I'm using the latest Framemaker ( 17.0.2.431 ) and just installed bigger 32' dual monitors. Its amazing to see things bigger on screen, but I was wondering if there was a way to set the page view size or page zoom when FM opens a document? I'd much rather a single page take up the entire viewable area than to see multiple pages or only a section of another page. Currently, when FM opens a document it opens at 100%. That was fine on my older 24" monitors. 100% on my new monitors displays either 2 pages next to each other or 1/4 of the following page. If there was a way to set the default page view to 120% or to Fit Page In Window, that would be great. I just haven't been able to find a way to set it. 

HiI am very new to the world of Xliff, but not to Framemaker. I wish to look at our current process for translation which is to send our translation comany our FM files. They convert to mif, create the translations, recompile the FM files through a DTP outlet and send the completed translated FM files back to us along with a translated pdf. Systems works well and has done for years.However, I would like to trim some time and cost from the process if possible by using Xliff. I wasnt to send them the Xliff and receive translated Xliff back. I am hoping the DTP time wil l ne negligible, albeit at our end.Problem we are having is that Framemaker is just not allowing me to export an Xliff. I have tried a full book, a chapter and even a one page test doc with limited english text entered. All failed.Framemaker Version: 17.0.3.546Getting the following error:Has anyone come across this or similar? So, here at the company I work, we have been using FrameMaker for decades. All of your legacy and new products are developed together with a PDF manual created in Adobe FrameMaker. This are long documents (200+ pages), and I have been using all the best practices in my documents. All my Paragraph, Character and Table catalogs are clean and lean. I'm using very litte variables and very little cross reference formats. You can see the template I'm using for the manuals I create. Now, all of your manuals require translations into other languages. The way we work is that we send the FrameMaker files to an external agency and they handle the translations. This is extremely time consuming and expensive. We are exploring other options, and we would like to use DeepL to handle the translations (machine learning) but DeepL requires XLIFF files. We can also try to use other tools with better DeepL integration instead of FrameMaker, but the work would be monumental to just ditch FrameMak

I have been trying to troubleshoot an xliff issue which causes FrameMaker to crash. The issues seems to be related to the part of the template which is "document properties". But I have not been able to find a precise description of what - exactly - settings constitutes a documents properties. Sidehead, pagination setup, PDF properties, View options are File Info What else is there? 

Adobe states that JRE 8 is a system requirement for FrameMaker. If I understand it correctly, Oracle has recently introduced an employee-based licensing model, where a company now must purchase licenses for all employees, regardless of whether they use Java or not. For large organizations, this easily amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Has anyone here done any ramifications analyses and/or investigations into other vendors' Java software? Mats

I have some problematic character styles that I believe are causing some paragraph styles from staying when I close and reopen the document.There are several character styles that are checked (and I presume applied to a paragraph style) and I believe it is causing paragraph styles to not stay when I close and reopen the document. I am a point that every time I close the document and open it again, the application of the paragraph style disappears, despite the fact that when I select the text, the paragraph catalog shows that the style is applied, and shows the style has all the correct properties in the paragraph catalog (it shows the paragraph style as a 6pt font, but the text appears as 9 point).I'm assuming the problem has to do with something in the character styles. So i'm trying to uncheck the character styles. Also, ive even tried to delete some of these character formats and I've gone through the process of doing so, and the delete doesn't take effect.I've looked on the interne

Hi all,When I log into my Adobe account, I can see FrameMaker as one of the apps in my plan, but it is not available when I select View all apps? And if I click (1)OTHERS in the page with the apps, I get an error.My FrameMaker 17 works fine, but is not automatically updated, that's why I wanted to access it in my Adobe account.I also have the Creative Suite in my plan and that works fine, with all the apps being updated automatically.Does anyone have an idea why this is happening, and what I can do? Hello, everyone. Can someone please help me hyperlink a different document within a book? I am trying to hyperlink the word Support and have the viewer directed to the Support document which is in the same document.  I am trying the hyperlink feature but it seems I'm doing something wrong. I'm sorry in advance for the inconvenience. 

I have a structured framemaker document which is comprised of several other documents (source files). In my main document under the name of the chapter the spacing after the first line of the first paragraph is bigger than set by the formatting style. This problem seems to be recurring for the first paragraph of each highest level chapter. Inside of the source file the lines are spaced correctly. I check the formatting of my main document and the source file and they seem to be matching, so I assume it is a problem with the main document, but I cannot figure what could be wrong. See the attached pictures for more clarity. Moreover, there are cases when this spacing issue does not occur, this is also shown in an attached picture.  

