hi, i am currently in y13 (uk) and i am looking to get a new laptop which can run photoshop and indesign because they are what i use for my media coursework and my current laptop can only run photoshop. i would also like my laptop to last me as long as possible (atleast through uni!) and also preferably be lighter so i can take it with me wherever possible so i can finish work on the go any suggestions would be highly appreciated!! obviously cheaper the better but i wouldnt mind investing in a good laptop if it will last longer, ive heard macs are good but i am a hardcore fan of android/samsung so any other suggestions that arent apple would be amazing :)

I placed a PSD file with transparent background into InDesign, and it adds white background to it. I checked the fill on the frame, but it set to none. I worked on the file two weeks ago and it worked fine. I tried placing another PSD file in a new ID file, but it also fails.When I click "view > overprint preview" or export the file to PDF it looks alright.I use latest InDesign CC, Photoshop CS6 and Windows 10.

こちらの投稿とほぼ同じ内容のことが起きているのですが、・IDMLで書き出したものを開き保存し直す・バックグラウンド保存をオフにする・PDF 書き出しプリセットを変えてみる・PDF 書き出しプリセット名を半角英数字にする・下記リンクの通りダウンサンプルまわりを調整するhttps://helpx.adobe.com/jp/indesign/desktop/troubleshoot/file-and-output-issues/pdf-export-fails.htmlをやってみたのですが解決せず、・エラーの原因だと示されたページを除いて書き出すをやってみても、今度は別のページが原因とされてエラーが出てしまい、どうしてもpdfを書き出せません…。 エラー元だと示されるページに関しても、重い画像は使用しておらず、メモリの問題ではないように思います。Illustratorのデータをリンクファイルとしてマスターに配置しておりますが、こちらについても重いデータではありません。 もし何かお知恵がございましたらご教授いただけますと幸いです。何卒よろしくお願いいたします。 環境につきましてindesign：バージョン20.5.5MacBook pro ：チップ Apple M5 pro：メモリ24GBOS ：Tahoe バージョン26.4 ＊データの保存先はクラウドではなくローカルのデスクトップです。＊indesignのアンインストールはまだ試しておりません。やってみるべきでしょうか…＊indesign20.5.5は現在インストールできるバージョンの中で一番安定しているものだと思うので、極力アップデートはしない方法があれば…と思っています。＊今までindesign2023を使用しておりましたが、転職に伴いindesign2025を使用し始めて1週間程度です。今回初めてpdf書き出しをしようとしたところ、書き出せず…という流れです。

when i put image, circle continuing and freezing happens then eventually indesign shuts down

Mac Indesign 21.4.1 Undo/Redo does not work. Plus stability issues. Never had stability and lagging issues with Indesign until last couple updates. Very frustrating and complicates my workflow. Need to force quite often as well. Bad update. I am thinking about reinstalling earlier versions.

I’ve been having major issues with InDesign locking up ever since this update. It doesn’t crash so it doesn’t send a report either. At least two times every day, I need to either force quit the app or restart. It is very frustrating!

InDesign crashes and shuts down whenever I try to update links. The application is up to date, and the crash log has been submitted to Adobe. Is anyone else running into this issue?

Hello, Im looking to make a script to facilitate a mockup I'm doing, and usually i resize boxes automatically to fit the text or description, but for this one i need it to be one line only and make the overtext appears as "...”.I’ve tried looking for a solution but haven't found any so i came here. I tried tabulation but it just goes to the next line if the text reach the 3 dots, and ive tried looking at all the paragraph parameters too but i can’t find anything helpful (or i missed it).Maybe with a grep replacement ?Thanks in advice for anyone answering !

Hello! So my team and I have been adding alt text to images in PhotoShop and then using Object Export Options with “From XMP: Alt Text (Accessibility)” selected for the Alt Text Source. In InDesign, this works great. We can see the alt text. But it does not seem to transfer to PDF when exported. We have triple checked that the “Create Tagged PDF” option is selected when exporting to PDF. What are we doing wrong? Object Export Options exampleExport options selected 

I installed Adobe 2026 on my imac. Now undo doesn’t work. It’s permanently grayed out. ID 21.2 on a Retina 5K running Ventura 13.7.8. If you look at screen shot, I can’t undo the neon effect I made or undo the letter ‘M’ I deleted. I’m opening 2025 ID to see if that helps. 

We have had a problem with Indesign where when we open a document one of the fonts wasn’t displaying correctly which wasn’t spotted. Upon investigating, when you open the document up for the first time, it displays incorrectly, but if you open up for the 2nd time, without quitting Indesign, the font displays and outputs ok.Has anyone experienced this and what the issue could be?

