Hi there, I am not sure if this is an exporting option, but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I keep having a problem when I export a PDF (interactive or print), the fonts appear bolder than they actually are. I am using an open-source font (Barlow) and have tried to adjust export settings to embed the fonts in the file, but that doesn't help. I'm photos that show the issue. I want to be able to put PDFs online without it appearing this way but I can't figure out how.
Suddenly I'm getting this annoying blue underline that won't let me type unless I hit the keyboard like 3 times...Please help me make it stop 🙂thx
I've been working on a script to loop through all the images in a document and set their alt text. The issue I'm running into is that even though the custom alt text is being applied, the "Object Export Options" for those images aren't being set to "Custom." As a result, when I export to PDF, the alt text doesn't appear unless I manually go in and set each image’s export option to "Custom."I'm looking for a way to programmatically set both the custom alt text and ensure that the "Alt Text Source" in the Object Export Options is set to "Custom," so the PDF export includes the alt text correctly. Also if I check decorative I need that to display properly in the Object Export Options as well. and that isnt happening.Any help would be greatly appreciated! My current code is below: // Image Alt Text Assistant // This script loops through all images in the InDesign document and // prompts the user to add alt text or mark images as decorative // Main function function main() { if (ap
Hi all, just updated to Sequoia 15.4.1 today and, all of a sudden, dealing with any indesign file of any size whatsoever has become extremely slow. Even with files I was using just yesterday that were operating at full speed without any issues.Opening and saving files takes absolutely forever, and often they just cause indesign to go not responsive with the spinning ball. For example, opening a file of 18mb takes over ten minutes. Tried the same files on an older machine with older indesign and they were quick again. Most recent version of indesign 20.3. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks! 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8 GBIntel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB64 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Hello,I have a book formatted in InDesign. The index was created and sent to me in a .txt file. I have now had to add two pages, so all the index entries need to be advanced by two. Is there a script that can perform this task? Perhaps this could be done in the .txt file, but I could put it inDesign and work from there. Thanks,Tom
Hi everyone,I'm designing a magazine in InDesign and also creating the adverts that will appear in it. Since I'm handling both the ad creation and the magazine layout, I'm wondering what the best approach is for saving and placing the adverts into the main magazine InDesign document. Normally, I’d export ads as print-ready PDFs to send to a publisher, but since I am the publisher in this case, I’m unsure whether that’s still the best approach. Right now I’m considering three options:Place the original InDesign ad files into the magazine file (File > Place)Copy and paste the original ad content directly into the magazine file (keeping it editable)Export each ad as a print-ready PDF and place those into the magazine fileThe printer provided a custom PDF preset for the final magazine, which I would also use for any ad PDFs if I go that route. Also:Should I convert all text in the ads to outlines before placing them in the magazine? (I’d keep the original files too.)Any r

I am having problems with InDesign 2025 image display. I have inserted some jpegs and have the Display Performance High Quality Display selected. I have copied and pasted the exact same jpegs into 2024 InDesign and they display perfectly. I have exported the doc and in pdf form the images are fine. What can I do? Can anyone help please?
The following indesign script searches full-width alphabets and numerals and converts them to half-width, but is way too low. Any suggestions for performance improvement?(function () {if (!app.documents.length) {alert("No document is open.");return;}app.doScript(main, ScriptLanguage.JAVASCRIPT, undefined, UndoModes.ENTIRE_SCRIPT, "Convert Full-width Alphanumeric Characters");function main() {// Settings dialogvar dialog = app.dialogs.add({ name: "Convert Full-width Alphanumerics to Half-width" });with (dialog.dialogColumns.add()) {staticTexts.add({ staticLabel: "Please select the type of characters to convert:" });var typeGroup = radiobuttonGroups.add();with (typeGroup) {radiobuttonControls.add({ staticLabel: "Alphabet only"});radiobuttonControls.add({ staticLabel: "Numbers only" });radiobuttonControls.add({ staticLabel: "Both alphabets and numbers", checkedState: true });}with(dialogRows.add()) staticTexts.add({ staticLabel: "" });with(dialogRows.add()) staticTexts.add({ staticLabel:

