Questions

I remember I was always able to click and drag to select multiple items, and use the mouse wheel to quickly scroll down the page to select more. This allowed my selection box (the dotted outline) to expand as far as I needed it to. But now when I try to scroll while selecting, I move my selection box instead of expanding it.

 I'm on Sequoia 15.7.3 and Illustrator 30.1, working on a 2025 iMac.  I can't seem to get the Tilde key to produce copies. Are there shortcuts I've forgotten or am missing?

ive tried to get a sketch or reference image to convert to single vector lines that i can edit the size of using concept to vector AI but it dosent work it just dose it like a usual image trace i need it as individual editable lines. ive told the prompt very sternly i just want single editable lines but it never works ive selected the line art icon too

Despite installing the English یدعم العربیه version of Illustrator and enabling both the Indic Options and the Middle Eastern and South Asian Single-Line Text Composer, I still don't have the RTL (right to left) text options for Arabic. As a result, the dots and symbols at the end of the text are appearing on the right side instead of the left. Can anyone please help?   In the screenshots you can see my seetings as well as the text. I am using the most up-to-date version of the illustrator (28.6) as of 2024 Aug 20th. MacBook Pro 13-inch, M1, 2020, MacOS Sonoma 14.5  

Hi! my vendor is asking me to create designs so they can copy the patterns from my AI work. I have attached what they are requiring but I have no idea where to start! Can anyone assist please?  

Heya! We are a small team which contains a few graphic designers. These designers create Illustrator files containing the font Inter. We can’t really change this font since it’s our client’s must use font.When the graphic designers open these files, they have absolutely no issues. But when the rest of the team opens them, they can see the text boxes displaying the right font but when they go to see the font used and determine if it’s the light or the regular version, the box is completely blank. It also just happens with the font Inter, all the other ones display their names with no issue.We have tried desinstalling Illustrator, making sure it’s the latest version, desinstalling the font, installing different types of fonts files for Inter, opening the file locally and in our One Drive.We don’t know what else to try :(

The problem came up at the agency today, and it took us hours to figure out why the print shop kept rejecting our PDF. (We needed the stroke for a cutline)At some point, we found an answer online stating that outline strokes are only exported as such if they are aligned centered. Otherwise the object will be exportet with filling and no stroke at all. But why is that the case from a technical standpoint? Wouldn't it be helpful to receive a warning message during the export process?We just want to understand how this is working. Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to make a label appear to wrap around a bottle from a front on view, like looking at it square on from the front. None of the Warp options seem to do it (please correct me if I'm wrong). I've tried Envelope Distort using Make with Mesh, single row, multiple columns, adjusting accordingly, but the words on the label look distorted. I'm thinking there surely must be an easy way to do this in Illustrator. Does anybody know?

Hi.  I’m trying to cut a hole in the “a” letter but instead I’m getting a compound path that is all white.  How can I fix this?  Images attached.

As of March 30th, Adobe made Generative Turntable a reality in the standalone app. If you haven't seen it yet, it basically allows you to take flat, 2D vector artwork and spin it like a 3D object to see different angles and top-down views. A couple of people had commented on the YouTube video, and for their fashion careers, this cuts the costs and time to render a vector drawing in seconds versus hours. The speed is undeniable.When we can generate a 180-degree character turnaround with a slider instead of manually redrawing every limb and perspective, are you feeling empowered by the speed, or do you feel a bit of "creative guilt" over how much of the heavy work that Illustrator’s AI is doing? Please drop a comment with your experience! ~ Love to hear how your process or thoughts has shifted—No right or wrong answers here—just your honest take!

I have downloaded an image from Stock which has a full page of different bird drawings. I only want one of the bird drawings. How do I cut it out so I can paste it onto another document? Sorry Beginner Creative x

i have adobe illustrator 2026 version. My spec- i7 14th gen, 24 gb ram, 8gb 5050rtx. I have a transparent image on top of another image. i created a rectangle, and pick colour with eye dropper and clicked on tha image, even though i can see black colour below the transparent image, it did not pick black colour but picked white. if i remove the transparent image on top of it and then pick colour, then it picks black colour.Before i had 2021 version, it picked black even though it was below the above transparent pixel image as we can absolutely see it. how to get that functionality of color pick in 2026 version.

There is a fundamental issue in Adobe Illustrator that needs attention. The keyboard shortcuts for Arrange  Bring Forward Send Backward Bring to Front Send to Back  simply stop working. They are correctly assigned in the Keyboard Shortcuts panel.They worked before.They are still mapped correctly. But they do nothing. Meanwhile, right-click → Arrange works perfectly. So Illustrator can execute the command — it just ignores the keyboard input.

