Questions

I have a mask that is a simple polygon on the top half of the screen.  Towards the end of the clip, an odd shaped object comes into view and crosses the mask line.  I want to keep this object out of the mask. Idealy I would create a new mask of the object with the rotobush and subtract it from the polygon mask, but from what I understand, rotoscoped objects can't be turned into masks. Is there a way to do that?  Maybe with the Track Matte?  I'm unfamilar with the Track matte at this time. Thanks

I've been dealing with this issue off and on for a while now. It's just become ridiculous.I'm aligning the object to center, lef,t right whatever. The thing just keeps incremental moving sideways on the x-axis. Why on earth is it doing this? there's no expressions, parenting, nothing. Just a plain image on the timeline and align is malfunctioning.NOTE: there are keyframes involved. I'm guilty of using those. 

Hello, I have a problem using my Plugin Extension called "CRT Emulator" from EZCO as well as "ROLLBACK8".I used this Plugin 1 year ago and it worked fine. THE PROBLEM: When I open the Extension there are different styles i can choose from but as soon as I choose one and try to apply a "style" the second "customization" window does not open. As well as the effect is not beeing fully applied. Ive tried everything I found on the internet to fix this issue.  I updated the Plugin. After effects. I also tried older versions of any of these.  I tried the Debug setting in the ZXP installer. I activated Scripting in AE pref. Can anyone help me out... 😞

I have made several AE comps, and saved them.When I now will open them I get a message telling that the files are missing. Why??

I have a collection of images all precomped individually (so I can replace the images in the future) and I want them to rotate around a central null in 3D space while keeping the images facing forwards. I have tried using 'value - parent.transform.orientation' on the images(child) which works but only when I use orientation on the y axis. As soon as I try and rotate it around x or z the image also follows this and faces away from the screen/world.  Any ideas? 

Hello, I use AEJuice pack manager.And I noticed that there is an option that was added when I installed the manager on my computer.You can see it in the photo! So, I was wonder how can I acheive the same thing as a developer.Thank you!  

Running AE 2017 on Windows 10, on a computer with 32GB of RAM, so that shouldn't be a problem.For some reason one of my projects has stopped updating/appearing in my composition panel. It's every single comp in the project, and none are terribly heavy. Fortunately an older version works, but that means any work done since then is gone. Any reason AE would corrupt a project? (The same project has the same results on a Macbook with 8G of RAM.) The playhead is where it's supposed to be, the magnification is good, you can actually see layer outlines in wireframe mode. I've tried purging the cache. It just no longer talks to the composition panel. Any ideas?

Hello, I was trying to open an old file of an animation I did and when I did nothing was playing there weren't even thumbnails of the individual scenes and it seemed like there was no way to play it. Is there any way to fix this? I don't have this work saved anywhere I'm kind of desperate and devastated and I am not tech savvy. 

I've been trawling through the internet to get to the bottom of this but cannot find it anywhere, sorry if I just wasn't looking hard enough and there's and easy answer.Premiere has some great keyboard functionality now but AE not so much. I have found I can change my shortcuts in the text file but I just can't find something that resembles something similar to Premiere's selecting at playhead feature.Specifically I want to be able to have my playhead over an exact keyframe so I can select it to be able to manipulate it without having to click it with my mouse. That way I can keep my hands on the keyboard without constantly having to go back and forth. The work I'm currently doing means i'll often have to make position changes (simples ones) but many of them and I'm looking to make it as less repetitive as possible and having to go back to the mouse less if I mess up a keyframe. I can add new ones with shortcuts etc but cannot reselect without the mouse. Any ideas?

So I've been having this issue for a year or so now. I'll be working in Ae and after a period of time (usually a few minutes) the composition window won't update with the changes. It'll be stuck on the frame. Preview rendering doesn't help. I can see the green line rendering but the viewport doesn't update. The only solve is to restart Ae. It's getting a little old now, and happens on my work and home workstations. They're both Windows, both running the latest and greatest Ae, and both quite different spec: one has a 3080 Ti, the other a 1060. Anyone know what on earth is going on?

