I was editing last night, saved, and when I tried to open the project again today it showed the After Effects missing data in file (33:4) error even though I know for a fact that nothing is missing. I searched online, and apparently this just happens whenever you save after using the roto brush and the only way to re-access your project is to download an older version and open it on there. But after effects is no longer is allowing downloads of any version previous to v22.0 (the version I have.) I'm seriously considering pirating an older version just to fix this, so give me advice before I probably end up with a virus. I also have no autosaved back ups of the project either.

So I have this expression that's supposed to make my shape resize based on the text size. But for some reason, it doesn’t fully cover the text — it only covers part of it. I'm not very experienced with expressions, so I really can't figure out what's wrong. I put this expression in Rectangle Path - Size. Hi all,I’m working on a project where a 3D animated book (opening slightly, with a light camera move) is rendered in Blender and imported into After Effects as a .mov file.I’ve used AE’s 3D Camera Tracker to create a null that follows the book cover quite well. I then parent a precomp text layer to that null. However, once the book begins to open, the text drifts or detaches slightly from the cover.I’ve tried:Parenting a precomp to the nullUsing Mocha AE for trackingCorner pin + Mesh WarpBut I haven’t found a stable solution. I want the text to appear as if it’s printed on the cover – moving along with the perspective of the book throughout the animation.Important constraints:The solution must stay within After Effects.No external plugins (like Mocha Pro).Text should remain editable in the comp.Question:What’s the most reliable method to attach editable text to a moving book cover, based on a tracked null, without using plugins?Thanks in advance for your input.

 Hello,Has After Effects dropped support for PNG files in version 25.3.1? I opened a project I had been working on in the previous version, and all of the PNGs are showing as offline. When I attempt to relink them, I get an error stating that PNG is not a supported file type.These files were created in Photoshop, and I've never had issues with using PNGs—especially for 3D assets and transparency. To troubleshoot, I created a brand-new project, but PNG still isn’t even an import option.I’ve already reinstalled AE, but the issue persists. Is this a known bug or a deliberate change? When this character appears, the behavior of the AfterEffect stops completely. This window continues to appear even when you clear it, and you eventually have to force After Effects to quit from the Task Manager.Is there a workaround for this issue?I don't get this window when doing anything else, but when I use trapcode particular from maxon, this window pops up and I can't use the plugin. This didn't happen until a week ago, but it's been happening since then.It's very frustrating.If I do it in a new project file with nothing, it runs fine, but when I create a SOLID to run particular in a project that is quite large, and run it, I get that window.Please let me know how to solve this.

 Hello, The message below appears when I try to open my After Effects app.  This is the system I'm running: I've looked up solutions and gone into Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects and select 'get info' on the folder, it appears to have read & write permissions.  The only way it appears different, is on other folders, such as Adobe Illustrator it will say my user name instead of 'system'.Does anyone have a solution for opening AE? ThanksRob

Whether it is two colors or a color and transparency, what the gradient slider is showing seems to happen only between the middle of the shape and a bit to the right side. Is there some kind of range selection that I'm missing?I would post other pics, but I get a "forbidden" error message.Thanks for any help.

Hi! I’m just getting started with the After Effects C++ SDK. Over the past four months I’ve been working on a plugin and have completed most of it. To optimize performance since the plugin is GPU intensive, I implemented a timer thread that fires whenever the size of a solid changes. This thread suppresses updates for ten seconds so that the heavy computation doesn’t run on every rapid, consecutive resize. I was just wondering if there’s a more AE friendly method of achieving this. I’ve been investigatingAEGP_GetUniqueCommand(AEGP_Command *unique_commandP);in the AEGP_CommandSuite1, I thought I could intercept when the user opens the Solid Settings dialog, suspend updates, and then re-enable updates upon closing. If I could get the Solid Settings window handle and attach a callback to it, that might be a better solution, but I can’t figure out how to make it work. If such a solution exists, could someone point me in the right direction?

