InDesign

Hi there, I've searched the community and the web for this glitch and can't find it. unfortunately the latest updated to both software and OS haven't fixed this.Basically, if I leave my design for a little bit, and then come back to it (say after a meeting)I find that as soon as I tap the page with my cursor – the entire layout (all pages) disappear. Everything else is still present including my pages column on the right. But the only thing that seems to bring it back is saving and restarting the programme which obvs isn't convenient.Anyone else experienced this and/or has a fix?Many thanksCarolyh

Hi, one of our customers is facing this error since a few days, when they try to start adobe indesign 2026.See the attachment for the error Adobe indesign 2026 won't start on Windows. Things we did to possible fix this: Re-install of windows visual C++ latest versionRun SFC scan and DISMRe-install of Adobe indesign 2026checkdisk Adobe indesign 2025 is still running on the system without errors Configuration of the laptopHP ZBook 17 G6CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9850H CPU @ 2.60GHz32GB memoryWindows 11 build 24H2 

I am currently working on a artbook and the printer asked to update to a 20 mm gutter bleed and I'm not sure how that should be set up in my file. I also need help with where I should place the full art spreads with that new bleed set up.

Hello, I am writing a script to automatically perform a data merge on a template that contains a table of content that needs to be updated.I have written the following function for updating the TOC, which works fine: function updateTOCs(doc) { var TOC = doc.textFrames.itemByName("TOC"); if(TOC == "[object TextFrame]"){ TOC.select(); app.menuActions.item("$ID/UpdateTableOfContentsCmd").invoke();} else($.writeln("There is no text frame called TOC")); }However, it doesn't work when I iterate through the merged documents like so:for (var i = mergeDocs.length - 1; i >= 0; i--){ var openDoc = app.documents[i]; updateTOCs(openDoc);}This gives the error “Action is not enabled”.The TOC.select() seems to work fine. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is that the app.documents[i] is not set to be the active document, would this matter? If so, how would I go about this? Or any idea what the problem could be otherwise? Chee

Its tiresome.  This is a white vector logo, no background. Sure it comes out of libraries ok with a transparent background but in the mean time all we get is a white rectangle. How do we fix this?

Hello everyone,does anyone have a download file/package for InDesign and Photoshop from 2020/2021? Unfortunately, my PC can no longer be updated and is stuck on Windows 10 version 1909. The newer versions of InDesign are not compatible with this older operating system. Sadly, Adobe Support doesn’t have download files for the older versions anymore—only for the last three releases. They therefore advised me to ask here in the community, as someone here might be able to provide me with the download file.PS: I have an active subscription, so I really only need the download file, which I can then link again with my Creative Cloud account.I’m hoping someone might still have this old download somewhere on their PC and would be willing to share it with me.You would be my lifesaver.Best regards

I’m trying to open a cloud based document for InDesign, but the app either hangs or crashes. The app is up to date, in the log there is the error:“PagedTreePageReference: page type mismatch on load”Presumably this file is corrupt? I don’t have any other versions - how can the page reference get reinstated?

Every new file I create in indesign 2026 is corruptI can work in the file, but can't save or export it.I took an hour on an Adobe support chat, they told me it was a known issue, a conflict with MS updates and they were in progress of patching it, meanwhile I should reset preferences (nope) and uninstall all MS updates (yep).So MS updates re-installed themselves - obviously - and I’m back where I was. My main business tool is unusable. Any ideas or solutions, or a timescale for the patch please?

I just finished creating an interactive pdf but the text boxes I created wont expand when the text box is full, it keeps going but wont to the next line (I dont know how to explain it). Is there a way to have an expandable interactive text box or would I need to use another app?

Started out of the blue yesterday - I cannot get my selection tool back to normal. It won’t select items in file due to this little box hanging out with is - see image. How do I get my standard selection tool back?

When working in InDesign, entire objects (text fields, color areas, linked images) disappear and are no longer displayed. Not even their frames. The layers cannot be selected by clicking on the location where the elements are located. Zooming into the document or changing the view mode doesnt change anything in the visability of the objects.  However, the objects are still there in the layers window. Similarly, when exporting a PDF, the invisible objects become visible again. I can make the objects visible again by copying and pasting them onto a new page or by saving an IDML and opening it. However, the objects keep disappearing when working in the file.Tested with GPU turned on and off.