Currently having an issue with my undo/history function. I seem to only be able to go back 2 or 3 commands before the entire history disappears. pls help!

Recently i was working on project. Saved with no errors. Now I cannot open that file, however I can open other files with no problem. Why my file is not OK anymore?

This is quite a frequent bug I have lately. Whenever I am switching to other app while InDesign is idle (can still be seen on screen; not minimized), and when going back to Indesign, some weird bug happen in one combo. The cursor icon will stuck showing Move tool or Hand tool, regardless I am actually using Pen Tool, Type Tool or other tools. Actual tool is functioning normally, but showing a wrong tool icon is frustrating.In the same time, I cannot do any Undo. The history list stop recording any new changes or actions, even clicking on the previous History records do not change anything, stuck as well. Cannot do undo is a nightmare. When this occur, Indesign cannot be closed in normal way.. must be terminated through Activity Monitor. I am using Macbook Pro M1 Pro 32GB RAM. Latest current InDesign (21.5.1). Hopefuly any solution to this. 

I have a document where a bunch of tabs have a leading . character. This is not set up in the paragraph (which has no defined tab stops) or the style or its parent style. I can find no explanation for it.Anybody?Update: There was a tab stop buried under the right-margin marker. This UI is a clinic on design failure. Look at this thing. 

Indesign often records screen and audio for a few seconds even if it doesn't have active permission. How is this possible? And for what reason? The screenshot is to show that no app has permission to record.   <Title renamed by MOD>

The latest version on InDesign was not working on our Windows 11 systems: it either wouldn’t launch or when using it, text will disappear in text boxes (even though it is still there) and the Undo action only performs one or two undos. Uninstalled and went back to InDesign version 20.5.1 which appeared to work fine until today: now I am having the same undo problem. Tested in a brand new document.It should be noted that coworkers with Macs are not having this issue.I saw a previous post that said this could be fixed by unchecking the GPU option in preferences, but that is NOT checked in mine (it is greyed out because it says it does not detect a compatible device).It is almost impossible to work knowing you only have one undo, please advise how to fix this!

I’m running the latest version on a MacBook Pro with Tahoe 26.2.So far I've noticed:Undo is unavailable (grayed out in the menu) Extreme lag time when importing large images Cursor gets stuck in the previous mode. (For example, if I switch to the magnifying glass to  enlarge the view then go back to the regular arrow, it stays in the magnifying glass. 

I can’t believe this is happening again. We really should get some sort of discount or refund for all the time we’re wasting lately with this issue.After being solved, this problem shows up again with the last update. I suddenly lose all UNDO steps, past the last four or five, just like what happened a few months ago.If the problem is related with the History panel, JUST DISABLE THE HISTORY PANEL. We didn’t have this issue before the panel, so I guess it has something to do with it.

I am able to hold shift and use the free transform tool to change my frame and object at the same time, but I need to be able to type in a specific width - it’s exhausting to try to hit the exact size by dragging, and In Design isn’t letting me get exactly there either. I need the two to be linked, because I used the frame to do some pretty heavy cropping, and I need that to be maintained.

CS6 Aktiverung nicht möglichWir besitzen Adobe CS6, welche jetzt auf einem neuen Rechner installiert werden soll, da der vorherige defekt / nicht mehr existent ist. Diese Aktivierung schlägt mit dem Hinweis fehl, dass die Seriennummer bereits aktiviert ist.Der Support teilte mir mit, dass für CS6 keine Aktivierung mehr möglich ist, da die entsprechenden Servern von Adobe abgeschaltet wurden und wir bitte ein Abo abschliessen sollen!Was soll das Ganze? Wir haben eine Dauerlizenz (für viel Geld) erworben, welche wir auch dauerhaft und ohne Einschränkungen nutzen können.Wie sieht dies Lösung hierfür aus?Falls Abobe wirklich Kunden durch die Hintertür untersagt, wäre das praktisch Betrug und ein Fall für eine Strafanzeige.Sorry für meinen Unmut.

When scaling or repositioning objects contained within a group, the object should snap to other objects within that group (when smart guides are enabled). This includes images within frames. EG, if you want to resize an image within a frame to the edge of the frame, this won’t work if the frame is part of a group. This was originally posted on UserVoice in July 2019 and commented on by Ravi Kiran from the Adobe InDesign team in July 2019. This issue remains in 2026.

Hi, Is it really still not possible to use custom icons for a custom UXP script panel that we write? No matter what I do, I'm still stuck with the default icon. UXP has been around for a couple of years now, and this is still not supported? (It was totally possible in the outdated CEP), but not in UXP? whole panelsicons: IconsThank you.
