Hi, I am structuring my documents using a conversion table and an EDD. After I apply paragraph formats in the structured document, FM removes them from some paragraphs when I switch between conditional texts. When this happens, FM applies its standard format called Body to these unfortunate paragraphs. I cannot identify any pattern in which paragraphs are infected by this problem. It happens to paragraphs with and without conditional text, and body text as well as headings. The EDD has no rule that forces FM to use the Body format on any paragraphs. I have made some fruitless attempts to keep my relative sanity: - Delete and recreate the paragraphs before structuring. - Delete and recreate the paragraphs after structuring. - Remove the conditional tag before structuring and apply it afterward. Hello.As the subject of my post explains: I'm not only learning FM, but I inherited a project created in an older version of FM. (I usually am using the basics of RH to create webHelp.) Is there anyone out there willing to help me understand - at the very least:-interpret the existing Master Pages? (they don't seem to resemble what Ms. Binder's Master Pages look like in her hour long videos.)-understand how to fix the errors in the ErrorBookLog I ran? 

FrameMaker 2022 cannot find the Acrobat printer.Everytime i try to save as PDF it throws this error "Framemaker could not find Adobe PDF printer instance, which must be installed to execute Save as PDF".I tried reinstalling "Adobe Acrobat Reader" but still it wouldnt install the Adobe PDF printer and i could find the AdobePDF.inf file to manually configure the printer."Save as PDF" was working fine on FrameMaker 2017 was working fine and facing the problem since moving to FrameMaker 2022.

After upgrading to FM2022 I can't get the document title in the window header, I only get the file name there. I have not checked "Always use filename as document title" in Acrobat Reader, and older pdf's display the correct document title.

My master pages CHG1, CHG2, etc are not being applied to my doc when adding the "rev" attribute to table entry elements. The master pages are applied to the doc when adding the rev attribute to any other element - the only issue is with <entry>.  As you see in the MasterPageMap table below, the mapping info for the <entry> element is entered in the same way as the other elements, but still the master pages are not applied to the pages with revised table entries. I have installed Frame maker version 17.0.4.628 in my system. when i give publish PDF or save as PDFit give error Frame maker could not find PDF printer instance, which must be installed to execute save as PDF command. console view geting below message.Couldn't read SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\AcroDist.exeCouldn't read AcroDist\shell\open\commandCouldn't read please help in resolving this issue as soon as possible.  

My serial number is accepted, and when I try to activate the software, it says I need to connect to the internet and try again (I am already connected) or activate the software offline with a response code & my new Frame 11 serial number.  I have been using FrameMaker since version 3, and currently I have been using Frame 10 for some time. I have a FrameMaker 11 upgrade that requires a response code to activate the software.  Can I still activate the Frame 11 software? 

I would like to be able to work with this type of rulings in tables (and everywhere else, actually). Asymmetric double ruling lines. As of now we can only have double ruling lines which have the same width, but asymmetric lines would be nice. Can someone help me or share their experience on how to solve this issue? I’m trying to cancel my subscription but it won’t let me. Has anyone encountered this before or knows what I should do?

Looks so simple, but... can I create this kind of double line in FrameMaker table editor? A thick outer line with a thinner innerline. I have fiddlede around with creating custom line widths/patterns, but I can only make lines that an equal width. Can I somehow modify them?  

Hi, I had to search and replace more than 60 long numbers with other numbers. Would take time, error-prone. Therefore I wrote a short ExtendScript script to do this. (I just put the search and replace strings into an array and did not copy them from elsewhere. Easier with the help of Notepad++.) However, I always get an error message that FA_errno would be read only. I found another info here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/framemaker-discussions/are-there-situations-where-you-can-not-override-the-fa-errno-s-code/m-p/3897361 Therefore I replaced the call to FA_errno with the function. But why do I get this error message, when others obviously do not have any issues? I just updated to Frame's version 17.0.8.853 (the latest)..I'm outputting to Responsive HTML5.When I specify a term in search that returns instances of Heading1 and Heading2 that contain a comma, colon, pipe, those characters appear as their Hex equivalent. For example, the Heading1 paragraph style that reads "Log In | Change Password: Overview" on the page appears as "Log In | Change Password: Overview." Also related to Search, in some instances a result item includes the file name and its path. In this case, not only does the Header1 entry show Hex equivalents, that entry is followed by the containing file's name and path specification.  

