Hello everyoneI would like to integrate a workflow into my company that enables seamless collaboration between editorial and layout teams. Until now, we have been using an external editorial system, but we will be discontinuing it at the end of the year.My goal is to have all communication run through InDesign. The editorial team should be able to place and correct their texts, while the layout can be changed or supplemented by the graphics department.Is there anyone who has experience in this area and can help me with this?Many thanks in advance!

I have downloaded two TrueType fonts (39 Smooth and Smooth Fantasy) to my Adobe fonts folder but I am unable to access them in InDesign. Can anyone help please?

I couldn't write a JavaScript if my life depended on it, so I am forced to bother you all friends if someone can assist me with this: I need to scan the current doc and pick up every text string with the par style "sty1" then dump all those instances into a new text frame at the end of the doc with a acsemi colon between them. But there is a little tricky issue here: these strings will always be in the footnote area. Now on many pages there are two text frames, on the top A and on the bottom B. Each one could have FN with that par style. But it is crucial *that the order be by entire page*, so it should scan the FN of text frame A on page 1 and then text of the FN on frame B on page 1 and then proceed to page 2 and repeat again etc.   So if on page 1 in text frame A, we have a footnote (again in frame A) with the formatted text "I love cheesecake" and another formatted FN "I love soda" and then in frame B (on page 1) we have in the FN the formatted text "I love walnuts " and then

I have a par style with a grep style to format the last word of the paragraph of that style (hebrew/arabic). I set teh correct char style and then used this grep code:[[:alnum:]]+[[:punct:]]?$(Don't think i know grep. I got from ChatGPT)It absoltlrly refuses to obey. I admonished Chatgpt and is gave some others but they all refuse to commit, Why is ID refusing to follow orders? Thank youSusan Flamingo

Is the numeric 11 position smaller? Yet in English mode, it remains uniformly wide overall.Sometimes Chinese text aligns properly too, but I'm unsure what factors determine this.

Regardless of the level, one can directly access the text box layer.There's no need for multiple levels of navigation like .parent.parent.parent.For example, cell.parentFrame or contents.parentFrame?

I have a completed design file packaged. I've received an order from my client to an upgrade from the original design.  I want to save the original to a new project ID but have never been able to make it work as the links remain tied to the original. Is there a way to make a completed INDD file to a new one with links tied to the new file? Thanks to those who know more than me,Joe

Hi all,Apologies if this already exists on the forum somewhere, if it does I have been unable to find anything that helps. I'll list all the facts that I have below. Hoping that someone out there knows something!My Indesign is displaying colours as faded/washed out. This is happening with whatever documents I work on. I have checked and double checked that the documents have the correct colour break-downs - when I export to PDFs (or JPG or whatever else) the colours show correctly, so I know that the problem is not with my Mac screen. Document colours also display correctly when my colleague opens and works on them on his Mac, so I deduce that it the problem lies with my Indesign.My indesign is fully up to date and the problem persists no matter what display performance I chose. Indesign is displaying faded on everything both created in indesign and assets imported in from illustrator however imported JPGs seems to be okay. Hi, I'm writing a climbing guidebook where the climbs are described by drawings, where the routes are drawn inn with lines on those drawings. Next to those there's some text with info and grades etc... I made the drawings in Illustrator and created different layers for the drawing, the route and the text. I then place the Illustrator file directly into Indesign and draw over the lines and text - this because I sometimes have to change the size of the immage, and otherwise the route line thickness and font sizes would differ from page to page. I then end with "shutting off" some layers in the illustrator file (from indesign). The problem I'm runnin into now is that the transparency of the .ai files is lost. My page number boxes get blocked by what should be a transparrent part of the layers in illustrator. Is there a workaround here or am I opening a can of worms that my limited experience will not be able to work with?  Attached a picture of the guide

I got a book with 500+ pages with hundredsof headlines. This document contains just a paragraph style for the headlines and one forfollowing copytext of each chapter. Now I want to apply a new paragraph style "subtitle text" to every first paragraphafter the headlines. The second one is normal copytext until the next headline. I tried to:Working with "next style" in the paragraph style option, but it is necessary to mark the paragraphs to utilize the function. This doesn’t work so smart, because I have to mark it for every occurrence.Searching with GREP-styles (lookahead for example) combined with the paragraph"find-"selection But nothing worked very well. Do you have an idea?

