My PC is crashing when using the Object Selection Tool in Photoshop Version 23.x.x - I thought it was just my PC.Using an i7, 64Gb or RAM, RTX2070 video card - I also have a 650W power supply (minimum recommended for the Graphics Card).Looking on the internet I see this is a common issue across Multiple OS's and Devices, so hoping a resolution can be found via ADOBE before I look at spending $$$$ on Hardware fixesI have tried reinstalling Photoshop - issue happens EVERY time I click on the Object Selection Tool, and only happening since going to version 23 of Photoshop.I have reinstalled version 22.5.6 and that works fine.Tried setting up a Crashdump for Photoshop but the PC instantly restarts and NO logs created.Adobe Photoshop Version: 23.2.0 20220210.r.277 189394e x64Number of Launches: 61Operating System: Windows 11 64-bitVersion: 11 or greater 10.0.22000.493System architecture: Intel CPU Family:6, Model:14, Stepping:13 with MMX, SSE Integer, SSE FP, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, AVX
I've been using PS beta but as of the newest version reference photo does not work right. So, then I switch over to standard PS, and there's no reference photo option at all while using generative fill? What happened to it?
Whenever I save my pdf from photoshop and then proceed to upload them to a website like gelato the colours appear much darker and some details disappear as a result. It's almost like there's a darker layer ontop of my images and it ruins my ability to sell my work online. I am exporting in SRGB and when I try convert to CYMK or something like that the colours get lighter but washed out and distorted a little from the original. Below the first image is the original and the second image is what it looks like when exporting my pdf to the website this is the case with all my images. When opening the actual pdf itself on acrobat it's completely fine but when exporting it to websites is when the issue occurs I tried so many export settings. My export settings are also below
I thought I was having a problem with some kind of settings, but after a thorough purge of all Adobe related programs and files (as explained in this earlier post), followed by a re-installation, I now believe this is some kind of bug. With a completely fresh install of Photoshop 2023, Photoshop does not appear as an option when I right click on a .JPG file and select "open with..." So, I select "Choose an app on your PC" and select to open with Photoshop by finding the program on disk:However, when I press the "Open" button, I get an error message that says "Cannot associate file type with this program": This is true for any image file, such as PNG or GIF or anything else. The only file format that will open in Photoshop from File Explorer is PSD.How do I get Photoshop to appear in the "Open with" dialog, and open image files?
Description: Photoshop becomes unresponsive after using Subtractive Lasso in 'Select and Mask' tool.Reproduced on: MacBook Pro (M2 Pro, 16GB), Mac Mini (M4, 24GB), MacBook Air (M3, 16GB), MacBook Pro (M3, 8GB). Steps to reproduce: Open any image in Photoshop and choose any select tool.Go to 'Select and Mask...' and switch to Object Selection Tool (W).Choose 'Mode: Lasso'.Select a section of the image with a regular lasso.Switch to 'Subtract from selection' mode (or hold Option button) and try to subtract a small portion of the selection. Observe the result. Actual result: Photoshop becomes unresponsive. Closing 'Select and Mask' tool leads to the image being stuck in one state, you can't open other images and do anything. The only solution is to Quit Photoshop.Desired result: Photoshop doesn't get stuck. Or at least after clicking 'Cancel' in 'Select and Mask' it actually closes this mode and allows further editing.
I created a mockup and saved it on desktop. After completing the project which was working fine, i moved the original psd file to another folder. When i ran the mockup from another folder (the folder i din created the file in), and tried to update the smart object in it, the error displayed :Could not update smart object files because the file was not found. when i again moved the file to the old location (desktop), it starder working properly. the smart object was updating properly. how can i move my psd file and still work without such error?
Not able to open open a few psds, getting this error Could not open “RAM5DC_LH_edit.psd” because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the ‘Get Info’ command in the Finder to ensure the file is unlocked and you have permission to access the file. If the problem persists, save the document to a different file or duplicate it in the Finder. What we tried for this error resolution - 1. Gave photoshop full disk access under the preferences2. The issue is only for a few files and if the file is copied to a different location on the same file server, the issue is resolved.3. Update the Photoshop to the latest version.
Bonjour, je n'arrive pas à trouver où est-ce que l'on peut changer la taille du plan de travail sur un document que l'on apporte sur Photoshop iPad ?
