I may be overthinking it, but all I want to do is cut out the orange shape into the postcard. The postcard would have a deletion in it , from the shape of the orange design. I have no idea how to do it, man.

How can I clear the recent files which I see when I'm opening Illustrator 22.1?

Hey,I want to know if there is a trick to add a stroke to one side of a rectangle.As I know Illustrator does apply the stroke on the 4 sides auto.  

Hi There, I've been working on a file for a cople of days that's on my desktop. Today I opened the file, made some edits and hit CMD + S and saw this error... Things I've tried...Copying the art into a new document and savingSaving the new document to different disks (all local, no servers)Creating a blank document with nothing in it and saving Bascially, I can't save anything - has anyone else seen this?CheersBen

I’m trying to find a way to work with strokes the same way Shape Builder works with filled shapes — ideally without having to outline them.For example, if two strokes overlap and I want to remove or merge parts of them, I can use the Scissor Tool to cut, but then I need to manually delete segments and merge anchor points, which is pretty tedious.Is there a more efficient or intuitive way to "trim" strokes or combine them, while keeping them live and editable as strokes (not converting to outlines)?Any tips or plugins that can help with this?

As much as I love new updates I have had to revert back to the previous version due to a function that has changed. Purely because I am quite meticulous on structure and alignment. So it's not a breaking feature I might just be full of it.With the new update the Arrange artboards function now works differentely. Previously once you have set the Layout>Columns>Spacing and hit enter the pages would align centre to the canvas. Now with the new update once I hit enter it wants me to to place the selected artboards where I want them. Am I missing something as to how to centre this from here on or is this no longer vailable.

Why are .ai files not previewing with quick preview function on Mac? I've had this issue confirmed by several other users.The quick preview app on Mac is essential tool for scrolling though and identifying image files. For it to no longer work with AI files is disastrous!Help please!

Can someone please tell me the best way to copy and center artwork on the artboard using the SDK? I can copy the art just fine and tried everything that I can think of but cannot get the artwork to center. I'm currently using a translation matrix for x, y with no luck. I have the code written already through script which works fine (not with any matrix, just plain old math to calculate x, y), but decided to rewrite the code as a C++ plugin. I'm going to need to scale the artwork a bit as well, but struggling with positioning at the moment. So, is this the best way (transformation/translation matrix) to do what I need or someone has another way?

Please enable the pen rotation feature on the iPad 2024 and the auto-rotation feature in Illustrator Updater. Because the brush settings do not have an option for the barrel roll section.<Title renamed by MOD>

Hello everyone, I have bought an windows tablet samsung galaxy tab S7.. I thought that the app Adobe worked with my new tablet but i have discoveed that Photoshop Illustrator funciton only with ipad tablet.  In the future something will change? PLease help me      {Renamed by MOD}

Hi... I am new to producing printed output.  I just attempted to print my first 13x19 on high quality paper, and unexpectedly, ended up w/ a ~1/4" white border all the way around, which maked the content at the edge. Instead of trial-and-erroring w/ the expensive paper, I thought I'd tinker more w/ cheaper copy paper. I don't quite undersatand what is happening.  Seems if I print 'non' Borderless on US Letter, I similarly get a white border that masks part of the image (see "US Letter").... and if I print Borderless, it seems to stretch the image a bit, and cuts off the edge (see "US Letter Borderless" How might I more reliably get edge-to-edge printing w/o cutting off (or border/masking) content?

how come some artbaords got the same number? is it a bug or i messed something? 

Looks like Illustrator forgot how to do its job. Currently on 29.1 as the latest version has completely messed up all my mechanical files with it's loopy font replacement bug. Nothing has had me looking forward to retirement more than not having to use this software to make a living. Unfortunately, I'll be working until I drop, and maybe it will be because of all the daily stress I endure using this nightmare app.

Everytime you update it basically makes this program crash more and more.. It's like as soon as you guys get it right you mess it up the next week.. I've had 4 crashes right now in less than 15 mins while using graphic styles.. it's always something each and every week.. ENOUGH ALREADY!*My machine is up to date and only 12 months old.. 

Modern programs like Sketch and Figma have auto-height text boxes that grow in height as the copy increases. Can we adopt this feature in Illustrator?

Navigator is non functional, not sure when it began, fairly recently.Clicking anywhere on navigator while zoomed in just starts scrolling the artboard down slowly.Previously clicking on a section in navigator would take me to that region of the artboard, now it just slowly scrolls the main view in the opposite direction to where i've clicked in navigator.Latest version of Windows 10 64Latest version of Illustrator

Hi, Im currently working with "Playwrite CC Việt Nam" font. For some reasons the font displays differently in Illustrator than it does in Adobe Font. I tried the font in Photoshop and it still displays correctly. (according to the attached images) Any help on this matter? I need to hand the file over to my client tomorrow. Thank you so much! So blends have some annoying, unconfigurable behavior: if you have open paths in your blend then Illustrator won't automatically create a blend spine, and it insists on checking "knockout group" on the blend, which I almost never want. I have a script that attempts to work around this. It saves the open/closed state of every selected path, makes them all closed, calls object>blend>make, unchecks knockout group, and attempts to restore the original open/closed state (but this doesn't seem to take any more). Then it calls object>blend options. Because I almost inevitably do that after creating a blend. And this is where things get weird: the instant I start poking at the options in that window, everything my script did is *undone*. Good day, I would need someone's help for this issue since I am working on a file that can't handled, every time I used to work on it, and also once I try to save it.   I have assigned right preference to GPU, I have on board Nvidia 3050 6gb.   Cpu is I7 13 gen, with 64 ram ddr4, well I am wondering what's the wrong with Illustator and maybe its setting, as I am pressed to reliazied my job asap for University.   Tks for all help everyone can give to me and assistance on this issue, as I need it quite urgently.   I got one Year subscription with Adobe Illustrator but I am not able to use it.   Many thanks in advance   Deborah Briganti

I remember having difficulties saving it when I was working on it, saying it "tried to save it but failed" I ended up saving it without getting an error message (by unticking the "create a PDF friendly verion" in the save option) but didn't check on the file, thinking everything was OK. Now, I just can't open it. Upon opening the file, adobe illustrator says it can't open the file correctly, can only read it partially and will try to retrieve elements in it. then, it opens and I only get a text box with text saying the file was not saved using a PDF option and all... If anyone can help.  I used to do it but now, i can't copy as SVG from photoshop to illustrator, why ? it show me link error when i paste it