Hello, I am having a strange problem with Adobe. When I create a new document, OR resize an existing document, the new size frequently randomizes. For example, if I put in the WxH of 4x6, it might turn into a 3x12, or a 7x2, or anything else for that matter. I'm being very careful typing it in, and it will read correct until the moment I press the "OK" button, when I will see the new random size flash into those boxes for a split second as the window closes. I usually have to size it two or three times before the correct size "takes". This happens in Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Any ideas?

Hello all.I can find grep commands that do some of these things, but I need one that does all of them. For some wild reason, after spending hours online, I cannot find the solution. I appreciate your help. No, nested styles do not help here. I need a command in my paragraph style that does this:- applies a character style up to AND INCLUDING a colon, ONLY if there's a colon in the paragraph.- Ideally this goes up to just the first colon. If that's not possible, I need to set a word limit (let's say 10 words for example) on how far the search goes into the paragraph.Thank you.

Just created a new document and placed an image. Whenever I try to move the image it is copied instead of moved. I inserted a text box and when I try to select the text to change the format, the box moves as though I was using the Hand tool. None of the tools are doing what they normally do or are supposed to do. I reinstalled an older version. Same problem. At the moment InDesign is unusable.   <Title renamed by MOD>

The tagging of Arabic glyphs is incorrect in my pdf. (Please note that English is not my first language, I apologize for any mistakes!) What I've done so far:I installed the ME version of the application, made sure all of the paragraph styles are in Arabic + RTL and used the world ready composer. I'm using a font that is intended for Arabic script (Nassim Arabic). During pdf export I made sure that the document language is set to Arabic. When I view my document in Acrobat I can see that the language and binding are set correctly in the document properties. But if I view the tags for the paragraphs, the glyphs in these tags are all wrong. The tagged glyphs seem to be actual glyphs from an RTL writing system, just not the ones intended. When I copy-paste text from the pdf it does paste correctly, so the problem is only in the tags. What could this be?

Good morning, I've spent time going through the forum here with issues pertaining to the Indesign Data Merge feature not working properly. And, I have tried just about all the suggestions I could find. I normally save the file as Comma Separated Values. So I tried saving the file as a MacInstosh Comma Separated and MS DOS Comma Separated. I opened the Comma Separated Values file in a text editor too. No results with this. Then I started over from scratch with a new Excel report used to create direct mail imprints. Got rid of any blank columns and saved it as Comma Separated Values file. Same results. Then I created a new InDesign File with new data fields. And this didn't work either.In all these attempts, the CSV file is there, but when I go to select it and click okay, nothing happens. Please note I perform this task regularly and it's fortunately the first time I've run into this issue. I'm actually working on another project with no issues at all. < scratching my head, wond

Hi,No matter what I do, I can not get multiply image to work when publishing it to web. It looks fine in indesign, I then publish and it comes out normal. I have followed instructions from another post saying to go: object - export options - rasterise, but this doesnt work either. Any suggestions? BestF

My table header usually has 1-4 rows, most of the time 1-2rows.I sometimes need to determine which table header rows already exist.Next I need to convert to body rows,  or copy the table header rows. Before I applied the style, I determined the number of table headers by manually selecting them.The table header rows are the rows I selected.How should this code be expressed? After applying table styles, if I ever have table headers.How do I determine which rows are table headers?

I have a book that consists of 10 different files and many many different text boxes. I need to find out what the total word count is for the entire book. Is there a simple way to do this, or do I have to copy and paste all the text from InD into a word file to get the number? Your help is much appreciated.
