InDesign

When I want to open Indesign, the icon appears for one second in my bar below, but then disappears again. Indesign doensn't want to open. I tried with different versions. See video attached.  I have this problem for some weeks already 

Hi there, hope someone can help me. I set my document Dictionary preferences to Dutch New Rules 2005, and chose Proximity for hyphenation. I also set my paragraph styles accordingly. Then I noticed that the hyphenation is not correct, and I check the Dictionary preferences. To my surprise it is now set to Dutch Old Rules, and hyphenation is set to Hunspell. So I change it back to what is should be, but after a short while it is set back to the wrong settings. The hyphenation itself stays incorrect, I have top manually adjust it.How is this possible? The settings keeps changing back, the hyphenations keeps being wrong. I have never had this problem. 

Hi all   I am looking for a working method or script that will disable hyphenation in all the paragraph styles in an existing document in one go in Indesign Windows 11. I can do it manually, paragraph style by paragraph style but its a long process in large documents.   ThanksJohn

I am working with a numbered list that includes an a couple indented numbered list. Like this:1. Sentence.2. Sentence.3. Sentence.     a. Sentence     b. Sentence     c. Sentence4. Sentencen     a. Sentence     b. Sentence     c. Sentence4. This number should be five but it defaults to 4. If I deleted the a,bc, list, the second No. 4 turns to 5.  Any ideas on how to correct this?

hey! Every time I open my indesign to start writing a text, it automatically places two double angle brackets at the beginning of each sentence. How do I get rid of those? Thank you so much!

HiI need a paragraph style for the photo captions on my project that has a rule below that is exactly 2p wide, regardless of the width of the text box. If the photos were all the same size, i could make a "rule below" and have the 'Right Indent' be whatever it needs to be so that the rule is only 2p. But I have photos of various sizes, so this doesn't always work without some fiddling. I was wondering if there was some way to do this?Thanks,Kurt

I need to make a change to the running head of a chapter of a book I'm formatting, but when I highlight one or even all of the pages in that section and right-click for the Numbering & Section Options panel, the section information is missing. Other chapters show the correct information. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? Just want to know before recreating that section. Thanks in advance for any help.  

I just started creating e-books in InDesign and I am running into issues with background graphics. My background image keeps showing up on a separte page. Do you have a suggestion how to fix it? I tried different layers, anchoring before the mountain icon, anchoring in the text box on the page before, grouping the images etc. 

Hi, had a bit of an odd one lately, a document I was working on seemed to auto-generate alt-text for one of the images in the publication, which then showed up on a hover-over in Acrobat after output, but none of the other images within the document. I checked the image file for any sort of existing tagging or metadata, but couldn't identify anything. Any ideas why this would happen? None of the other images within the file were tagged. Thanks

Bonjour à tous!J'ai un soucis avec 2 manuels qui contiennent des hyperliens/boutons tel que des retour au début du manuel et vers des pages spécifiques. Le manuel contient plusieurs fichiers, les liens sont fait via des boutons (accéder à la page).La problèmatique a débuté lors de la version 20, j'ai choisi de rester avec 19. En Juin 2025, j'ai retenté avec la version 20, toujours le bogue. On clique sur le bouton et rien ne se passe ou l'exportation vers un PDF intéractif plantait. Une collègue a tenté avec la version 21 (décembre 2025) avec un autre manuel mais elle a du retourner à la version 19, elle aussi.J'ai fais les mises à jour en janvier 2026 pour la version 19 que j'utilise encore pour ces manuels où il y a énomément de bouton vers des cibles dans plusieurs documents du manuel. Surprise, quand tout fonctionnait en décembre, là mes boutons ne sont plus fonctionnels. I'm having an issue with placing objects. When I press 'Cnrl+D' to place an object and use the search bar in the file explorer nothing happens and I can't file any files I'm looking for unless trawling through manually.  - I'm on windows- It's not an issue of typos- Searching for a file outside of InDesign works perfectly fine and locates files as it should

how can i get my parent page elements be ON TOP  of elements on each pg?

Bonjour, Depuis la dernière mise à jour d'InDesign nous avons plusieurs bugs sur l'application (5 postes de travail dans notre agence) : les blocs de texte deviennent blancs lorsqu'on rédige, il n'est pas possible de revenir en arrière (ctrl + z) plus de 5 fois, l'application se ferme quand l'ordinateur se met en veille, latence des déplacements entre les pages...Nous avons mis à jour le logiciel > pas d'améliorationPuis réinstallé > pas d'amélioration Est-ce que ces bugs ont été identifiés et est-ce des solutions ont été trouvées? Je vous remercie par avance ! Its has been reported from multiple users are experiensign sudden shut down of the app with error message of ""Network connection was lost". tried everything, the server works perfectly fine, backups or antivirus is not accessing the file or the backup.

How to start pagination on page 3 and not on page 1 of a book?

Hi Adobe Fans and Fanatics,I’m experiencing a persistent issue with text buttons and link selection in an Interactive PDF created in InDesign. Within InDesign, everything functions as expected. However, once I export the document to an Interactive PDF, the button behaviour becomes incorrect.Each text button is configured with the same actions and is intended to reveal a hidden button on rollover or click (as shown in Example 1 below).Recently, instead of triggering the correct hidden button, the rollover appears to activate a different link positioned below it (see Example 2 below).To troubleshoot, I have:Reapplied all button actionsRecreated buttons from scratchRe-exported multiple times over several weeks Despite this, the issue persists. There are no overlapping text buttons or links in the layout, and the stacking order appears correct. Could someone please advise on what might be causing this behaviour, or whether this is a known issue with Interactive PDF exports from InDesign? T

HELP!Adobe, via CC, recently upgraaded my CC to 2026 and now, when i open an INDD doc (and I have have 100's) I cant select pages or master pages.  It allows me to click on a page but it wont allow me to chose another page or master from then.   It drives me nuts that an app gets updated and then doesnt work and you xcant call anyone to fix it! Please help somebody tony

It looks like the InDesign (and the rest of the CC apps) are finally certified as compatible with Mac OS 26 Tahoe. Does anyone have any real world experience running the latest version? https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/apps/system-requirements/apps-compatible-macos.html

I’m trying to create an accessible PDF. The screen reader (voiceover on Mac) pauses after each line. Apparently this is caused by the document’s structure. The paragraph element contains separate tags for each line. How can I avoid this?This is what the tag structure looks like in Acrobat:

Bonjour, Depuis que j'ai installé la nouvelle versions v 20.5.1 et v21.0.2, je n'arrive plus à sauvegarder mes fichiers. En effet, je peux ouvrir et travailler sur mes fichiers In Desing, mais lorsque je veux "enregistrer"ou "enregistrer sous", il y a une nouvelle fenêtre qui s'ouvre, toute noir et rien ne se passe.  Merci de votre retour.
