Using a pc running Windows 11 Pro, I am suddenly unable to launch Illustrator or Creative Cloud. They basically just do nothing when I click on them. I've tried restarting my computer a few times, but to no avail. I've tried ending all the processes in Task Manager. I'm hoping to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall Illustrator, as it always seems to be more of a hassle then I think it's going to be. But I will if I have to. I'd like to try to just uninstall and reinstall CC, but I don't think I can do it easily without uninstalling Illustrator too. Maybe there are other solutions I'm not considering? Thank you for any help.

I'm not working in a heavy file or anything-- since I've updated Illustrator it's crashed like 5 times in 2 hours for no discernable reason. I updated to fix lag issues on the last version and I keep losing work (and my mind). Anyone else having this problem? I'm not using AI tools or 3D tools or anything that's memory heavy.

Hi, I've been given a load of icons to look at from a designer who's chosen a 150px grid and 3px stroke. A couple of things before I start. I'm redrawing some of the lines as they are off a pixel grid (stroke), which is fine, but one of the requests is to outline the path on completion. The problem is due to the stroke being 3px; the points will now come off the grid due to the point being 1.5px on either side. Should I push the stroke to 'outside' or 'inside' before I outline? Should the stroke really be an even number? Just getting some tips beforehand. lister

I've never noticed this behavior through many versions of AI and was wondering if anyone knows why it would behave this way or if it's somehow just me. If you have a compound path with a stroke (specifically an inside or outside aligned stroke), if you use your direct selection tool to click on an individual anchor point of the compound path (or clicking and dragging over part of the object (basically selecting only part of the object and not the object in it's entirety) then you cannot hide the object. Selecting the entire compound path object allows it to be hidden.Selecting a single anchor point of a compound path with a CENTER aligned stroke allows it to be hiddenSelecting a single anchor point of a NON-compound path with center/inside/outside aligned stroke allows it to be hidden. The only condition that seems to break the ability to hide the object is selecting only a portion of the compound path object when the stroke is set to inside or outside alignment. Ca

I need to import a photo into Illustrator, but whenever I export the file as a PDF, the imported photo is blurry! I tried resizing it to be smaller, resizing it to be larger, checking my export settings, etc. What do I do?

When saving a file, the save bar is stuck and will not finish. Lost work over and over again because I am force quitting the app.

I found another post about this issue from a couple of years ago that had a solution but the solution did not work for me, so I am starting a new thread with the same question. I am using Illustrator 2026 on macOS Sequoia 15.7.2. When I hover over the icons in the toolbars, the descriptions do not appear like they used to. For example, the icons in the Align and Pathfinder toolbars. There are no descriptions for the different tools (e.g. trim, divide, etc.). I have "Show Tool Tips" and "Show Rich Tool Tips" both turned on. The rich tool tips do appear when I hover over the tools on the lefthand toolbar, but the regular icon descriptions (for pathfinder and align tools) do not appear. One user on Reddit found that if they turned on Show Tool Tips, but turned off Show Rich Tool Tips, the issue resolved itself. But that did not work for me. I've also tried restarting Illustrator, but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Hello community, is it possible to change the line style of stroked text using an Illustrator script? In this case, I want to change the "Baseline" to "Centered".

I'm trying to open Adobe Illustrator files that I saved to the cloud and they are all saying they can't be opened or all of the text is missing out of the files. Help.

Happens to me too, on Windows. Every export the dialog moves a little more left, until I have to move it back to the right. Seems like there should be a preferences option like Corel has: Center Dialog Boxes. But alas.

Hello, Having issues today (as is my co-worker) with the new 30.1 build and Illustrator on Mac is having bugs and problems I have not seen since the 1990's, LOL. Cannot adjust text blocks when they are set with type. Only stetches or resizes, does not allow for chaning of the bounding box size.Images that have clipping masks have the same issue. You cannot adjust the bounding box or clipping mask seperately. It stretches and resizes only. You cannot recropItems grouping to each other without reason. Pretty much that, looks like the OLD bug with .AI, showing up again in 2025I'm sure there will be posts tonight about this, but thought I'd add my woes into the fray.And going back to an earlier version, say 29.8.3 on a Mac does not solve it. I'm assuming the bug or corruption get's passed back if opening a current file(s). Anyone found a work around?

ello!I recently upgraded my operating system from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This new operating system has its quirks, and it takes some getting used to. However, something I haven't been able to get used to is the new interface in Illustrator for printing. It feels like the interface has added others windows, making the printing process slow. Before, it was just one window; you adjusted the necessary options—paper type, number of copies, print quality—and it printed. Now, it opens an Illustrator window for printing, then another window with print options in Windows, and if I want to adjust the print quality, yet another window opens... and if I want to change any of those options again, everything I had already selected is reset to its defaults! This isn't very user-friendly. This used to happen in Photoshop (new version in windows 11), but in Photoshop, I unchecking the "New Modern Interface" option reverted it to the old interface, which I greatly appreciate.How can I fix this in Ill

I'm having a lot of issues with making changes to text within an existing text box. I used to be able to just select the text box (with existing text in it), click the text tool and insert it anywhere in the text paragraph to make changes but now, I'm having issues just trying to select the text box ( I have "show edges" selected) even when it's on the top layer (and the layer is selected) and then, after multiple "clicks" and it's finally selected,  every time I use the text tool, when I click where I want to insert or update text, I get the default new text box with the large "Lorem Ipsum" greek text in it. I can't insert the text tool within an existing text box to edit the words!  This is unreal! There was never an issue with editing text in the past. Any suggestions?I'm using an iMac M3, using macOS 15.7.1 and Illustrator 30.1.  This started when I updated Illustrator about a week ago.  HELP PLEASE.

Merry Christmas everyone.I am realtively new to Ai. I design wood engravings so I must export my final Ai files as SVG, then into a CNC machine (objects and text). They need a custom graphic style applied for the CNC to read.I have never been able to select all objects and apply the grahic style to everything at once. Some objects always get missed. I have to check and/or manually select objects, then apply the graphic style I need. I usually miss one or two objects and this messes up my cutting. Is there a way to display a list (maybe in the layers palette?) that shows all objects and the graphic style applied to them. This would allow me to check if I missed applying the graphic style need to all obects.Or perhaps there is another trick to selecting all objects I am missing—I am using "Select ALL" then clicking on my graphic style.  It just never seems to apply the style to ALL, only some objects.Thanks in advance.

Hi Community,I'm new, so please forgive me. I've looked at the directions I could find with Google. They aren't working for me. 95% of the brush downloads from the Adobe Stock page do not load the way it is suggested they should. I put them in a folder, use the brushes panel to locate them, and...nothing happens. It opens a blank brush panel, or, even stranger, a second iteration of the standard brush panel. Many of the brushes open as .ai files. I don't know how to turn those into brushes. They are just vector images to me. I can't get them to "become" a brush.Usually, when I encounter this level of error, it means I am doing something terribly wrong. I just don't know how all the gurus I have googled could be misleading me.Just as a for-instance, I've attached the opened brush menu for brush #AdobeStock_674332908. It is also the .ai file open on the artboard. How do I get the brushes on the artboard into the brush menu? There are only standard brushes in there.
