Questions

Since the update when I hold the option key on any tool I no longer get the alternate function (i.e. zoom out on the zoom tool, open select on pen tool) but a camera tool. This is infuriating and I can't see where to change it back in preferences or keybaord shortcuts, can anyone help?

Buongiorno, ogni volta che apro after effects appare questo errore "after effects errore impossibile analizzare la forma maschera negli appunti". Succede anche quando apro le preferenze, e altre volte mentre sto lavorando.Qualcuno potrebbe aiutarmi? Non so come fare. Grazie

Bonjour à tous.J'ai créé un MOGRT avec After Effects où j'ai deux compositions. J'ai créé un checkbox pour choisir laquelle des 2 activer. Mais une fois dans Premiere Pro, impossible d'activer ou de désactiver. Seule la première composition s'affiche masquant l'autre si je voulais activer l'autre.Comme je suis débutant avec les MOGRT, voici ce que j'ai fait : 1. ajouter de l'effet checkbox control sur chaque composition2. lien de l'opacité (effect("Checkbox Control")("Checkbox")*100) avec "checkbox" sur chaque composition3. Ajout dans Essential Graphics de l'effet "Checkbox" (On/Off).4. ExportEst-ce que j'ai loupé un truc ?Merci encore de votre aide.CordialementManu 

I am new to after effect, I know absolutely nothing about this app. I am currently trying to make a Minecraft pvp montage and the footage is somehow slowed, I have no idea why and I thought it was because rendering, it's been 3 hours since it's rendering. Hey everyone,I just got a brand new high-performance PC, but I’m having serious issues running After Effects. The app freezes as soon as I try to play back a composition — the playhead doesn’t move, and I eventually have to force quit. My setupProcessor: Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 275HX (24 cores, up to 5.4 GHz, 36MB cache)RAM: 32GB PCS PRO SODIMM DDR5 4800 MHz (2 x 16GB)GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 5070Ti – 12GB GDDR7 (DirectX 12.2)Storage: 2x 1TB PCS SSD PCIe M.2 (3500 MB/s read, 3200 MB/s write)PC: Windows 11After Effects version: Latest (Creative Cloud) What’s happening:I can launch After Effects, create new compositions, add text, layers, effects — no problem there.But when I try to preview or play the animation, the timeline/playhead doesn’t move at all.The program then becomes unresponsive and I have to force quit it.No error message, just a freeze. What I’ve tried:Restarting the computerReinstalling After EffectsUpdating GPU drivers (NVIDIA)Disabling hardware acceleration

No idea why this is happening but layer order is not being respected in a simple precomp with basic vector shapes, compare inside precomp image to precomp in other comp: Was working 100% fine on one machine, jumped over to different Windows 10 machine with same version and getting this behavior. There is also a track matte pick whipped to revealing the light blue layer along x-axis but no 3D switches are enabled that would usually do this incorrect perspective error. All just flat 2D and not being displayed correctly outside a comp on one machin for some reason.

The grey section next to the cursor and those little ][ symbols - can we hide that? It just gets in the way for me and adds nothing  

At some point an AE version stopped the ability for an apple mouse to pan via scroll, but zoom via scroll+option. I am aware in preferences you can change this in v25.3, but this only adjusts for via a pan OR zoom on the apple mouse, so this is no good. I'm hoping Adobe will allow at some point a legacy option for this in some update, but until then- does anyone one know the latest version of AE where the mouse scroll+option for zoom was still an option? I installed a 24.1 but it didnt seem to work.

I'm not trying to bag on the Flowchart view comp window, but I've been using AE for years, and I don't use it. Can anyone share where it really added value for the project?

I'm trying to figure out how to apply an effect (time displacement) to my clip based on the brightness of the clip. In areas where the image is bright, the effect should be fully at work. In areas where the image is dark the effect shouldn't be applied. Could anyone help me with a process to do this? 

Anyone know how to create this text skew effect. If I animate and use skew it does using the top of the text but the bottom stays in the same spot. Thanks

I keep facing the problem, that After Effects as well as Premiere are crashing on startup. This is only happening on the newest version of 25.x, when I install an old version like 23.x, this problem wont occure.I've tried following potential solutions I've found in the www, unfortunately without success:- updating nvidia drivers- removing plug-ins from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore- resetting/removing preferences- uninstalling and reinstalling That's my rig:- Intel Xeon E5-1650 v4- GTX 1080 Ti- 32GB RAM- Windows 10 Version 22H2 Anyone got any recomondations how to solve this problem?Appreciate your help!  

Buongiorno a tutti, mi si presenta il seguente problema nell'utilizzare After effects aggiornato all'ultima versione: Praticamente il mouse si muove al rallentatore e se ne va per i fatti suoi, cosa che non succede in nessun altro programma. Lavoro benisimo in Premiere Pro, in Photoshop.... Come mai mi succede questo solo in After Effects?

I got this when I tried to update the latest AF.  This happends randomly on any update from Adobe.  I have to reinstall the cloud app to fix it. 