I am using after effects CS6 (this is what is installed on my work computer) using it for animation, I can render the audio for preview but when I try to export with audio it freezes and after 10 minutes it says that the output server stopped responding. It doesn't render at all during that time. I tried changing output formats and emptying disk cache but it didn't help. I don't know understand what the problem is, could it just be because it is an old version of the program? 

Hi,see in the screenshot below, all layers at some point disappeared of the timeline. I tried to select all and click on u" to reveal properties and try to make them appear. It did not work. I still see they are there (on the left, the file is here) and I can see the elements in the video but I cannot control the layer to add keyframes... what happened?  thank you, 

Hey, I’m buying an M4 laptop for work - it’s all low impact infographics type stuff, so I’m not worried about power, I just want it to last a couple years. I'm thinking of either an M4 with 32 GB RAM or M4 pro with 24 - can someone in Adobe world please let me know if 24 GB RAM will meet the system requirements for the next couple of years? 💲

TLDR: i have two layers (A and B) and each has a mask. The masks dont even intersect but for whatever reason layer A is still blocking layer B that is  underneath 

There is a shortcut to activate maximize mode, but I need this to be the default mode when opening AE, is this possible? thanks.

I'm a long-time InDesign user trying to help my company's motion graphics team get more use out the CC libraries that our print designers use all the time. We have robust Paragraph and Character Styles in our CC libraries, but I can't find any definitive information about whether they are accessible in After Effects or not. They appear greyed out in the Library panel, so I'm thinking they aren't usable but that seems crazy that something so useful would be cut off from a group who still uses type so much. Am I missing something or are After Effects users really limited to shared colors and graphics in CC libraries? 

I know two ways:The Maximize Panel shortcut tilde will not go full screen all the way. Then there is the Preview Panel where I can check box "Full Screen" so that the spacebar will launch me on and off full screen. But then I'm bound to that behavior unless I uncheck the box again. Half the times I want it to preview fullscreen and the other half not. Having to use the mouse to check and uncheck that box... feels like there should a method that is quicker and easier

I am using premier and masking on AE but when I save after masking in AE, the video clip on premier gets displayed to the left. I don't know why. Everything is same the frame rate size of composition.

Hi. My original comp was set to 30 seconds. I quickly ran out of space. So I went into the comp prefs and changed the duration from 30 to 90 secs. Then, I continued animating into the additional 60-second area. Now, when I play back the animation, the comp goes blank after 30 secs, even though the opacity on all the elements is turned up to 100%. How can I fix this?

Bonjour,Je début avec After Effect et pour le plaisir j'ai essayé de suivre un tuto.Sur ce tuto, on demande à plusieurs reprises de faire un double-cli sur une forme (elipse) et la forme va se mettre par défaut centrée et aux proportions de la composition.Si je le fais, ma forme sera centrée, mais elle dépassera le format de ma composition (envi. 200% plus grande, en gros mon elipse ne sera qu'un fond ou un bord non visible, il faudra que je la réduise pour la voir).Comment puis-je corriger pour que mon elipse prenne les dimenions de ma compostion automatique et pas en allant sur transformer...taille....etc car pour la suite de mon tuto, la forme devient un masque et avec la réduction de taille ça ne match pas

How to create a planet in Blender and how that compares to ones you can make in After Effects. This tutorial shows how to create a realistic 3D planet using Blender, starting from a simple sphere and adding textures and rings. This Review / Tutorial is slightly different to my usual videos. After publishing many tutorials on how to create planets in After Effects, whether directly or using Video Copilot Orb or Maxon Cinema4D Lite, I thought it was time to tackle Blender. In the main part of this video, I show how to create and texture a sphere, including how to use the Shading Node editor and how to change a Height or Bump map into a Normal map to add displacement. Then I go on to show how to create clouds and atmosphere. Once they are complete, I then add a rocky ring and then a "regular" thin ring band, like you might see on Saturn. Since AE 2025 came along, I keep getting this error message during startup on my Mac: After EffectsAfter Effects warning: The following plugins have failed to load. Please reinstall these plugins:/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/ NeuralEnhancementSuite.plugin I don't know if I need that plugin, or how to make the error message go away. Is that easy to do?