ALL of my table and figure elements in the DITA XML documents include <title>Title Name</title> elements. On conversion, random titles are blank. Once in a while, after complete shutdown and reboot, All of the titles get included but it is not consistent. Subsequent conversions will randomly miss table titles and never the same ones.

I have one part of a generated book, Appendicies, that the pagination template as defined should restart the page numbering. The first appendix, Appendix A, continues from the previous book chapter. The subsequant appendixes, B through O, do restart at 1. All templates in the book are define for Double-sided, Delete extra pages. Refresh book doesn't correct issue. Master pages are assigned in Reference page Structured Master Page Element table definition and work properly with Refresh. Ony thing thats corrects is a manual right-click > Numbering > Select radio button to First Page (only appendix with "Continue Numbering" as default (UGH!)) and resetting page to start at 1. Painful.

I have examined all of the FrameMaker book template Master pages in detail. The Frontmatter.Tpl has 3 master pages. When the book is generated from XML, the "cover" page in the frontmatter contains 9 master pages. and the header font size is 11pt. NOWHERE in any of the book templates is there a template with 9 pages or a header with 11pt font. Where can the cover.fm document be getting that information?

Hello,In FM, I have noticed a problem of hyphenation, where there is an empty space after the " - ", like here (see blue arrow). Why ? 

Using FrameMaker  2019 and it crashes when i Apply Book Element to Untitled Book. 

I found a thread on this and went to this site... http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2011/07/create-a-book-packager-using-extendscript.html  But....I am still unsure on how to use it. I see I have extenscript in our CS5 suite. But I don't see an archive script. Thanks for the help! ls

I was asked to update a FrameMaker 10 document but had no access to the original author or any information about the existing book. I have done so, but now many images and other elements are no longer needed and it is not clear how I can separate them out. Many other media applications offer the option to save a copy of an entire work and all of the elements it uses to a separate location, thus copying only those items that are actually used and leaving behind those that are obsoleted. Is there a way to do this in FM10? I can't find one.thanks!Larry the O

I have a button that copies the content of a caption to clipboard with the below code. const element = document.getElementById("txtCaption");let text = element.getAttribute("aria-label");alert(text);navigator.clipboard.writeText(text); This works fines in project preview but does not work in Live Preview and poublished output. The issue is with the last line. Can anyony help please?  

Many years ago I was excited when Adobe acquired Buzzword, but it seems to have been deprecated. I am a Mac user at home, and would love to be able to use Frame natively. I know, I know. Is there any thought to putting Frame in the cloud as an editor? Or Frame light? Making it platform agnostic and available in a browswer would be phenomenal. Maybe run AI across the code base and upgrade the IDE?

I am working with older documents that have invalid elements. I was hoping there might be a way to change them in bulk rather than manually editing each element. I have a conversion table of the invalid elements and their current elements for a translation but no real way to push these updates through the full doc.  I know there is the scripting function in FrameMaker but since I've never coded in Java I'd be starting from scratch and would need help with that if anyone can point me in the right direction. 

Our developers have highlighted that content in our documentation with subscripts (for example - for the term tSTAB_DB - where "STAB_DB" is subscript) containing underscores is breaking across two lines.For example "tstab_db" breaks at the underscore and appears on 2 lines as if a carriage return were present (when copied with formatting and pasted).Also, these terms are not searchable in a PDF. Searches for complete terms are inconsistent. You can search on "tstab" but not for "tstab_db". How should this content be entered into FM so that this does not happen when accessing the content in a PDF?

The EDD's text format rules for the "Rubrik" element look like this:In all contexts. Use paragraph format: fontSansSerif If context is: * < Datamodul[Sprak = "Eng"] Default font properties Language: UK English Else Default font properties Language: Svenska In all contexts. Pagination properties Keep with next: Yes Placement: Across all columns and side heads This should indeed keep the title element with the next para, shouldn't it? Any hints? Mats

Hi, With FrameMaker 2022 (v17), when editing a 750 pages document converted from a previous release, I have 2 problems:   1) At start, it says "At least one original filter used for graphics is not available......" How can I find what graphic is missing or bad?   2) Regularly, Frame hangs for 30s. It's very disruptive, how can I find why and remedy to it? I use an Intel 24 core, a GEN4 NVME SSD and 128GB  memory, so resources are not the problem.   Thanks in advance for any help.

I am very new to scripts, and I just have a ponctual need.I have a document using fonts no longer available.I would like to run a script that will change the definition of all paragraphs using for example the "xxx1" font to "xxx2".That must be pretty easy, but some help would save me a lot of time learning how to write scripts. I don't know the ExtendScript language.Thanks.
