I'm trying to understand how I can extract the preview JPEG from a DNG created with the DNG Converter and be SURE I am getting the preview JPEG not a JPEG created from the raw file. I just did some tests creating DNGs using the DNG converter (v16) where I generated some DNGs with Large JPEG preview embedded and some with no preview. I do see the the DNGs without a preview JPEG are smaller, so it does seem like there no preview JPEG in them. However, when I use EXIFTOOL to extract the preview image using "exiftool -b -PreviewImage -w .jpg" I DO get JPEGs for SOME of the DNGs that did not have a preview image embedded in them - which I did not expect to see.Specifically, Compressed DNGs with no preview JPEG did result in exiftool outputting a preview image, while Uncompressed DNGs did not. The JPEG that was output from the Compressed DNGs is very small (8kb vs 50kb for those with preview images). Can anyone explain why this would be the case? I just want to extra

In doing some testing with the DNG Converter, I'm seeing file size differences in the resulting DNGs tied to the preview image size that I can't understand. If I convert the same RAW file with a Large preview image and with No preview image I am consistently seeing size differences of 6-7 megabytes between the resulting files (i.e. the DNG with the Large preview images is 5-7 megabytes larger). This is outputting Camera Raw 14 compatible images, if I switch to 15.3 compatibility the size difference goes down to 2-3 megs. The file size delta is fairly consistent if I go between Lossey compressed DNGs and Uncompressed -  the one with the Preview is always a few megs bigger.If I use exiftool to extract the preview image (using exiftool -b -PreviewImage -w .jpg), the jpg file is only around 50 kb for the DNGs that have the Large preview image embedded.Why is the DNG file with the embedded preview image so much larger when the preview JPG is only 50KB?Here are some actua

Noise reduction does not work on my MacBook running Sonoma 14.1.1 (23B81) still works on my old iMac.I just get the error message  "There was an unknown error." Work OK on earlier OSX on my Macbook.I have tried re-installing Photoshop. Can not see how to re-install Camera Raw.

Hi! I have some issue with xmp presets in Camera Raw.They are in the correct "Settings" folder, but they don't show up in Camera Raw.There should be 753 but only 2 appear (photo attached). Never happened before! Please someone help me!Thank you 

I have a Canon EOS R. In Lightroom I have camera profiles (Camera Neutral, Camera Landscape, Camera Faithful, etc.)  Up until recently when I chose one of these profiles for an image then opened it into photoshop it rendered the profile correctly.  Today I opened an image from a Canon EOS R in Lightroom, chose the Camera Landscape v2 profile, made some adjustments then opened it directly into photoshop.  The image was very washed out.  After doing some sleuthing I opened the image from the raw .CR3 file directly into Photoshop using Camera Raw.  At the profile I had a yellow alert triangle, when I moused over it the tooltip read "Profile not installed, rendering is incorrect".   How can I have a profile installed in Lightroom and not in camera raw?  And why suddenly has it disappeared.  If I "bake" the file to DNG it looks correct, and certainly, I can get my "pop" back in PS but it's a lot more work that I really should not have to do.&nbsp

I've seen this posted many times over the years when searching, but I was wondering if there is any plan to address this issue?   Nikon mirrorless cameras, like Z7 ii, have the profiles built into the lens. So I have no ability to apply or unapply the lens profile in ACR. Now that's not a big deal, since 99% of the time I want the profile applied. However, ACR is not properly reading the profile. If I use Nikon's proprietary raw file reader, NX Studio, it properly applies the profile and the image quality is much improved. Among issues, ACR does not read/correct the vignetting.   As it stands, ACR is essentially useless with the camera.   Will this be resolved any time in the near future?   Examples attached, saving each version as jpg with nothing more than color correction and lens profiles applied. Hi,I have a 5D Mk3 and have a new PC running Adobe Creative suite, Win 10 Pro. I want to edit in ACR but says qualfying product etc. I can review and do some adobe edits in bridge but not in camera raw.  Not a lightroom fan so any update appreciated. Tried to get Adobe Camera Raw 7.1 but cant find it, Thanks

The two things creatives change the most image to image are exposure and color balance... with the new update, exposure is in a new tab labled "Light" and color balance is under "Color" - so you have to click between the new tabs on each image to edit.  This is killing my workflow. I can't be the only one to find this extremely inconvenient. It feels like the person who made this choice doesn't actually use Bridge. Poor choice.

Hello! Been working with anolder version of camera raw for years, so I am kind of new to masking (whuch by the way, WOW!) My question is, can you delete part of it, like you would do with a brush? I am attaching the zoomed in example photo i am working on here, and as you can see, the mask goes beyond the arms, and I would like to adjust that. Is there a way to do it? An eraser-like feature? Thank you in advance for tips and ideas!

Hi, has anyone encountered denoise in photoshop slows down (abt 2-3min) after you stop a previous denoise process halfway and start a new one ? I have to restart Photoshop or at times the PC to start a new denoise process to have a reasonable processing time - abt 45sec.

I can only assume this is some kind of oversight, because it makes no sense that you can now only have ONE of the Light, Color, or Effects slider windows open at a time, instead of having all three of them open as it was in previous versions. This results in a lot of wasted time toggling back and forth.  Please revert it back to all being in one window.

Something changed and I can no longer use Bridge to open a RAW file in Photoshop (Beta); instead it opens in the regular Photoshop 24.7.0.  I checked the File Type Associations in Bridge and for Sony Camera RAW (.arw) it says Adobe Photoshop 2024 25.0, which is the version for Photoshop Beta.  So why do the RAW files not open in Photoshop Beta?  If I have Photoshop Beta already open when I click open in Camera RAW, the RAW files do not shop up in Photoshop Beta.  If I then open regular Photoshop the open RAW files shows up there.  What am I doing wrong? I am using a PC running Windows 11 Home.

