Hello,i need the InDesign Version 19.5, as a client has a content management system that's only compatible with InDesign version 19.5. What can i do?Many thanks and greetings
Hi. Very much a newbie. I was feeling good, having nearly finished formatting my first InDesign novel. After my nearly final WYSIWYG copyedit, I decided to experiment adding a left/right header (author name/book title) to the parent page to see how it would look. The header appeared properly on all appropiate Chapter 1 pages and to suppress it on the chapter's page one. Then I tried to use synch to apply the header to the remaining 42 chapters. The synch failed after two or three additional chapters. On principle, I've never touched CoPilot, ChatGP, or any of that, but Google AI has been indespensible in getting the novel formatted, giving useful answers to convoluted questions even many lines long. This time Google advised me to export my front matter file and the forty-three text chapters to IDML, save them with new file names back to .indd, create a new book with a new file name, and add the newly 'cleaned' front matter and 43 chapters to the new book. &n
I’m working on a multi-page document and want consistent line spacing across all text frames and pages. I’ve enabled the baseline grid, but some paragraphs don’t align correctly. What settings should I check in paragraph styles, preferences, or document setup to ensure everything snaps properly to the grid?
I built a GREP tester just for InDesign. No Python tabs. No JavaScript flags. No features you'll never use.Just the parts that matter for InDesign — hidden characters, a GREP reference panel, nothing else.Give it a shot. It's free:https://grepr.eastpole.nl/
I updated to the new Tahoe just a couple of days ago and I've had nothing but problems with my whole adobe package since. The most basic document of 16 pages is constantly crashing in Indesign, I've done force-quit more than in the past five years. After raising prices for the package (again) extremely dissapointing performance.
Everytime i create a new document a new duplicate is appearing. What can cause this issue in indesign (21.1) - Cache deleted, Preferences deleted. (no plugins installed). Can this be from a script or from a restricted folder (read/write)/access to folder restricted due to security?Thank you.
InDesign 2026 crashed while I was actively working on an INDDC cloud document.Since then, opening this file immediately causes InDesign to crash with a “serious error” message.Other INDDC files open normallyLocal .indd files open normallyRestarting macOS and InDesign does not helpThe file exists only in the cloud. There is no way to open, duplicate, or convert it to a local .indd file. Adobe has also removed the ability to pause or disable syncing, so there is no recovery path when a cloud document is corrupted.I’ve tried restarting, signing out/in of Creative Cloud, opening from Recents, force-quitting Core Sync, and going offline. None worked. This makes INDDC unsafe for production work.Is there any official way to recover or export content from a crashing cloud document? Is this a known issue in InDesign 2026?
Hello, I have created a GUI for recent files. A list of functions is provided below.DATA SOURCES AND FILE MANAGEMENTThe script retrieves a list of recently opened files from the Windows Registry and the system Recent Items folder. It identifies the specific Adobe InDesign version used to create a file by reading metadata directly from the document. Users can perform a recursive scan of selected folders to identify all contained InDesign documents and their version data. The interface allows for immediate filtering of the document list by filename, or sorting.INDESIGN PAGE PREVIEWSThe script extracts image data directly from the document internal metadata. It detects and displays the exact number of page previews that Adobe InDesign has stored within the specific file. Users can navigate through all available page previews using next and previous controls. The tool utilizes PowerShell to convert the extracted metadata into temporary JPG files for viewing within the interface. APPLICATIO
Hello, Since I updated InDesign to the latest version, it can no longer find this font. This is the “official” font we use in our company. I have thousands of InDesign documents, and every time I open one, I have to replace them to correct the error, which is incredibly time-consuming.The problem is that the font is present on my PC, and I can use it everywhere, including the version 19.5.2 of InDesign that I have also installed separately.I don't understand why, after the update, the font is not detected when I open any document. Even more absurd is that I can always replace it with the same font in the Library and it corrects the error. How can I solve this without having to replace it every time?Thank you
The latest InDesign upgrade is very glitchy for me. The program is randomly shutting down - once or twice a day for no apparent reason. Additionally, while in the program, some text boxes simply disappear from view. I can move the text box and get the text to be visible again but this is getting really frustrating. Is a program bug fix coming or should I uninstall and use the 2025 version?
I am using Indesign 21.1 x64 which the CC helps me keep up to date. I don't code. I am typesetting an ebook and at the end of each chapter, I want to have a hyperlink on the words 'Study Guide' which, when tapped, sends the reader to the back of the book where that chapter's Study Guide is located. So, a hyperlink or endnote or crossref of some sort which links to a particular heading. I believe I need a Text Anchor, but when I ask how to create one, all the 'Correct' answer so far in the forum are out of date. They tell me to go to Window-Interactive-Hyperlinks-New Hyperlink Destination, but this menu option does not exist. I improvised and this is the red flag I got.
I'm working on an older file (~2023) with a table. Any modifications to the text in the table causes it to be overset text. This includes just deleting a character. The font has not been changed. Please send help.
I am laying out an epub, and at the end of each chapter I want to type the words Study Guide and have a hyperlink or bookmark of some sort on that, to let the reader jump to that chapter's study guide at the end of the book. Sounds simple, but it isn't. All the instructions I could find (voted 'correct') are out of date. The help files are even more out of date, and will tell you to link to a Text Anchor, but if you can't create a Text Anchor, you're stuck with [None] in the drop-down. And by the way, wouldn't you think the Hyperlink panel would be under Type-Hyperlinks & Cross References? No. It's under Window-Interactive. I call No Fairs. When I finally found it, it was as confused as I was. Please help but please don't ask me to code.
