Questions

I've been struggling with an issue regarding the direct selection tool. In much earlier versiions of Illustrator, when points of an object were selected using the direct selection tool, only those points would move if moved to a new position. Now though I'm forever getting the whole object moving, and the unselected points will then snap back to their original position when the mouse is released. It does this in CC2020 and 2022. The attached screen recording shows what I mean (for clarification, I only want the top points in the selection to move). Is this how the direct selection tool is now supposed to work? If not, what am I missing? Any help appreciated.

The following is my code. It works when I use version 2023, but it fails when I use version 2024. The error message is "Cannot get document 1" save aiDoc in file mynewfilepath as Illustrator ¬with options {class:Illustrator save options, embed ICC profile:true, flatten output:preserve appearance} Please help me

OK - I upgraded to Illustator 2024, where ON EARTH did my open documnets along the top go? I could click between them ASAP and now I have to scoll to the bottom of the "window" tab? See attached pics

Good day, Please could somebody assist me with opening Adobe Illustrator files in Versaworx 2024. If i open Versaworx and try to open the ai art file this message pops up.So then i save the file as a CS3 file and still this message come up. Should i save the file as a CS4 or later version? thanks 

how can I gut the pink path from the black - so the black looks cut out? 

My illustrator app is crashing on the launch, showing error 12003 "that it's likely on Adobe side and bla bla bla" how do I fix this issue and how can contact Adobe support? I tried to go through live chat and request to speak with agent, I get a response "our agents available at open hours" and that's it. No matter if I contact them during working hours or not.

Hi! I hope that someone would be able to help me with this. I have an outlined text created with offset path like the screenshot shown here but it left some pesky gaps in between but I don't want to increase the thickness of the outline. So is there a way to get rid of the gap? (Without a workaround like putting a same color shape behind it or convert to outline and use shape builder... I mean a way to do it but I can still edit the text later on) Thank you!

Hi there, I have a text rea with some text in it. If I select the text, we can see that the bounding box is pretty small:Now, if I rotate the text by 90 degrees, I expect the same thing to happen but instead, I get this:As you can see, the top and the bottom has this padding now that I dont want. I spent quite bit of time tweaking different options to see if I can eliminate this, but so far, I have not been able to come up with a solution. What I am trying to do, is to add a bracket around text where the text is oriented horizontal but the brackets are oriented vertically, like this:  But as you can see in the example above, the excess spacing is causing uneven spacing between the top and the bottom. If anyone has idea how to fix this or better way to do this, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

My Direct Selection tool is not selecting but only intermittently. Usually it works fine, but sometimes I get stuck where every time I try to select an object, I get this menu instead (screenshot below)I haven't done anything that would need this menu. Only finished something, clicked away from the object, then tried to select. Any ideas what's going on?

I'm trying to follow tutorials on making an opacity mask, but the tutorials all show that the Transparency window has a mask function in it, where you can link objects and their gradient masks, like this:This doesn't exist in my version of Illustrator. My transparency window looks like this:I'm using the latest version of Illustrator and have searched the UI and the mask function appears to be missing. Was this functionality removed? If so, how can I apply a gradient mask to an object now?

Hi There,First time poster.Experienceing a weird Lag. Using a Wacom Tablet but laos get the lag with the mouse.iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i732 GB 1867 MHz DDR3AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GBUsually very fast but just recently everything is laggy and sticky. There seems to be a one second lag with every move I Make. Any suggestions on how to fix would be loved and adorned! 🙂 

 Hello, I have a font that I want to edit so that whwn the position is set to 0 it will vertically center within the blue lines. Granted, I'm sure this isn't something which can be accomplished through Illustrator alone, but I'd be curious on how it can be effectively done?

Hello Adobe Community, I am trying to figure out a way to make this curved line follow a spiral in a uniformed way.  Using blend moded and replacing the spine, I was able to do it using circles but I don't need circles, I just need one arched line, perhaps going from one side of an oval going to one side of a cirlce in the midddle. See photos below to get a clearer idea of what I mean.  I am trying to make a snail shell and struggling through it. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thank you!! -Sarah  PS: I was thinking if there was a way to choose where the spine was anchored to the blended object (the curved line), that might be a reasonable approach. Not sure if that's possible though. 