Hi!Maybe the community can help me with this: When exporting a InDesign-document to Adobe PDF/X-4:2010 for prepress/print, I get a warning about color separation inconsistency. When checking this out, it points to the ”cutting-marks” and to the document-info of the PDF (this is all outside the printing-area). It also warns about the system font Helvetica.  I have never seen this warning before. And even more strange: When I do a preflight of the PDF in smaller chunks of pages, everything is ok. We use Google's Material Symbols fonts for icons in our documents. This works fine in InDesign 2025, but if I open a file containing Material Symbols in InDesign 2026, it immediately crashes. The same goes for assigning the font to text within a document. Immediate crash.

hello, i am working on a book (currently in dissertation form) that has endnotes at the end of the entire book. right now, the endnotes are auto-populating on the very last page of the document. after i made enough endnotes to fill up that page, rather than stopping at the end of the page and starting a new endnote page, the footnotes are bleeding off of the page into the blank in-between space. i'd like for the endnotes to fill up multiple, continuous pages. i have tried a few things that have not worked, like copying some over to a new page, or attempting to figure out how to add a second endnote text box on the next page. thank you! 

There is a command to recompose all the stories. It is:Ctrl + Alt + / I want to invoke the same command using this method:app.menuActions.item("$ID/Show Rulers").invoke(); Instead of "Show Rulers" how do I write the above command. Thanks

I use Adobe inDesign in pallet mode, so not 'Application Frame' mode, with toolbars at the top and left docked and pallets docked to the right. Click the the expand traffic light button in the top left used to just expand the window so that it still showed the dock at the bottom and the pallets to the right, if they inadvertently went behind the pallets or dock. Now it just goes full screen mode which I don't use and is useless for a pallet rich application like InDesign, and is impossible to get out of, unless you move & undock the toolbars out of the way so that when you move your mouse to the top, the window buttons reappear. This is so broken it's unbelivable you've shipped it like this. The only fix for this is to go into Application Frame mode which doesn't work for me because I need to see the Finder desktop when there's no documents open. It's a bug because holding down the option key and hovering over the expand button, changes it into a + sign but

Im on the brink of waving InDesign goodbye, when this happens ever egain. After Updating InDesign to 20.3.1 every window with a previous checked "preview"-checkbox gets reverted to unchecked – Every. Effin. Update. Is this really neccessary??  

Takes forever to switch from open file to open file!!!!!!! And also takes forever for placed image files to show high res. 

This my first posting here. I am an 86 year-old retired minister of the Uniting Church in Australia, formerly Methodist. I have a large number of sermons, orders of worship, articles etc saved on my computer, many of which are in InDesign format (from when I was a paying subscriber to (I think) CS6. My understanding was that I had purchased a lifetime subscription to InDesign, but I can no longer retrieve them. How do I now download these 'old' versions so that I and my family can enjoy recalling those old days? Russell_0502.

I have a text frame in Adobe InDesign with around 100 lines, each separated by a hard return (Enter). The font size is 12 px and I want the line height (leading) to also be 12 px.Manually adjusting each line is too slow. Is there a faster way to narrow the spacing for all lines at once, ideally without editing each paragraph individually?

My Adobe fonts not activating in Indesign. This has just started in the past week or so. I have tried using both indesign 2025 & 2026 i am on a mac sequoiz 15.6. Please help!!!

Hello,I'd appreciate your expertise here, please.I have a 250-page book with two-page spreads.Some of the pages have an image, say, on the left side that bleeds Top, Left, Bottom and extends to the gutter. Problem: it bleeds into the gutter and onto the next page.My printer said my bleeds have to be the same on all sides, to trim the pages correctly, so I set my bleeds at 0.125" Top, Bottom, Inside, Outside.Problem: when I adjust images away from the gutter by a point or two, to potentially correct the bleeding over, they still bleed across. I should not have to do this, but it's a limitation of InDesign..Any suggestions, please?Thank you,D