Hello, Does anyone know which version of Photoshop is the last to have the option to create Normal Maps? It's an option under the "Filter" menu (it says Filter in Dutch, but I assume it will also say that in English). I am currently using 24.0.0, got a new pc last weekend and just picked one that I hoped still has it.I realize I can try them all, but it's quite a list so I'm hoping someone knows. Thanks in advance, Rob
Photoshop 2025 v26.5 was working absolutely fine, then I made the mistake of updating to the latest patch, version 26.6.0 on my M4 Mac Mini. After updating to 26.6, the actual document window is solid black - even if I open a photo or previous document... Even though the Layers and Channels palette preview thumbnails are showing what's in the document... After digging around in Preferences, I tried turning off the "Use Graphics Processing" option and relaunching Photoshop afterwards, and it's working fine again... I'm just wondering if this is a bug related to the M4 Mac Mini graphics driver compatibility with the version 26.6.0 release? And, if so, when can we expect a fix from Adobe. I've discovered the workaround for now, but obviously turning off the Graphics Processing setting will affect perfomance. Like I say, with this option switched on previously to the latest 26.6.0 release, it was working fine so it must be a
According to the "Round-trip" video dated Jan 20 2021 tutorial (on iPad PS "Learn", by Russell Brown), I should be able to:1. Open a photo in PS from LR using "Edit in Photoshop"2. Edit the photo in PS then Send to Lightroom and see it marked (in LR) as a PS file3. Send the photo back to PS (Edit in PS) and see the layers etc. This is not working. When I return to PS in Step 3, the layers have been merged.I know that LR is working with a PSD file because if I Export Original from LR, I get a PSD file. Is this supposed to work?LR iPad Version 10.3.0PS iPad Version 6.1.1IOS 18.4.1 Thanks,Marie
Does anyone have a readily available script for saving for web as optimised jpegs? i cant find one anywhere online, still learning javascript so would like to see how its done and then play around with it myself for a better understanding.I've also looked in the photoshop documentation and cant find anywhere to script 'optimize to file size'? ideally i would like the quality to differ as i would want the max file size to be 600kb for example. is this possible? its possible if i manually saveforweb?
"Constrain Proportions" checkbox not showing up in Image Size dialog box. Where did it go? I have an older version of Photoshop and it appears there, but not in my version 26.3 I attached both Image Size dialog boxes from each version so you can see what I am referring to. Please advise!
I have been successfully running Photoshop in 30 Bit Display mode on my Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti video card since 2020. I use a 10 bit test ramp image to confirm I am actually getting 10 bits per channel - if the image displays with no banding then this confirms the display is genuinely at 30 bits (10 bits per channel). Conversely, if banding is visible, this demonstrates that the display is not at 10 bits per channel. I attach the PSD file for this image here. Until recently this all worked fine. I recently noticed some unexpected banding in an image and so I checked my display using the 10 bit test ramp image. The image displayed banding when opened, which confirmed the display was not actually operating at 10 bpc. However, as soon as I moved the mouse around on the screen, the banding disappeared. When I stopped moving the mouse, it reappeared. Note, banding disappears only when the mouse cursor is moved over the document window section of the Photoshop window - that is, banding
I want to search and replace content inside text layers (e.g. X -> x). I found this code but it throws an error if there is a text layer in the file that uses the missing font. Is there any way to skip such layers?
The first suggestion is to create a graphic without coloring using tools. Then the shape layer of the graphic above is filled with colors, but it itself has no effect. I hope it can be filled with colors.Secondly, it is recommended to use tools to create a colored graphic. Then click on the fill in the upper left corner to color it, but the graphic will not produce a preview with the color selection. I hope it can generate a preview.
updated, but now I can't Save A Copy As Jpg. HELP!
I might be missing something, but earlier when I started up my photoshop my shortcut presets had changed and were back to original even though they said that they were set to my usual keybinds. I fixed that, but now my eraser shortcut isn't working nor can I find the eraser at all.
Photoshop 26.6.1 is literally unusable — pressing Ctrl + X causes an instant crash. Are you kidding me?This isn’t a beta build — it’s a production version. Why is a basic shortcut from the 1980s breaking your flagship software in 2025?Stop stuffing AI garbage into every release and start fixing your core bugs. No professional wants “Generative Fill” if the app can’t even cut a selection without crashing. It’s embarrassing.

In the latest update to PhotoShop and the Beta version, I noticed that gradient masks are no longer working like they used to (again). It's one of PhotoShop's most powerful tools, and I am incredibly frustrated that this is being tampered with. Please tell me if this can be fixed or if I need to learn a new workaround for selecting with gradients in quick mask mode.
Hello everyone, I am hoping to learn a good method for my task.Basically, I've been doing some mockup characters for a project and using some reference images for colour adjustments. What I'm trying to do is recolour my mockup character's hair (for example) to match the colour and tone depth (not just a flat dead one-tone colour overlay) of a reference character's hair colour. Horrible example but this is just to visualize my question: Let's say I liked the hair colour of the character on the left and I wanted to match that colour onto the character on the right. As you can see, low-res spritework like this only has 2 or 3 tones of colour for highlights/shadows, but there are often even more for more realistic photos and for high quality modern character art. I want to match the exact highlight/midtone/shadow of one character to another.I know I can use a hair selection and an adjustment layer to do something like "Hue/Saturation" or "Curves", but I always just end up gettin
Hello I have just had a new hard drive fitted in my computer and I've noticed that the generative expand tab is greyed out. Both in the contextual task bar and in the fill drop down box. Also I can no longer drag and drop images into Photoshop. Any ideas why? I'm using the latest version of PS and using Windows 10