Bonjour, comment supprimer les tâche en arrière plan d'activation des polices ? Depuis plusieurs jours ça mouline sans résultats et je veux déactiver cette fonction. Comment faire car je suis bloqué et ne peux générer mes PDF qui restent bloqués derriere l'activation des polices. Merci.
In our newsletter we often run tables, and the formatting is the same; only the data itself is changed. I copied a table from a past issue and pasted into the current one, and many of the cells in the new document have red ovals in them. No red ovals in the source table. Both documents have identical style sheets. I loaded the older's style sheets just to make sure..no change. What accounts for this? Is there something in my copy / paste method that changed some cells? Thank you in advance

Hi, i'm using the latest version of Indesign: And now it seems that the same images that are used throughout the document are no longer grouped in the links panel. Reveal in explorer: Same image, same location. Why?

When exporting an INDD file that contains custom master pages to IDML format, the names of the some master pages are automatically changed or replaced during the conversion process. This causes inconsistencies when reopening the IDML file, especially when working across teams or different versions of InDesign.Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known workaround or fix to preserve the original master page names during IDML export? In the attached files it changed from B-Col one-Rest-Odd to C-Col one-Rest-Odd, basically its prefix got changed.
I have created a document in InDesign with paragraph styles. One paragraph format is for the listings. For the bullet points, I have created a separate font so that a tick symbol is used as a bullet point. I use Open Sans for the font behind it.If I now want to export the document as PDF X4 for the usual online printers, I get the error message “Text in this document contains one or more missing glyphs. ...”. The missing glyphs are the bullet points, which are created using a custom font.Unfortunately, I am not making any progress and do not know how to solve the problem. Does anyone know a solution so that I can export the PDF without an error message and use my own bullet points?I am using InDesign 2024 (20.0.1 x64)When I export the document as PDF X3, the error message does not appear. Thanks and regards
I exported two pdfs from indesign and it looked good, no errors or warnings. I opened it in microsoft edge and it looked good to.I opened it in Adobe Acrobat and I got an error warning box: an error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem. The preview on acrobat, though, still looked good. The issue was that when I printed it (professionally) on one pdf a bunch of right side pages were completely blank and white and the other pdf only 4 pages of 16 printed.I really need this file, any assistance will be really appreciated.
As for MathML, it would be interesting if it were like the MT-Script pluging created by a Russian. This new MathML tool is not effective for those who work with math materials. Because we imported the word file, which already has the mathematical formulas. The fact of creating an html is not practical, nor agile.MT-Script is wonderful, it needs MathType. We were able to configure all the equations in Word, using MathType's job options, and then we exported them. In indd, using the MT-Script script, we were able to work directly in indesign. It can be used with all versions of InDesign. The Adobe team could create a plugin that could be so effective.

Hi! I'm working in an InDesign file where some illustrations are imported from an Illustrator file. This file is linked in the links tab. For some weird reason, the file suddenly says they can't open PDF. But it isn't a PDF it's an Illustrator file. And so I try to place or link my Illustrator file again, but the same pop-up that says can't open this PDF keeps coming up. Does anybody know what's going on? Thanks! Cheers,Han
This has been a long standing issue with InDesign over the last couple of years of releases. Using two fingers to zoom (while holding OPTION) is buggy. It does work, but barely. Most of the time when zooming out it will zoom in instead, or maybe zoom in and out rapidly. This function works just fine with the mouse. Does anyone else experience this? I've been having this issue on multiple computers including work machines and Macs located at studios and agencies, not just limited to my own.
Hello....How do I create a container that has zig zag edges, so that when I drop my image into it. it mimics the look of a piece of cloth cut with pinking sheers? thanks 😊