Hello! Every time I perform an action in Illustrator I get a blue Progress bar. I have read the community posts and saw many people had a similar problem with Illustrator 4 years ago.. I have tried suggested fixes, installing a previous version or disabling the GPU, but that hasn't helped. I am using a new Lenovo Yoga w/24K ram and I am losing my dang mind.

I frequently save large, high resolution PDF imposition pages from Illustrator for digital printing. These pages contain multiple linked PDF files. Using a PDF preset, these pages have zero image compression and they do maintain Illustrator editing capabilities. These pages have typically ranged in size from about 1MG to maybe up to 20MG and I have saved tens of thousands of these files over the years. Up until late 2025, this method worked flawlessly, however with one of the newer Illustrator updates, now when I save a PDF using the same standard preset that’s worked for many many years, the size in 10X larger than they would normally have been. Something changed in the latest version(s) of Illustrator. As a workaround, I have to reopen the same page(s) in Acrobat and simply re-save it, which then shrinks it back to the size it would normally be. I never had to do this until late 2025.This is not an issue with maintaining Illustrator editing capabilities, or removing artwork compressi

In previous versions of the Adobe apps, I became accustomed to running Photoshop and Illustrator in parallel and being able to copy and paste vectors I made in Illustrator directly into my Photoshop documents. Now, whenever I try to run both concurrently on my new Mac Mini, I get a message that my computer is out of memory and it freezes up. I’m wondering if this is due to some new clunky AI features that I could disable, or if the issue has some other solution. I can work around it, but it’s much less convenient.

Hi, I have been experiencing issues when opening .ai files. I think the problems started after the last update. I get a message saying 'Illustrator could partially read this file'. When the file opens I only see one artboard with the content broken apart, similar to what you would see if you opened a .pdf in Illustrator. I have tried installing a previous version and then going back to the latest version but it does not correct the problem. I have copied files to my hard drive and tried to place files into a new file but nothing gets me back my full file. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the file as I have just installed a trial version of Affinity Designer and my .ai files open without any issues. I really need to find a solution otherwwise I will probably have to go with Affinity Designer to open my files. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dear community, I have problem with an Illustrator (again and one of many). I have created a file and saved it on cloud. Immediatelly after closing it I have tried to open it just to being shown the error message that Illustrator can't open the file as I don't have acces to this file and that I should contact the owner. I am the only owner of license and the creator of it - I literally created that file several minutes ago on the same desktop device. How is that even possible? It shows the file isn't synced - but the internet connection is pretty fine. I must say I thought that saving my files on cloud will be a big relief and a time saver for me, but it's the exact opposite - constantly having all kinds of problems from conflicts with syncing file updates between my desktop devices, through problems with not available autosaving, messing up my text and letters positions, to banning me out of my own files... guess the creative cloud won't ever really compare to an extern

My two Mac laptops are updated to latest Tahoe 26.5.2. Illustrator 2026 v30.7 has not been opening for over a week, even when the 2025 version is closed. I get reference code 224 and "Sorry, Illustrator has encountered an error and needs to close. You will not be able to use Illustrator at this time.”  Only option I’m given is to quit Illustrator. But the older 2025 v29.8.10 is working. What is happening? 

I am trying to make a stroke that goes to a point like a skateboard ramp. Right now I am using the line and the widen tool. I shrank one side down to the middle but it will not let me move past the middle of the stroke. I tried doing the same with a rectangle too but the same problem. I want the shape to be something like this,  

Hi everyone! Is it possible in Adobe Illustrator to adjust the length of anchor handles without affecting their angle? Or vice versa — adjust the angle without changing the length?Achieving this precision manually with a mouse feels impossible, yet it’s so necessary for small optical adjustments, fixing "optical kinks" in smooth curves and customizing fonts and making other detailed edits.Right now, I rely on these clunky workarounds:If the line is straight, I create a helper line and drag the handle along it. If the angle matters, I use a circle for control.But honestly, this is so tedious, and I’m exhausted from doing it over and over. I’ve heard about path scribe, but I can’t afford them right now. My other searches have been fruitless.Are there any hidden settings, shortcuts, or tricks for this in Illustrator?If anyone has encountered this and found a solution, please share!

Adobe generative recolor of a graphism in Illustrator never load, whatever the computer or time. 

Hi everyone,I’m working on a vector design in Illustrator and noticed a strange issue with GPU Preview.Some artwork that uses transparency and a clipping mask shows a white box around it while I’m editing. The box disappears when I switch to CPU Preview, so it seems to be related to GPU rendering.I’m using the latest Illustrator version and have already tried reopening the file, but the issue still happens.Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting or workaround that can fix the GPU Preview without having to switch to CPU Preview?