I am running into a persistent font issue in InDesign 2026 (Windows) and I am trying to understand what is actually happening under the hood. When I open my document, InDesign reports missing fonts, almost always Montserrat. When I check the font list, I see what appears to be two different Montserrat font families, and the font list itself is partially out of alphabetical order. Here is the odd behavior:One Montserrat family appears to only have a Regular style. The other family contains Light, Bold, ExtraBold, etc.Text in the document is assigned to Light, ExtraBold, etc., so InDesign cannot resolve those styles when it links to the “Regular-only” family.Even after I reassign the correct Montserrat family and styles and save the file, the issue comes back when reopening the document. I tried troubleshooting by:Checking the Windows Fonts folder and removing duplicates. However, Windows only shows one Montserrat family, the one with all variants. This makes me suspect that
On Windows 11Windows and application all fully updated to latest versionsWas working ok previously but wouldn't save a document and then crashed and has not been able to start up again since
I have a legacy AppleScript that works with InDesign 2024, but has since stopped working with the newer versions. The programmer who wrote the original script is no longer at the agency and the need to fix the script has grown greater due to InDesign 2024 no longer being available. The script takes an open InDesign file and writes out two separate results: one with bleeds and one without, each page separated out into indvidual files, and the names representative of the content. I know it has something to do with POSIX paths and aliases, but can't figure out how to update the script. on SaveAsEPS(indd) set Bleed to "24pt"set OutlineText to true set ScoreLine to 12set CutLine to 24 set thePrintDirName to "SaveAsEPS" tell application "Adobe InDesign 2024"-- tell application id "com.adobe.InDesign"set inddFolder to file path of inddset inddName to name of indd--set PDFPreset to PDF export preset named "[High Quality Print]" end tell -- the following sets
I’m currently working on a multi-page document in Adobe InDesign and was wondering if there’s an efficient way to automatically generate a table of contents. My document uses multiple headings and paragraph styles, and I’d like the table of contents to update automatically if page numbers or text change. I’m especially interested in best practices for setting it up correctly from the start and avoiding common issues like incorrect page references or missing headings. Any step-by-step guidance or tips from experienced users would be really helpful.
Feature SummaryIntroduce inset spacing controls for graphic/image frames and undefined frames in Adobe InDesign, similar to existing text frame inset functionality. Problem StatementInDesign currently allows inset spacing only within text frames. When designers create callout elements—particularly those with rounded or curved corners—this limitation introduces workflow inefficiencies and layout compromises. Specifically, when rounding the corners of a text frame, the curved geometry affects the inset behavior, forcing designers to rely on a single, uniform inset value rather than allowing independent control per side (top, right, bottom, left). This makes it difficult to achieve precise, visually balanced padding—especially in asymmetrical or compact callout designs. Current WorkaroundTo maintain control and visual accuracy, designers often:Create an undefined (or graphic) frame as the visual backgroundPlace a separate text frame on topManually align and adjust spacingGr
Anyone know if there are plans for InDesign to support CMYKOGV?(as of 21.1 it is not supported) Certification was completed back in 2021 after conclusion of a research project. In essence expanded color gamut offset printing is the idea of increasing the color space of CMYK using 3 additional colors (orange, green, violet). CMYKOGV as characterized by FOGRA 55 is proofable using Epson SureColor printers (P7570, P9570). I have seen several printers already offering 7c offset print. These days it's basically to cut down on cost (to achieve almost complete Pantone coverage without having to resort to actually spot colors). A first viable compatibility step would be for InDesign to export CMYKOGV in PDF/X-3/X-1a as 4C + spot color plates, since FOGRA 55 is based on FOGRA 51. The obvious missing piece is for InDesign to actually support CMYKOGV, which in itself is going to be quite a journey as the color model is everything but intuitive. Maybe the use of
Since the last major upgrade (version 21), InDesign intermittently fails to display palette menus when I click the appropriate button. Changing the size of the application window refreshes the interface, and the palette menu will be then display properly. Often I have to minimize and then maximize the window many times per day as a temporary fix. Upgrading to version 21.1 has not resolved the issue. Resetting InDesign's preferences didn't fix the issue, and I'd prefer not to revert to a previous version of InDesign because I don't think I'd be able to access files created with the newest version. I have also completed these steps:Please rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from this location:Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\AdobeIf there's no change, also rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from these locations:Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe The above solution was found here:https://community.adobe.com
Our brand font is Montserrat, which is an Adobe Font. I have the whole suite installed and I use it across all apps. When I link Illustrator files where I've used Montserrat into InDesign documents, it shows that the font is missing, even though Illustrator itself doesn't have an issue with the font. It's not a huge issue as everything appears okay, but I hate the error message on the bottom of the screen. I've checked my Font Book (I'm on a Mac) and I don't have any other versions of the font installed outside of Adobe Fonts, so there shouldn't be a conflict there. Based on the Find/Replace Font box inside InDesign, it looks like maybe an issue with the font naming between the two apps? Inside Illustrator I'm using Montserrat Regular, which shows up fine in the find/replace box, but it shows it's missing "Montserrat" alone, no other weight distinction. How can I fix this discrepancy?
I have previously added a particular custom font and now it is no longer working properly. I have tried to remove the font and upload it again, but then it says the file is already downloaded. When I go into indesign, it will let me type one letter of the custom font and then the rest is highlighted in pink. Also, if I delete that one letter and then try to type it again, the pink highlight shows up again. Any ideas?? [Moved from the CC Desktop forum by moderator]
Was kann man dagegen machen?Brauche dringend Hilfe! Danke!