Cuando deseo cambiar de fuente tipográfica al escribir vuelve a ponerse la fuente anterior. EJemplo, escribo "hola mundo" con la fuente Arial, pero ahora quiero cambiar a la fuente Lato, selecciono la fuente y la cambio, hasta ahí todo bien, pero si quiero agregar más texto a esa horación entonces el texto que agregue sale con la fuente arial en vez de la nueva. Entonces queda algo como "Hola mundo texto nuevo". Ayuda

Ich möchte einen bereits vorhandenen Text im Illustrator in den Blocksatz setzten. Wenn ich beim Paragraphen den Blocksatz wähle, passiert nichts. Der Text lässt sich nur links, mittig und rechts ausrichten aber nicht in den Blocksatz setzten. Was kann ich machen? I would like to justify an existing text in Illustrator. When I select justification for the paragraph, nothing happens. The text can only be aligned left, centre and right but not justified. What can I do?

Is there a way to fit an image, vector, or object to the size of the artboard? I know you can do the opposite, where the artboard adjusts to the selected object, but I need to do the reverse. Thanks a lot for any answers.

Me confunde: El que dentro de AI el grupo "Myriad Variable Concept" se encuentre disponible, se pueda utilizar y configurar, no obstante que en Adobe Fonts aparece como "Removido" ¿ ... ?El que en Adobe Fonts el grupo que contiene las 40 variantes se llame distinto: "Myriad Pro" y en AI el mismo grupo "Myriad Pro" sólo contiene 1 variante, y el grupo que contiene las 40 variantes, se llame "Myriad Variable Concept" ¿ ... ?Que el orden en el que se presentan las 40 variantes sea diferente en AI y Adobe Fonts, ¿ ... ? Es caótico para comparar lo que se tiene o no instalado, y seleccionar lo que se desea instalar... Por favor: ¿me pueden orientar de la manera más clara y comprensiba posible, sobre qué estoy entendiendo mal, y qué debo comprender para utilizar y gestionar de manear correcta esta fuente tipográfica?¡Gracias!

Hey. I've already created a shape in illustrator, then I went to select the type along a path tool and the message "You must click on a non-compound, non masking path to create text along a path" I'm not sure what else I should be clicking on so that I can use the tool.

I have an old laptop (GeForce 410M).I want to try some Adobe software.IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW WHAT VERSION WAS THE LATEST!Incredible that old tech is completelty discarded.

I want to layer 2 swatches that I have made the old fashioned way, a rectangle with no outline and no fill. When I tile the blue rectangle swatch in PS on its own the repeat is seamless. When I add another swatch to the AI doc the original no longer tiles seamlessly. I need help. I have been working this way forever and for some reason today it's not working.

HOLA! A MODO DE SUGERENCIA...ESTARÍA BUENO QUE ASÍ COMO EN PHOTOSHOP SE PUEDEN DESCUBRIR LA UBICACIÓN DE LOS DOCUMENTOS EN EL EXPLORADOR DE ARCHIVOS DESDE EL MISMO PROGRAMA... TAMBIÉN SE PUEDA HACER EN ILUSTRATOR!!Pues llevo mucho trabajando documentos en Ai... Y aveces olvido dónde los guardo y simplemente quiero encontrar de forma rápida un documento en el que estoy trabajando... Y toca abrir el Explorador de windows o el maldito Bridge y ponerse a buscar... COSA QUE ES MUY ENGORROSA! Quiero que la próxima actualización... En ilustrator se pueda pinchar un click derecho desde la ventanilla del documento en el que se está trabajando y así al igual que en Photoshop... Podamos darle a Descubrir en el eplorador de archivos. Y PUF! MÁGICAMENTE ENCUENTRAS EL MALDITO ARCHIVO!  ADJUNTO IMAGEN COMPARATIVA!
