Description:I am experiencing a recurring issue with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (both 2025 editions) freezing on startup on my M3 MacBook Pro. I have never encountered this issue before. Dear Community, I am experiencing an issue when updating linked Photoshop files in Adobe InDesign. After modifying a PSD file in Photoshop and saving the changes, InDesign fails to update the linked image and displays an error message.. 

Hi! Since updating to InDesign 2025 (20.1) I can no longer break text threads without the application giving me the beach ball of death and then completely crashing.  I have tried uninstalling and reverting back to 2024 versions, clearing my preferences, and creating a completely new document... however, nothing has worked.  This is super frustrating, especially when working on books of 300+ pages. Do anyone have any tips? 

I’m using Indesign 2022 17.2.1 on Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1. In the past I was able to place (command D) a Word document and/or image from Dropbox into Indesign. Now when I place (command D) a document or image from Dropbox a "import failed" error pops up. I reinstalled the Dropbox app, still doesn't work. I opened the file in Dropbox so it will download on my Mac then tried placing the file in Indesign, that worked. The problem is I work with alot of files from Dropbox and need the "place"(command D) to work.Thank you 

iMac running Ventura 13.7.3 Everytime I use the keyboard shortcut 'Option' + 'Command' to duplicate elements on the canvas, or indeed duplicating pages, Adobe InDesign crashes. I've used this keyboard action for years and years without any issue. Any ideas out there? Thanks for any help.

How can I fill a table cell with a picture? 

I noticed this annoying issue after switching my main monitor from an iMac with a screen size of 5120 x 2880 to an external monitor with dims of 2560 x 1440. For some reason, now when I open InDesign and use the Fit Page in Window view option the document and pasteboard are both covered on the top and bottom. The only solution I have found is if I resize the whole InDesign window and I use the same view setting, then there is more padding between the top ruler and bottom status bar. I'm not sure why fit page to window is considering the viewable area as within the ruler and status bar... The document when affected by this seems to be sized to the outer edges of both of these panes. I don't mind resizing the window to accomadate this issue, but it seems silly that suddenly with a new screen size this is affected? I am working on a bilingual compilation in InDesign, and I am trying to work on a PDF e-book compilation in Hebrew (RTL) and LTR languages.First, I successfully set it in the opposite direction by referring to the article in the link below!! https://helpx.adobe.com/ https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/make-a-book-with-hebrew-text/m-p/12946172 But the problem is the numbers that go between Hebrew sentences.They are entered as Arabic numerals, but when you copy them from Word and paste them into InDesign, they go in the exact opposite direction of the Hebrew letters.For example, the letters that appear as 58:12 in Word come out as 21:85 when you paste them into InDesign.The paragraph writer for Hebrew, the language I'm currently working on, is 'Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer', but if I change it to 'Adobe Paragraph Composer' to display Arabic numerals correctly, the entire Hebrew paragraph will change, so this also seems impossible. For example, my fileName is: "myfile.indd".I want to create a subdirectory backup in the current directory to back up a file  that starting with the current  date....\backup\2025-03-02-myfile.inddIf there is already an existing file of the same type, it will be overwritten directly without prompting.Seems like I've seen similar scripts and didn't care at the time.

I am working on a book. I have the manuscript in Word with images embedded and/or anchored. When I place the text with images included I see blank pages but I suspect the copy is there as the overset marker is at the bottom of the page. All the images appear (126 of them) in the links panel with the 'OV' overset marker. I suspect the images are so big they are pushing the text out causing the overset. I can place without images but that is not what I want to do. I don't have the original images. I am also aware of a previous post 'How do I remove invisible linked images and overset text in an InDesign file?' Is there a way to grab these images to push them aside, resize or what ever so I can begin to work on the spreads? Or, is there a way in Word to stop them doing this? 

Hi, When i am setting up an index with many levels and numbers its kicking the words away from the numbering, sometimes it does and soemtimes it doesnt. Please help

Why are my pages adding connected to the last pages instead of a new spread?? 

