Hi all, Multiple times now I've copy-pasted images and screenshots into an illustrator file (ie embedded images), only to have them randomly "turn white" and lose all image information. This has happened locally and when connected through a VPN, also during a crash and opening the [recovered] version.  FYI Adobe's IT team was unable to fix the issue after a 45-minute phone call and screen share so I might be out of luck here - But still wanted to post this in case other users were running into this issue as well.

Hi everyone, I've been wondering for a while if there's a way to use Illustrator to do something as simple as replacing multiple fonts at once, but I can't find a solution or anything like it.Often, I need to have a single word or phrase written in multiple fonts to compare styles and see which font makes the text look better. But I have to select a different font in each one, which can be repetitive and tedious.Can anyone help me? I used Gimp a lot (yeah I know it's not the same at all but it was enough before) but now I need a more specialized and powerful software to do various designs. I am currently learning with a few amazing tutorials, so I'm a beginner making progress, Illustrator is quite amazing but there's one thing that bothers me a lot..When using gimp I could use the middle mouse button to move around the image (I ended up binding it on a side button of my mouse, more convenient) it was extremely useful it allowed me to move around very quickly and easily. But I can't find a way to do the same on illustrator..The closest way I found was hitting "H" on the keyboard, move around and then go back manually to the tool I was using before, it is quite annoying.. Before I just had to hold the mouse button and drag to move around without changing the tool I'm using..I know it's nothing too serious but I got used to zooming and moving around quickly and now it makes me feel a bit "stuck"Is there a way to cha

Today illustrator has started adding the artboard number as well as the suffix, which is what I named the artboard. It used to only add the thing I deliberately called it. Now I"m having to manually delete the numbers at the end again. How do I make it stop adding them?

I've been trying to expand the layers using the keyboard shortcut "Command+Shift+G" on Mac, and I haven't been able to open up additional layers aside from what is already shown in the photo here. The bounding box and edges are showing (I double checked multiple times), and this is the correct command to ungroup my text creation so far, based on my settings/preferences. All I want to do is ungroup the entire layer multiple times so that each letter aspect can be selectable/clickable for me to edit, but I'm stuck. Please helppppp 

Guys, please help me I'm in desperate need of assistance. I've been trying to figure this out all day, but I'm unable to select the bottom of each letter using the selection tool, and it has been driving me insane. I don't know what else to do, but I tried troubleshooting (bounding box and edges are showing). Could it be because this is an Arabic text? I'm basically trying to follow this same tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omu7b_FDJRI)  to create a vintage postcard, but wanted to use Arabic text instead. I got stuck on the letter selection part as the selection tool hasn't been working properly. PLS HELP

Is it possible to export artboards individually as DXF? When I choose File > Export > Export as, the check box to USE ARTBOARDS is greyed out an unavailable. Is there a work around? Thank you.

I've noticed this for years... whenever I create a new document in Illustrator--no matter the size or mode and without any bleed settings, the artboard has a tiny grey "drop shadow" behind the artboard. See ATTACHED (top left and top right corners). It does not affect art and never prints, but more times than I can count I've found myself zooming in and attempting to select/delete it, thinking I left some sort of unwanted element behind while I was working. Or I see the faint "border" and think my graphic elements aren't fully aligned to the page edge, when the actually are. It seems like it's just a "cutsie" little unneeded addition to the artboard. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of it? I've poked around in preferences and View settings but couldn't find anything. Or maybe I need to (somehow) complain to an Adobe "ideas/complains" thread? Thanks. Using Illustrator 2020 on Mac OS, but like I've mentioned, it's been there for years, perhaps decades.

I am not asking for help. I know the "work around" solution to bypass the elmers glue and ducktape holding this application together by simply creating outlines and doing it after... I'm asking why, if I can have outlines on text before even doing that, can I not determine where the stroke is aligned?If the program can center align the stroke, then it knows where the boundaries of the typeface is. If the program knows where the boundary of the typeface is, then it should be able to align the stroke. It makes no sense to me why I have to go out of my way to make a non-destructable copy of my text in its postion, then make a non-editable copy that I'm unable to change the weight, kerning, tracking, or any other character edits I might have to make after my client gives me edits.These aren't fun little "quirks". They are genuine issues and roadblocks for the userbase of this application. Maybe you should have your AI help to fix your 38 years of coding discrepencies instead of whatever ot

I'm trying to move / re-position a gid and it won't move. The "Lock guide" option is turned off. The layer is not locked. I can select the guide but I can't move it.What am I missing?

