a font online and created a few paragraph styles for my document. Everything was fine originally when I had placed placeholder text, now I am trying to add the words in now and everytime I try to add an S the letter does not appear and instantly turns the paragraph into the heading.  I've tried looking at GREP, Nested, I can't override the paragraph styles. I am under a strong deadline; could anyone please offer any advice? 

Hi, I have just received my paperback print proof from Amazon/KDP for my first book that I designed in InDesign. I followed their online specifications for a book of my size and page numbers, including margins. Unfortunately, with the proof copy they’ve sent me in the mail, it's very hard to read the text on the inside pages next to the spine as the margin isn’t big enough.  Also, the outside margin looks unprofessionally small. When I designed my book, it started out as 6 x9 inches with 144 pages. I set the top and bottom margins to 0.5 inches. Then I set the other margins as per KDP's online guide (screenshot below): inside 0.375 inches and outside 0.25  inches. There’s no bleed as my content doesn’t extend over the margins. I don’t have columns. When KDP online wouldn’t accept the book when I uploaded it, I spoke to a KDP agent in chat and he told me to increase the book size to 6.13 x 9.25 inches and to leave the margins as I had them. Hello! I am trying to paste text from a Photoshop document into InDesign, but it isn't keeping the formatting. I made sure the Clipboard handling "All Information" is checked. I've tried pasting without formatting, etc. but nothing is working. I am attaching a sample bit of text with how it's supposed to look vs how it is pasting into InDesign. I can PM you a page of the document if needed. Font is Acumin Pro Condensed - 8pt and 9pt leading. The "Class Name" is bold font with the 1st and 2nd place text lines in regular font. No Spacing. There has to be an easier way to do this without having to manually reformat 50 pages. I hope someone can help! I don't know alot about formatting from one to another.

Hi, have been trying to apply photoshop clipping path to images via scripting. But after long process of trial and error finally got to conclusion that ClippingPathTypes:PHOTOSHOP_PATH is not getting recognised. So made a script to see what all are supported, attached screenshot looks like only ALPHA_CHANNEL, NONE and DETECT_EDGES are getting recognised. When i try PHOTOSHOP_PATH, its throwing invalid parameter.Is this an indesign restriction or bug? any way to solve it?Appreciate the help if anyone can. Thanks!