Hello, i'm looking for a solution to unlink all InCopy stories and delete all assignments from an InDesign book after production. Because we might reuse a portion of the content in other publications, which leads to a few challenges… a) We might have to change the textflow because of different font stylings in the other publication, but of course want to keep the original unchanged. b) It trips up designers who don't pay attention to the Assignments panel, as copying assigned stories to a different document hides them in the "Unassigned Content" region of the panel. So they are wondering why they can't edit the text. We have our publication set up as one double page spread per InDesign document, so multiple designers can edit different parts of the publication, all collected in one InDesign book file for the whole issue. Opening each page and manually unlinking/deleting all InCopy content would be tedious. Is there a script or other method which would help with this

Hello everyone, I am working on creating a PDF accessible from InDesign and I am having several problems when I do tests on Acrobat : - When I start the audio playback of the PDF document on Acrobat, it systematically stops after reading 2 pages instead of continuing to read until the end of the document. I tried deleting pages to see if the "blocking" was coming from one of them in particular, but the reader always stops after 2 pages... - In InDesign, I created tags with the article panel in order to define the reading order. Acrobat seems to respect the order of these tags when reading the audio, but yet in the "reading order" panel, the numbering does not correspond to the order of the tags defined in InDesign and I do not know if I should worry about it or consider that my tags are correct... I'm attempting to set up a data merge to place one photo on each of several pages. After the merge, I notice that the merged image is not being placed in the page's original frame that I identified. Each image is being placed in a new frame. Therefore, I can't return to the Parent page and adjust sizes and other features of that frame en mass. Any suggestions?

hi, i am getting a crash when trying to duplicate a page via this method:i drag a page eg pg2 from the 'pages' box to the 'create new page' icon bottom right next to trash iconno problems doing this with 2024 version (or any previous version)using Indesign 2025 on Sonoma 14.4.1happens with old files and new files - not every time but pretty regularlyplease advise what to dogetting very frustrated

HiI have a pre-deffined text block which is formatted for a annual report, to reduce the copy and past of lots of little bits of data off a spreadsheet, is there an easy way to bring this data into InDesign and keep flow of this data the same as it flows through the pages. Example of pre-formated data. 

Hello everyone. I have a problem with the line thickness (outline) of text boxes. I have positioned several text boxes directly next to each other.If I now set the outline (e.g.) to 0.25PT, then it is twice as thick at the edges where the text boxes touch each other in relation to the free outer edges. I have already experimented with the settings “inside, outside, center”, but I do not get the desired result. I would like to have all lines equally thick. The text fields are exactly aligned at the moment. The first text box ends at X:70 and the second begins at X:70 Do you have any ideas what else I can try?  

Last year, I had this same problem, and it's happened again. I tried all the things i did before, to no avail.I can't get the cursor to load on placed text. I'm placing a docx file, and I've done this a hundred times with no problem. What could possibly keep the cursor from loading?ID CC, Windows 10.HERE'S WHAT I POSTED LAST TIME:UPDATE: I tried this with an .rtf version of the file, the cursor loaded, but the text frames were not automatically created as usual. And there is no overset text indicated by a red X. When i click on that spot anyway, the cursor loads again, but shift-clicking onto the second page has the same result. It's like autoflow is turned off.okay, in case this helps anyone else, i got everything to work. Here are my notes:Malwarebytes was apparently locking the file. (I was so mad, I got rid of it, cancelled my subscription--no one should be able to lock you out of your own files).i did go to properties for my publishing folder and did the right click TAKE OWNERSHIP

As you can see by the screen shots, some of the thumbnails in my Pages panel are not lined up. Project Description: I have a scrapbook of letters sent home during WWII (the original scrapbook is fragile and falling apart ... hence this project). I want a photo of each "Full Scrapbook Page" to start a new section/chapter, and have it appear on odd pages. Then, I want each letter or postcard to appear on their own separate page.  Two problems at this time:I'm having trouble getting each Full Scrapbook Page to appear on odd pages.Why are the thumbnails of pages out of alignment (not side-by-side). I've looked in the Adobe documentation and have watched countless YT videos.Thanks tons for any assistance. 

I have an Excel file with over 2,000 entries going over 13 columns, the 13th column is a description which needs to run underneath the other 12 columns. I can do that in Excel fine BUT when I copy and paste the text or import it from Excel to Indesign to be able to turn it into a table that description ends up in column 1 rather than running across all the columns. So I then have to merge that row for it to get the result I want. I have over 1,000 rows to merge and cannot select more than one alternate row at a time. This doesn’t take hours it takes days. Has anyone come across anything like this before or anyone got any solutions. Note to Adobe: Please fix this next time, either an option to select more than one alternate row at a time or something in the setting up of a table. Thanks