Dear community,  I am struggling with export to PDF with my vectore generated forrest. In the first picture is like ti looks like in adobe.  When I export it to pdf, its nots exactly the same  Same for svg, there is no difference if I choose 20 decimal places of 2 😞  Any idea how to fix it?

Hey all,I have an issue with a file.Its layered into Artwork white and the Keylines.At some point a outlined letter in the Artwork droped to the white layer changes the colour to the white.I was not able to grab it only in the outline modus of illustrator.it was not detectable as it was in the white colour.Yet it somehow still managed to keep the knock out the on the artwork. Which in this location doesn’t make sense. Never seen anything like it. Can I rule out human error? No, but….. This would actually require a good bid of work to copy the element out, re-colour it to white and lock it in.That would not be an easy job that is done accidentally. The only thing that would make more sense is, that there was a glitch when writing the final pdf that would have caused the code to not output correctly.Has anyone any idea what could have caused this?

With the installation of the newest version of Illustrator resizing area text boxes only transforms the area shape, not the text within. I used to be able to select the textbox and shape it with it's contents, ike point text behavior. Now I can't do this with the normal selection tool (v) unless I use the transform tool (e). Having to change the tool is annoying extra step in the process. Is there a way to get this behavior back to what it was?  Maybe I have accidently changed a setting, but I checked everything and can't find a solution.  (In the previous version I was also able to select multiple area text boxes and resize them all, now only the boxes resize, not the text within, which is quite annoying as well)   

I'm infuriated. I didn't know this setting was on all the "lowest settings" by default and I sent a resume / portfolio out last night. Why are we still compressing anything in 2025; especially on Low. thank you

Hello everyone,This evening, when I opened the file I had saved after working for a while, I encountered the error "illustrator could partially read this file". I am very angry as I write these. When I researched, I found something strange with a ridiculous extension instead of the .aid file backup system. Why would you change something that works like this? I worked for hours and tried hard, but now I cannot open the file, I tried many ways. The thumbnail looks normal in Illustrator. The file size looks normal too, but it does not open. What should I do now? Does Adobe provide support for file corruption? Is it better to throw away the money I paid to Adobe? Hello. I am attempting to make a similar background to the attached photo below. It was found on Pinterest, and that is as far I found for the original artist, besides it being based off a Taylor Swift song.  My trouble is coming with the effects on the heart. I have used Gaussian Blur as well as Feather, and cannot seem to get the same blurred, soft edges as the source picture. Instead, the entire shape is transformed evenly, and I am unsure how to have it focus on the edge/strokes specifically.  I've attached the source (Red heart with text) and my current edit (green, no words) for reference.  I'd appreciate any tips or referral to tutorials, as I am not able to articulate what it is I'm looking for. Hi,I exported SVG files that contain images from Figma, but when I try to edit them in Illustrator, the images are missing. Instead, I see blank areas where the images should be, and the drop shadows applied to the shapes are not rendering either. But the images look fine on Chrome.Thanks

I'm working on finding good techniques for transferring drawings that I have scanned in Photoshop into Illustrator, and found some old notes from a teacher that said"Trace", then Advanced Panel, then Ignore White, then Expand, but I can't remember how to find "ignore white".

How to create labels in Illustrator ? I would like to ask why Adobe for Illustrator does not create an option that allows from one Label that I create its export to any size on a page of A4 self-adhesive labels from different manufacturers such as Herma, Every, etc. or to custom sizes as it has competing tools. There is only a very complicated manual method and so I always have to create one label in Illustrator, export it to PDF and then export it to full A4 using the tool on onlinelabels.com.Of course, I know it is possible to download a pattern for Illustrator but if you have a really large number of labels, this will take an awful lot of time.Adobe subscriptions are not the cheapest and I think this option should have been in Illustrator a long time ago. And subsequently I want it to create multiple labels on an A4 page from one label according to my parameters.  I will explain in simple terms, I need some add-on or direct function in Illustrator that will creat

Anyone know if it's possible to make a pattern brush with tunable variations between the tiles? Imagine a pattern brush that's a string of lights. Is it possible to vary the distance between bulbs, but most importantly, without gaps, so the wire remains continuous.