Hi!I used Bridge camera raw and photoshop 2 days ago, no problem.  Today I opened bridge, tried to launch camera raw and was not able to.  It gave me the message "camera raw editing is not enabled".  After looking up online I tried updating my apps. Didn't work.  Tried launching photoshop first, then bridge.  Didn't work.  If I double click on my raw images, it opens up through camera raw, but if i go through bridge, select image and click camera raw, i get the message.  The double click also only works on raw files, but i need to use it on a few jpgs and it just isn't working.  Can someone please help, I need an answer for this sooner rather than later as I have photos due.Thank you!

I want to use ACR in Photoshop and use the last settings applied.When I do that manually, it works ok. If I want to automate it as an Action, It doesn't work because the Action saves a list of specific values and not a group of values (that could be stored in Preferences). That group of values could be a file that could always save the last specification usage of ACR in PS. For example, Liquify saves the last mesh used as a file on Preferences:"/Users/pedrocm/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2022 Settings/Liquify Last Mesh.psp"Then I could call it in an Action or Script, and it would work always having the last used mesh Liquify specifications.For example the code call for "Liquify Last Mesh"{"$LqMD":"/Users/pedrocm/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2022 Settings/Liquify Last Mesh.psp","_obj":"$LqFy"}If I do the same on ACR in PS, the code is not the "ACR last spec". I'm thinking of buying a Google Pixel 8 phone, but Adobe camera raw support is a must-have for me. I'm seeing all over the Internet that the Pixel 8 / Pixel 8 Pro are now supported, but if I go to the UK supported cameras listing they are not included. Go to the US site, and they are there. Hi all,I am attempting to batch crop a large number of photos using adobe camera raw, but upon saving, all of the files appear with a "_1" suffix. This is creating a lot of extra work for me because I am being forced to manually revise each title to remove the suffix.I understand why ACR does this, but it is really counter intuitive for the purposes for which I am using ACR. I am working out of a folder in which I need to maintain the hierarchy while batch cropping, and there are around 300 sub-folders, so specifying a new location to save the crops will not work either, as I would have to create a unique location for each sub-folder, and yet still replace the old files manually. This takes FOREVER, and honestly defeats the purpose of me batch processing image crops in the first place. I am using ACR because I often need to edit each crop before saving, and ACR is the only program I know of that will allow me to adjust each crop independently, as opposed to applying a generic center-we

Adobe insists on tweaking Camera Raw in ways that add hours everyday to my workflow. Breaking up the color adjustment menu from the Basic adjustments is a clever idea for some coder - and TOTALLY adds extra steps to my workflow. The whole menu system in Camera Raw should be customizeable. Same with being able to rate an image in bridge without having to hold onto the command button. You used to be able to disable that being necessary. Then someone thought that was uneccessary. WHY??? Now my ratings don't always work and it is a mess.   PLEASE don't mess up something that is not broken!!

This bug has happened to me multiple times on ACR 15.0. I open multiple photos to edit and then randomly I'll try to move onto the next image but the screen still displays the previous one. No matter which image I select from the side bar, the image on the screen is still the same photo it got stuck on. I can save that image as a JPG, I can save any of the previous images, or ones I have yet to edit (even though they don't display on the edit screen) and they show up in the folder they're saved to, however I can't click "Done" to save the settings on all of the images I have opened, I can't click  the "open" button which would also save the edits I had previously done and open the current photo in Photoshop. My only option is to click "Cancel" which for some reason actually works.  I get the prompt that pops up asking if I want to cancel all changes and dismiss camera raw when I click cancel, however neither the Done or Open buttons do anything when pressed. I've had this problem before but now it's back with vengence! I shoot interiors so work with between 2 and 20 layers normally. I adjust shadows, highlights and shadows on Camera RAW via Bridge and then... Tools > Photoshop > "Load Files into Photoshop as Layers" Quite often (again) the changes I make in Camera RAW don't follow through to Photoshop.i.e the first layer I increase brightness and reduce shadows but in Photoshop the layer just shows as if I haven't made any adjustments. It's costing me hours and hours of work. Can anyone help please? I posted several months ago but nobody had any ideas. Adobe please?? I haven't made any changes, my PS and all apps are up to date and working on an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) 3.1 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i540 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 The only sollution I can find is to re-start my iMac but that's not suitable as I'd spend hours of my day re-starting. Thanks

I recently bought a new camera – FujiFilm's X-S20. With my previous Nikon camera I used to drag the raw files into Photoshop and edit them in Camera Raw before exporting out jpegs. I've done the same with initial photos off my new camera and they are looking absolutely woeful.   I've attached two jpegs, one was processed in camera and the other has come via the raw. All I've done to make it is drag the raw file into Camera Raw, select the Provia/Standard camera profile, open the file in Photoshop, convert it to 8bit then save out a jpeg.   As you can see the images I'm getting from Camera Raw are blurry/lack sharpness. It's less apparent in this image but a lot of them have a strange glow to them. I'm using Camera Raw 16.0.1 with Photoshop 23.5.3 (2022).   Is there anything that can be done about this? Cheers.

Recentemente fiz a atualização do Ps, Camera Raw e etc.... Porém após essa atualização quando clico para abrir o camera raw, ele literamente trava e sou obrigado a forçar o fechamento do programa.  Após a atualização tbm qualquer imagem em alta qualidade que exporto para o PS ele trava e sou obrigado a fechar o programa pelo gerenciado de tarefas.  Na atulização antiga o CAMERA RAW funcionava peerfeitamente, como voltar ? o que fazer? uso Windows