I am getting completely ignored when it comes to buffer expansion via SmartFX and I do not know why. Here is what I learned until now: - Both rects must be set to the expanded rect- Account for buffer expansion in SmartRender Here is the issue I currently have (expanding the buffer 200 pixels in each direction): The buffer only expands in the top-left part and it looks smth like this: It should clearly look something like this instead: Now, absolutely no one wants to help, I don't have the slighest idea why this happens. The buffer expands in the top-left direction but it shrinks in the bottom-left direction. It does not make any sense. I've noticed only recently that whenever I opened After Effects, I'd consistently get a pop-up that warns me about my disk cache being almost full, and like normal I purge all memory and disk cache like everyone else would. But although it would say 0KB after doing so, if I close the application and open it up again, the pop-up comes back without issue, and when I try to clear it, it would say (insert number) GB once again even after I cleared it.  If someone can give me some advice, please let me know! I'd greatly appreciate it.I'm using After Effects 2023 on an i7 2022.     

I've got a 32 core threadripper with 256gb ram 10gb graphics cardrunning after effects beta, just installed.Have it set to multiprocessor render.while rendering, either on render cue or media encoder:Max cpu use around 45% but consistently around 18%RAM usage around 30 - 50%GPU usage around 1-2%On my smaller machine - 6 core, 64gb ram, I was hitting close to 100 percent CPU usage.I'm exporting PNG sequences from After Effects, tried quicktime and not much difference.Any ideas of how to get all 32 cores working?

But instead of the two characters, they want two puzzle pieces like this https://in.pinterest.com/pin/20758848277417701/ walking in and then getting into the puzzle. and then I also need to know who to do the heart+ puzzle animation at the 0:31-0:36. I can use after effects, photoshop, and illustrator. i just don't know how to go about this. Any help appreciated.  So far what I have.An illustrator file of a jigsaw puzzle. However, that doesn't have the pieces that match the bride and groom shape. In the sense, the groom has 1 head and 3 "joinings" and the bride has 1 head, 2 hands and only one joining. And the jigsaw puzzle is all the same. two heads, two joining. How do I change that. If possible please give as detailed an explanation as you can. Apologies if this is very difficult to understand. It's 2AM where I am and I have no idea what to do.

I had downloaded after effects 2025 and in just day one i am facing issues like this it keeps saying that "Chunk in file too big-Probably unsupported file version (33::7).How should i fix this problem pls reply as soon as possible as i can't use my plugins for my video which are very nessesary.Pls fix this issue.

Good afternoon. What is the proper way to edit a Rotobrushed layer after Effects Controls have been added?  With Effects Controls turned on, the mask line is warped to accommodate the effects and using the brush seems strange.  With Effect Controls reset,  the mask is a straight line again but seems to have migrated from its original position.  What happens is this:  After rotobrushing a layer, I turn on the Effects Controls, review my work, make a list of changes, then reset Effect Controls to begin editing; but my mask seems to have jumped around and I have to go through the review process again. Just looking for a work flow that makes sense.  Thanks so much.

Since version 17 of After Effects, this shortcut no longer works... A very annoying problem for a super useful shortcut. Is version 17 have an anniversary?The shortcut setup is correct, if I click the 3 keyboards the After Keyboard shows me that it should work on shortcut preferences. But not works.I updated to version 18.2.1 right now and the problem continues. By the way, the keyboard shortcuts panel only shows me the correct function of the keys if I don't click ctrl first then shift or D. If I click ctrl first, it doesn't recognize either the shortcut. In the timeline it doesn't matter, it doesn't work anyway as you can see in the gif attached.

Bonjour,  Je vous écris parce qu'après une brève recherche je n'ai pas trouvé de solutions à mon problème sur After Effect..Alors voila j'ai commencé un projet, un jour je l'ouvre et je réalise que je ne peux plus afficher le point d'ancrage sur mon texte et cela sur tous les textes. Impossible d'afficher l'outil de déplacement arrière et cela, même avec le raccourcis (Y) . Je pense que cela est dû à une mauvais manipulation de ma part mais impossible de trouver dans les paramètres ou je pourrais le réafficher. Avez vous une solution pour ce soucis ? Je rappelle que je suis sur la dernière version d'After Effect !  Merci d'avance ! 

Hi. I'm having an issue with a single layer in an animation which I am exporting through bodymovin.I am using multiple track matte layers that sit underneath each shape layer of the penguin. The pink outline is the shape layer I am using with inverted alpha matte layers. This all plays perfectly in after effects but when I export out through bodymovin, the white belly does not mask (see screenshot on beige background).Is there a way of sorting this? I have tried auto tracing the layer and masking it, precomping the layer and masking, adding the white belly layer into the body layer so that it moves with it, and parenting the white belly layer to the body and masking. I have also tried putting the mask on a solid layer, and also creating a mask that is the opposite shape of what i've drawn, covering the area that the penguin is diving.I'm using After Effects 25.4. Any help would be so greatful.Thanks!