I have xml files that I am opening in FrameMaker. My graphic element has a file attribute that imports the graphic. I would like to keep the file attribute visible in FrameMaker so I can see the path in the structure view. The file attribute doesn't appear in the structure view. Is there a Read/Write rule that will allow me to keep it on FrameMaker import?

Trying to recover from a hard disk crash, I need to run FM2019 on new Windows 11 pc.I have a FM2019 installer, but when I run set-up.exe I get a blank window, and nothing happens.  I found a similar problem, Blank screen appears while installing RoboHelp and FrameMaker 2019but the setup files aren't downloadable. (Error 404: Asset not found).My error is a bit different too, I get the blank window at once, never get to the sign-in.

As it  state: the invoice history can only be accessed for the previous 3 years via Account. I need to access invoice history prior to this time period, I need 2019 and 2020 years. How could I contact Customer Support (human), or send a request? The robot in tne chat was not helpful. Thanks

Hi, I am relatively new to FrameMaker, although I have had limited use of it for the past 7 years, but mostley doing edits to documents that have been provided to me.  I have this week spent the last few days watching FrameMaker tutorials, mostly the ones by Barb Binder on YouTube, which has given me a much better unsderstanding of FrameMaker and how it works.I have now been given the task of creating a set of Technical Mauals that I need to build a template for and I need to use information about various pieces of equipment in different orders in each manual.For example I have FM documents which contain Technical Description informatrion for the following pieces of equipment: Airconditioning Unit, Battery Charger, Fire Extinguisher, Generator, Lighting System etc. In Tech Manual 1 I need to have the Airconditioning Unit & lighting SystemIn Tech Manual 2 I need to have the Airconditioning Unit, Fire Extingisher, Generator & Lighting SystemIn Tech Manual 3 I

I have a client using a FrameMaker 10 structured workflow. At the top of their XML is an <?xml-stylesheet> processing instruction with an href to a stylesheet. Does FrameMaker use this stylesheet when the XML file is opened in FrameMaker? There are no stylesheets referenced in the XMLApplication in the structapps.fm file.

When i opened the help system, the navigation panel looked good but the content page looked small. I went to the font settings and switched to Largest, BUT all the text on the screen became smaller, around 6pt. I switched to Larger, Medium, etc, the font was much smaller. How can i make the font bigger? I hate to read small text.Is this help system generated through FrameMaker? If yes, i am very very disappointed with FrameMaker.

I inherited a publishing workflow from a company that uses Framemaker. I started my own company (and hence no loner work at the place that uses Framemaker).  Since I knew I would be converting the workflow to InDesign, I saved a bunch of the files as MIFs. However, I didn't get them all saved as MIFs. Now I need to extract text from some of the FM files, but I don't own Framemaker. And I am on a mac, so I will never own Framemaker.So, my question is this: is there a way to somehow extract the text from these old FM files? I've tried making a PDF online, but FM is not one of the file formats that Adobe supports for online conversion. Is there maybe a way to open the files in a text editor and extract the text?Or perhaps is there a reasonably priced online service that will save them as MIFs for me?Thanks for your help.

I am using FM2020, structured with DITA.I am having what appears to be same error posted in an older post (https://community.adobe.com/t5/framemaker-discussions/has-anyone-seen-this-conditional-text-error-show-hide-setting-is-inconsistent/m-p/7842474), but the solution there does not work. I am guessing that the difference is that I am using structured DITA. The error message is:    maker: Error in <filename>.fm while updating UntitledBook13.book:    maker: Show/Hide setting for DITA-Comment is inconsistent.  It does not matter what ditamap I publish, i always get this error for DITA-Comment and DITA-Prolog for all files in the DITAMAP.I have reviewed all DITA files, and used the "import format " to make them consistent (as per the above the suggestion) and that did not fix the problem.I then used "import format" to all of the template files to ensure that they were consistent with each other, and that did not fix the problem.I then us

Hi,I have an index. The page numbers are right-aligned with a tab to the right side of the text frame.When the text extends too far to the page number area, I want to insert a line break.I can get the TextRange or the TextLoc of the single characters in the text.However, I do not know how to get the distance to the text frame border.I did not find any LocX property of the TextRange or the TextLoc.How can I tackle this? I am running the new updated version of FrameMaker and it seems it has stopped generating pdf hyperlinks on miniTOCs. Am I the only one to experience this?...