HiI get this error every time the playhead reaches a specific comp that has Expressions, PSD layers, TEXT layers and Shape Layers.Since there are many thing inside, i'm having problems identifying the issue.I cannot enter the comp, because every time i get inside (or when the playhead reaches it from any level) After Effects crashes.I never saw that before and did not find anyone with that issue.EDIT:So i finally got inside the comp where there was a shape layer with one Round Rectangle that had this script inside it's "size" property:x = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[0];y = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[1];txt = thisComp.layer("TYPE TEXT HERE").text.sourceText;Y = yif(txt.length > 35){ Y = y+40 }if(txt.length > 60) { Y= y+50 } [x,Y]Basically what the script did, was to make the box bigger in height every time the Text Layer(which is a box text) had a line break.Erasing this Expression made the problem go away.Any clues?ThanksFe

Hi everybody!I hope you can help me on something. Im using Camera 3D Tracker on a clip, I have analyse it and in the category ''show track point'' I selected 2d source because those point fit more with the mouvement of the clip. The probleme is that, compared to 3D solved, I can't right click on those point to create a null from them. The only option they give me when I right click on them is to delete them. I wanna know how to use the track point in 2d source mode!Thanks in advance ☺Marie-Christine Laniel

Hello, I have a problem with Sztos font in After Effects. Font is not showing in character panel. I've checked in Illustrator and Photoshop and there is working, also in Figma. I made update of After Effects and still font is not showing. Do you know why? Thanks

I've seen a ton of posts about the same problem. How is it that Adobe has ignored this critical issue for such a long time? I'm talking about the playhead. It doesn't move. I can see the preview and hear the audio, just the playhead won't move. It's not the first time this has happened to me. In fact it happens quite frequently, as soon as the projects get big enough I get this bug, although I am not sure what actually triggers it. After looking through the many posts about this very issue on this forum, I've yet to find a solution. If anyone knows a fix or a workaround please let me know. And ADOBE FIX THIS BUG PLEASE, it's embarrasing how we've had the same bug  since  2018. After following this Youtube tutorial about how to make text boxes perfectly match the text. I've run into an issue I can't solve. At this point in the video, the narrator explains how to animate the text box perfectly following the text, but adds that you need to then pickwhip the box's Position expression to the Box's anchorpoint and add "+transform.anchorpoint" to the text box's position expression if you wish to have the text box reveal itself from left to right as opposed to expanding from the center outward. The problem is that when I apply this line to the expression, it cause my text to no longer be centered to the text box. Tearing my hair out because I can't figure out what's causing this issue. J'ai un soucis avec mon animation,Je souhaiterais que le trait apparaisse comme s'il était "dessiné",Mais voila ce qui apparait : contour en premier et dans tous les sens...(J'ai aussi mis en photo les réglages)J'ai compris qu'apparement il fallait créer un second calque en créant une forme "contour" (et non remplie) comme masque mais je ne comprends pas comment procéder...Si vous avez la solution ça serait incroyable !

I'm trying to import an illustrator file into after effects for animating but when I import the ai file into after effects, all my layers come in as 1x1.

I'm importing svg from figma - some images don't come through, so I put them in manually. Then save as illustrator. However on import to AE the images come out shifted like so:And this is what they look like in Illustrator:What gives? Anything came accross this? It literally started happening today. 

Details I'm currently using a PC, not MAC Resolution/Down Sample Popup: Full Fast Previews: Adaptive Res I cant read computers but I've attached a screenshot of how much RAM is being saved/used for Adobe/AE I imported AI files into AE and when I was moving the files in the composition, nothing was blurry until I added an Effect (wiggle) onto one of the AI files. After that whenver I pressed play on my composition, it would be extremely blurry and would only become clear after I paused it.    I made a new project and tried to redo everything but its still blurry. After that attempt went wrong, I went to the original AE project and changed all the AI files all into Shapes...    Idk how to fix it back to without the blurriness T^T I've tried adjusted the Resolution/Down Sample Popup, Fast Previews, and turned on the "Continuously Rasterized" star layer thingy. I feel like the RAM might be the issue, but I'm not sure where to begin @-@ Please help!   [Abuse

I'm having an issue with preview in After Effects. When I first open a project, the preview works normally for a few moments. But after that, it stops working, whenever I press play or hit the spacebar, it only plays a single frame and then stops.I've tried clearing the cache and restarting the app, but the issue keeps coming back. Has anyone faced something similar or know a fix?
